Jewelry tools for sale

My boss recently purchased all the tools from a jewelry shop that was going out of business and subsequently has a lot of tools that he is parting with. While these are primarily jewelry tools many of them are perfect for prop building. He has some nice workbenches, casting equipment, benchtop laser welder, a large polishing station, plating rectifier, rolling mills, benchtop lathe, flexshaft motors/handpieces, microscopes, engraving tools and all kinds of small hand tools. There's too much to list here- I have a complete listing of everything with photos and pricing. Some of this equipment is pretty big/heavy so local pickup would be preferred (Boulder, Colorado) but he said he'll ship equipment if need be. After downloading and viewing the list if there are any questions just message me and I'll try to answer them as best as possible or have my boss email you. Thanks!

champagne topper jewelry

On our wedding night my wife and I had a bottle of Vieve Cliquot champagne. I still have the topper that holds the cork to the bottle. I can imagine it being made into a bracelet or pendant for my wife but would have no idea how to go about it. If anybody has any ideas I would appreciate it. The topper has a portrait of the widow cliquot on it and reminds me of a cameo. Our five year anniversary is coming at the end of this month and I would love to make her something out of this for it.

Steampunk Jewelry for sale

With the success of my SteamPunk Jewelry Instructable, I have decided to list my jewelry in my Etsy store. I'm quite pleased with the sales so far. Have a look, won't you? Toast Arts on Etsy. I am in the process of cleaning up my Lego Octopus prototype for sale in my store, as well. Stay tuned for those additions and others. Cheers, Tater. P.S. Or you can always build your own. Haha.

Jewelry Box Kits

I'm looking for feedback from the DIY crafting/woodworking community. I'd like to know what you all think of our artisan designed jewelry box kits. I've looked around and what I've seen in this market is pretty slim pickin's. Our kits don't require a shop full of tools, just what the average homeowner might have in his/her tool chest. There is also a short list of supplies. The kits require no cutting or power tools at all. The things that are required are self confidence, a sense of excellence and attention to detail. Our company is called Ready To Build. I have designed every box and we make absolutely everything in-house. It would be great if you would check out the website and give us any feedback or ask questions. Thanks!

jewelry box fittings

I am making my daughter a wooden jewelry box and want to spiff it up with brass fittings - corners, edges, etc. I can't find a supplier. All local stores have cabinet fittings ( drawer pulls, hinges, etc.). Any suggestions? If I bought thin brass sheets would I need special tools to make my own fittings? i want nice sharp 90 degree angles and curved edges.

123D Jewelry Contest missing

The 123D  jewelry contest has been missing from the contest page for 2 days. I can still access the page if I use the link on my "you page" where my entry is listed.  The judging was supposed to be over on the 17th (after it was changed from the 15th). When the judging started, I saw that one of my ibles was a finalist, but did not receive an email from Jessyratfink alerting me to this as I have with several other recent contests. My finalist entry has an award icon on it and it has not won any other contests.  All of these things are odd, and I was just wondering...What's up with the jewelry contest?

Jewelry Design App Ideas?

Our group at Autodesk is thinking about making an app to help people design custom jewelry, since the current options are slow, expensive, and hard to use.  If you've made your own jewelry or worked with a pro to have a custom piece made, our summer intern Kristen would love to pick your brain for 15-30 minutes to learn what features would be most useful to you in a jewelry app. If that sounds like fun, just reply here and Kristen will contact you to set up a phone or Skype chat.  Thanks!

Ballerina Jewelry Box Project

Hello, I am interested in creating a jewelry box for my niece. The idea is to laser-cut a custom box which I think I can find templates of online and create an SVG file with some art for the laser cutter. I plan to 3D print a ballerina as well. I initially thought of running the electronics with Arduino - but prefer to keep it simple.  I want to have a custom song/melody playing - I was thinking of perhaps some sort of a recording/playback speaker where I can record the song initially and then have it play back - ideas? For simplicity - do you think it is possible to run a simple circuit with a couple AA/AAA batteries, a hinge control (ideas for something that will do the trick and act as a switch are very much welcome too), a speaker, and some sort of a stepper motor/servo to spin the ballerina. I would love to get some ideas and supplies from you. This should be a pretty straightforward, simple project but I don't have much electronic experience and am not sure what to search to find the technology I need. Thank you, KoMoDo

As I said, there is NOTHING on any sites with instructions. Thanks so much, Patti Meadows

Jewelry - Salvaged Barbie Doll Parts

This is one of the more unique re-purposed jewelry ideas that I have seen.  At first I thought the faces and body parts were photos or maybe paintings.   However, the interesting and comical compositions are created using Barbie parts! The Plastic Body Series designed by Margaux Lange is a jewelry line that combines salvaged Barbie doll parts with sterling silver and pigmented resins. You actually HAVE to check out this link; I am so amused by this!

CAT PROOFING MY JEWELRY ETC....

I have a multi-toed (Polydactal) cat blessed with the ability to access most anything, and even open cabinets and drawers that slide open and shut. I have quite a few sets of earrings (by a few I mean close to 50ish) - I probably wear a variety of about 4 now because it's too hard to keep the favorites out and visible without my cat also seeing and being able to access them.  I saw some earring display ideas on the site, however, I really want to make something that is easy on the eyes but not something that becomes the center of attention in the room.  HELP!!!!

