I have a Leatherman Squirt P4. Recently, the Leatherman became magnetized somehow. What's the best way to demagnetize it?

Leatherman PST

I've been looking at instructables for a long time. I have not seen ONE Leatherman PST! Anyone out there have a Leatherman PST, and use it as frequently as I do? (everyday) Its a discontinued Leatherman, without some very useful features but it still has proved itself daily to me. I also have the leather sheath, not the nylon. Discuss Leathermans, but mostly the Leatherman PST.

Leatherman Contest?

Hey everyone, I had an idea. I always see all of these contests on here, and the instructables are great, but theres one contest that i have yet to see. A leatherman (or Multitool) contest! I can guarantee that atleast 75% of the instructables community owns and carries a leatherman/multitool, so why not see what great ideas they can come up with. A Leatherman has a million uses, so why not see the most creative things that can be made either entirely from a multitool, or modifications and accessories we can make for them. Its worth a shot,  so whos in?

Leatherman: Surge or Wave?

Ok, so I want to buy a Leatherman. I have narrowed the choice down to the Surge or the Wave. The Surge has more tools, but you cannot have the file and the wood saw at the same time. The Wave has both. I am swaying towards the Wave at this moment, do any of you have Leathermans and would recommend a certain one?

Leatherman Freetyle or skeletool?

Out of the reviews I have read, the Freestyle is the more popular of the two tools but I would like to hear some opinions on the two. Is the skeletool worth about 20 euro more for a screwdriver and clip and how does the freestyle fare as a multitool? Please tell me your opinion below. . .

Is there something wrong with my new Leatherman Wave? Answered

So I finally got a Leatherman Wave after finding a good price at a sports store for $55 (Wave+Croc+bit extension) but it isn't quite what I expected. I've never had a Leatherman before or a large multitool (Wave replaced a Gerber Dime), so maybe this is normal, but it is really stiff to fold at the pivot points. Some people say that it just needs to be opened and closed a lot to loosen it but I would like some advice. I haven't oiled it yet but I'm not sure what kind of oil to use. The tools and knives are ok, they don't require much force, but I am surprised by the folding action. Is the folding action supposed to go different ways? From the pictures I included, sometimes it goes to the right and sometimes to the left.

Suggestions for a MultiTool?

I am trying to find a nice multi tool and looking for suggestions. I am cheap and would prefer ~$40 but cheaper is MUCH better. I like leather man, especially the wave but their are a little expensive(If u know where to get cheap please share). I was looking at the sog power locks and powerassists but they look alittle large and had mixed reviews (mabee later life)

Is there a way to make a can-opener into a bit to fit in the bit-driver of a leatherman skeletool? Answered

I love my leatherman skeletool, but sometimes I am not able to do certain things with it, (such as opening cans) and if there was a way to take a can-opener, salvaged from another multi-tool, and put it in the bit-driver of the skeletool, I'd like to know.

Can't decide... EDIT: Choice made!

I'm buying a new multi-tool. I have been using a Leatherman Juice for almost seven years, and it's starting to show its miles.  I know I could replace it under Leatherman's guarantee, but it's one I won from Instructables, and it's engraved. So, I'm trying to choose a replacement, which will be part of my EDC. At the moment, I'm havering between the Gerber Crucial and the Leatherman Sidekick. I like the Crucial. My youngest has one for scouting, and I've used it a few times. It's quite comfortable in the hand, and feels strong. However, it lacks tools I have used quite a bit in the past. It's proving a hard choice, online reviews vary between useless and contradictory, so I thought I'd see what you folks think. What are you carrying as DIY EDC, what do you wish you were carrying? CHOICE MADE! I have a Leatherman Wave on it's way in the post!

What Multi-tool should I choose?

I was wounder is anyone could help me pick a multi-tool ether from Leatherman or Gerber, I really don't like swiss army. If it could be around $30 have the some of the following: Knife, pliers or scissors, assorted screwdrivers, file, lanyard, bottle opener, awl and tweezers. It doesn't need to have all thoughts things but some. I am currently thinking about a leatherman Squirt P4 or S4. I have had the Gerber clutch but the pliers broke off and it was really worn out so I thought to get something new. Right now I have the Swiss+tech utili-key on my key chain right now and its basically a knife/saw, bottle opener with a tiny screwdriver on it. I know your going to say to win one but it would be easier just to buy one. Any opinions and review about what you have would be great. Also it needs to fit comfortably in my pocket, it will be going everywhere with me including school so the blade has to be less then 2.5 inches and can not lock.

A Good Multi-Tool

I am trying to find a nice multi-tool that include the following features and not too expensive (less $100). EDIT: I meant less than $100. Pliers Wire Cutter Saw File 3" Knife (non-serrated) Scissors Can Opener Bottle Opener 2-3 Flat Screwdrivers (Large, Medium, Small) Phillips Screwdriver I like the look of the SOG PowerLock S60 ($50) with a replaced blade ($8) (1/2 serrated to straight) because of the geared pliers, the replaceable/interchangeable parts, the 1/4" drive and all the tools I want. Can anyone recommend tools that would fit for me?