Soldering copper to copper?

I'm just starting out but most of the instruction I've seen on soldering (jewelry) talks about flux, the solder itself, and a torch or soldering iron. When soldering copper to copper is there a special flux and solder to be used so that the solder doesn't look "silver"? Does it matter whether you use a torch or a soldering iron?

Is it safe to use old ornament hooks for jewelry? Answered

I want to use some old, "giant staple-looking" ornament hooks to make beaded charms to hang off a choker, but I don't know what the hooks are made of. I don't really know anything about beading materials or jewelry-making in general. The packaging's long gone and they've been sitting in the toolbox for years. I made one charm and want to make more, but I don't know whether it's okay to keep using these hooks or use wire that's actually sold as wire for jewelry-making. Aside from "don't stab yourself, don't ingest the wire," I'd like to know whether this kind of metal can cause skin irritation or rashes or if that's an issue with any sort of metal (if the latter, is there anything I can do about it?). Unfortunately, I haven't tried wearing the charm I made because I have a bug bite on neck; the charm would brush right up against it. My fingers seem fine, though.

Melting Tin Alloy to make pendant jewelry

I've made several attempts to melt down a tin alloy metal (92% tin, 8% antimony) to make pendants; small pendants for necklaces. I haven't had any luck with this at all!  The mold has been cast - the metal has been chosen but...my process isn't working. I'm using a hot plate and a small teflon pan to melt the metal. The problems I'm running into are: Once I melt the alloy, I can't get it into the mold before it starts cooling.  It pours out too quickly from the pan, then cools too quick to finish pouring.  It's a small mold (1 3/4" diameter with 1/8" lines) which isn't helping I'm sure.  Not sure on a couple things I'm hoping somebody who know more about this than I do could possibly make some suggestions. I don't know if I should be using a flux to keep the metal clean because it is getting dirty after the melting. I don't know how to get it from the pan to the mold before it cools? Someone, I'd imagine, must have come out with a tool for transferring small amounts of metal to molds.  I tried a glass eye dropper today but didn't have any luck with the transfer process.  Not sure if a crucible and flux is the way to go or not. If so, does anybody know of a good company that has items designed for this type of work? Any and all help / info / suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!  Thank you

help wanted developing cool fidget jewelry

I have had an idea for creating cool non childish fidget toys as jewelry. My real idea is to create something which could use an ir sensor to pick up someones pulse and then play it back to them through a vibration motor.. (its similar to baby's reacting to there mothers heart beats in the womb an has a massively calming effect on most people,,, to the point where build a bare workshops has the option to include a beating heart)   I submitted the idea to Quirky but it wasn't taken on for one of there projects.. I think it still has legs an could be a commercial success. being there's already a bit of interest from educators who has seen research pointing to fiddle toys as being the best thing since the carbon atom arranged itself into cool new shapes. There are a few other alternatives which could be developed.. an i think it would be awesome to develop a whole range of these things an see them in jewelry shops looking like ailion artifacts with documents about how they can help you..  I think everything about it should be play with able , so magnets textures ect ect  Here is the initial idea  ____________________________________________________ People fidget,, A lot of people fidget. A lot of the time.. They fidget during presentations, on commutes, whilst thinking of ideas and whilst being productive on the internet. And that’s not a bad thing. Fidgeting helps people to be who they are. They wouldn’t do it if there wasn’t a good reason for it. From what I understand different parts of the brain are responsible for different things. And some of them are associated with each other. Interestingly for most people learning is enhanced when there doing something. Much more of the brain becomes active when any movement is involved. Retention of information becomes greater and creativity is increased as the parts of the brain associated with these things become active. I did some independent research on the strength of the book (Fidget to focus) when I did my teacher training, And found that though I didn't have a class full of what some would deem the unteachable I did have a class full of tappers, twiddles and shakers. When I gave them all the option to utilise just a simple shaped piece of wood, and the permit ion to fiddle with it during session they loved it. The feedback I got from the use of the wooden shapes was terrific. With 8 of the 15 students “forgetting” to give the shapes back at the end of the session. And the class being more engaged during the session. The Solution I aim to develop a range of warble fiddle toys primarily as jewellery. Jewellery is now gender neutral, A fiddle toy worn around the neck would allow for an easy accessibility in comparison to being fixed to an item of clothing. Jewellery can allow for a range of shapes to suet different people and allow for a shape or shapes ideal for those wanting to play. So far I have made a shape and seen that people like to play with it. I think the minimum next step would be to make this shape in different materials to give different textures weights and looks. But what I would really love to do would be to introduce all sorts of awesome new functions into the fiddle toy jewellery. I would love to include a number of different haptic responses potentially echoing the users pulse. This has been shown to calm infants simulating a factor present in the womb I know the sound of a heart beat is known to relax most people and has been included into calming music I suspect the same as a tactile would be just as calming helping someone to come from an elevated heart rate to a calmer one in a sympathetic match. Or starting off strong and diminishing from its trigger. Iterations could include a variable trigger like an old school stress relief toy. Magnets with a ruggedized coating to avoid clicking, tracking a whole host of things which could be useful in giving the user the best tools for understanding when they fiddle and why. __________________________ For the Quirky proposal which is pretty much exactly what is above https://www.quirky.com/invent/1603684/action/vote/query/view=trending&categories;=all