Did the prize change?

I could've sworn that the first day the USB Contest was out, it said the first prize was a Leatherman "Squirt". Now it says Leatherman "Juice". I Didn't even know the squirt existed until I saw something yesterday, and I thought it was the prize from the USB contest. I'm not crazy, am I?

I broke my baby!! (UPDATED)

Disasterous news - I snapped my Instructables Leatherman, that has been somewhere about my person almost every day for more than five years. :'-( It's not an actual blade, it's the awl, but it's still left a painful, jagged stump that stops the tool being pocket-friendly (see the second photo). Do I just grind the stump off smoothly, or can the awl be replaced? UPDATE: it cannot be repaired, only replaced, so I'm going to grind it down to a new, shorter point.

Pro Suggestion: Points

Ok, so I thought this was a pretty good idea that could make people want to buy more Pro Memberships, and publish more Instructables. What if for getting different levels of featured, you could get points to trade in for different things. For example: Channel features could get 10 points, category features could get 25 points, and homepage features could get 50 points. Then, you could get points for being in the newsletter, and for getting featured on the flash box on the front page. You could trade the points in for more pro memberships, digital patches, stickers, or maybe if you saved up enough, a laser etched Leatherman. What do you think?

Key chain multitool

I was thinking of getting a multitool that is small enough to fit on your key chain. Here comes the dilemma though... I don't know what tool to get. Leatherman has the squirt and the Micra. Other companies have ones as well... I was thinking of getting the squirt, but if I do, I cant decide if I want the P4 (pliers) or the E4 (wire cutters). Ahhh I cant make up my mind. Any help? The thing about the pliers and wire cutters is I don't have a set of wire cutters. However, pliers would probably be used more often. But if I need the wire cutters, I would wish that I had got them instead. Right now I am leaning towards the pliers, but...

Tool belt / carrier

I'm new to the forum, so please be constructive with criticism if it's necessary. I'm looking for a way to carry around my tools (leatherman BLAST, cell phone (LG CU400), pencil, pen, BUNGEE notebook (maybe 5" x 3" or so)) in a comfortable, secure way. I hate using my pockets, and I'm a guy, so I don't carry a pocketbook or anything like that. I've been trying to figure out a way to secure said items on my body, but I find that everywhere I put them interferes with my motion, or makes too much noise as I'm prowling around behind friends :-P Does anyone have an idea for what I could do to solve this, is there an instructable already for something similar, etc.? Thanks in advance, and I hope this is the right place to post :)

Instructables Club for School?

Hey everyone, I am in high school, and I was just thinking it would be quite fun to have an Instructables club in our high school. I was just wondering if I have permission from the Instructables staff to start a club, because of all the copywright and whatnot. I was thinking of having annual contests, and the winners could get an Instructables Leatherman or something like that. I was also thinking of having the joined users from my school make a group to gather all of our ideas. Maybe the contestant in the contests could join our group and submit their Instructable, and the leaders of our club could decide a winner. Is this is good idea? And do I have permission? Suggestions are always welcome! Oh yea, when everyone sees use walking around in Robot-T-shirts, who wouldn't want to join? -Thanks -Brennn10

Halloween Make-Along 2016

Welcome to the Instructables Halloween Make-Along 2016!  This is a new event we are trying out this year, as a fun way to get motivated and stay on track for all our ambitious Halloween projects.  Every week, from now until the end of October, there will be a different theme or discussion prompt to participate in, and we will be doing weekly drawings for people who post in this forum thread to win a Leatherman Skeletool!  At the end, we will be doing a drawing for everyone who participates for the chance to win a Cannon EOS Rebel Camera!  So jump on in, show us what you're making to to get ready for Halloween! Week 1: September 19-25 Ideas, Inspiration, and Planning What is your costume going to be?  What are you going to build/make?  What materials do you need to make it happen?  Post your preliminary sketches! Week 2: September 26 - October 2 Measure Twice, Cut Once Assemble materials and begin your creation.  What steps are you taking as the foundation of your project? Week 3: October 3 - 9 Take notes! Start your instructable and write what you do as you go along.  It will make it much easier to remember what you did later on when trying to finish writing up your Instructable!  Remember to post about your progress on this forum thread! Week 4: October 10 - 16 Get by with a little help from our friends In a jam?  Ask for help!  If your project is going smoothly, see if you can help out someone else.  Words of encouragement definitely count as help! Week 5: October 17 - October 23 Home stretch   Hopefully, we are almost done!  How’s your progress?  Are you on track? Week 6: October 24 - October 31 Finishing frenzy and Final Touches Hopefully you’re almost done with your project!  Or...you waited until the last minute to start.  It’s all good, we will get through this together!
