Ball lever

Hi, I am making a ball machine in witch the balls enter the rotating lift from the side. I need a lever to release only one of the waiting ball to the lift (or letting one at the time through) Who has a suggestion?

New Pull-back Mechanism

I invented this new pull-back mechanism a few days ago. It uses a sort of lever to pull the ram rod back. You pull the lever, and the ram rod goes back. It gives you a great mechanical advantage when pulling back. Any thoughts, questions, comments or haikus?

need help with levers and pulley thingy

I need help. yet again... im making a piggybank that has wings on hinges(when pigs fly...) there is a lever that when a coin is inserted the lever is pushed down the lever is hinged on one end and the other end is the end that goes down. the end that goes down has a string. the two wings have a string on each running from the wing to a rod that rises from beside the coin insert on each side. i had one string run from wing A trough a eyelette on rod A through a eyelette on rod B then onto wing B. i then had the string from the lever go over the length of string between the two rods and then back to the lever. that only lifted the wings ~1 CM the wings need to be lifted ~6 CM but the downward pull is only ~1 CM and is not variable. i have several ideas floating around but i would appreciate your help.

Earthwise 50218 corded mower - control switch lever broken

We have an Earthwise 50218 corded mower that we've been very happy with. The only problem is that the control switch lever that is used to start the thing is plastic and broke. We were able to manage with it for a while but then it broke even closer to the base and cannot be used at all. Without this lever, the entire mower cannot start. It appears that the manufacturer doesn't sell a replacement part for this. The only official option was to buy an entire control assembly at $40. Has anyone else run into this problem? Any ideas on a cheaper solution for this simple, stupid problem? (The manual for this thing is here: https://www.powerequipmentdirect.com/manuals/earthwise-50118-50120-owners-manual.pdf)  Thanks!

Linkage for Linear Motion from Servo. Answered

This was originally going to be a question on mechanical advantage and tinsnips but I've realised the answer during typing the question. So, my follow-up question is . . . I'm looking to extend the throw of a servo and convert this to a roughly linear motion but still keep the whole mechanism compact.  I'd like around a 4 to1 gearing (with corresponding loss of force, of course).  Is there a simple linkage I should be looking at to get this?

Quick lever-action rifle question.

Right, so my current project is a lever action rifle that is ACTUALLY a lever action. I've seen a few off-spins, like knex mad's and RMConstruction's, but none of them used the lever to pull a round from a magazine and load it into the chamber. I plan on using this system, and was wondering if you guys would find it to be worth it if the rifle fired a simple round made of a grey clip connected to an orange flat connector with a green rod as opposed to using shells, because the shell mag I created was so frustrating in its connections and stiffness that I scrapped it. the lifting mech was also just absurd, so the pictures are of me manually loading it to show the idea. I included a couple pics of the shell mag as I destroyed it, just in case someone can use the idea and do a better job. Any input would be much appreciated! Oh, and the lever will pull back the ram as well, so all it would take is one swing of the lever, and you fire, then repeat.

How can I make a physical randomized trigger?

There is a board game called "Pie Face" that uses a randomized trigger to release a hand that has whipped cream on it- which splats into your face.  So the trigger cant be so strong that it breaks your nose, but fast enough to hit ones face before their reflexes dodge it.  I would love to get my hands on one of these to figure out how the mechanism works, but the game is unreasonably expensive.  Anybody have any ideas?

Difference between V and Canti brake levers? Answered

Hello, I know why a cantilever brake lever cannot be used with a V type brake and vice-versa and thought that I could tell the different types just by looking at the the lever. I thought that if the lever has a tag like the first picture, for the nipple to sit in, then it is for a V brake... and if the nipple goes directly in, like the second picture, then it is for a cantilever. Is this always the case? Is that correct? I'm not so sure now. Is there a definitive way of telling at a glance or by measuring, what type of lever I have. I can't seem to find the answer by googling around. Thank You.

Break Action Gun with Shells

Hey Guys, I recently made this break action gun. I know it's nothing that new and that's why I didn't post it, but I might if you want me to. If I do decide to post it, I would change a few things. It's not the best looking gun out there and I would probably work on that, but it functions perfectly. It shoots white rods about 30 feet. It has an eject lever to eject spent shells. That's the biggest problem I've seen on other break action guns. I'll explain everything in the image notes so be sure to read them. Tell me what you think needs to be changed. Let me say this gun is more made for fun not war. Killer~SafeCracker

how to modify a twin window fan for easy cleaning

Hi, I was given a twin window fan which works just fine but is dirty (dirt and a fair number of ex-gnats).  The manual is no help as it says to wipe the exterior with a damp cloth.  I thought it would be a simple job to just take out the 12 screws holding the two halves together but unfortunately the off-high-low levers (one on each side) are preventing me from separating the two halves.  I can't see any screws holding the lever mechanism in.  I tried rotating one side 90 degrees to see if I could slide the lever out through it's slot but it's too fat. I've had other twin window fans with the same set up and never could get them opened up.  It annoys me that the manufacturers make it so difficult to clean these fans.  I think a fair number of people have this problem and just give up as the local thrift store gets these fans in all the time.  I'm thinking of using my dremel with the cutting wheel and somehow slice off the lever knob.  It would mean we would have a shorter lever on one side but we can live with that.  The lever is kind of wobbly and I'm trying to figure out how to hold it steady without having my fingers so close to the cutting wheel. I know this is a really small problem but it really bugs me that something that should be so easy is difficult.. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Automatic transmission "lever" broke off ('03 Ford Explorer).. Help?

Okay, so here's the rundown. I drive an old '03 Ford Explorer. Seeing as I'm 16 and yet live in the humble abode of my parents, I get the chance to share a driveway (and oh what an experience!). One day, I park behind my mother's vehicle, and she needed to get out. I was out with a friend at the time, so she decides to attempt to move it herself -- without the keys. She attempts to jam the car into neutral to roll it out, and lo and behold, the lever for the transmission breaks! I'm in absence of the ability to tow, nor have I had time to call a local mechanic for an estimate. Albeit it's an older car, but I'd love to have it repaired. The lever itself is hanging from a couple cords, and I do have a spare wheel that I can have installed, so I decided to come here with my question. Does anybody have a clue on what I should do, and if possible, a bottom-line price that they could shoot over? Anything will help.. Thanks! (Images will be added VERY soon.)

Is there a quiz program to answer with yes or no that is compatible with a arduino uno.

I have a question about a project for school with a arduino uno. I have one arduino uno and 4 servo motors and 2 LCD displays, and some jumpwires (male and female) What i want to create is a race course made out of wood and i want to use the motors as levers. You can play this game with 2 players and the purpose of the whole game is to reach the finish earlier than your apponent. To this game i want to add educational quistions with yes or no as a answer. When a guestion is answered right the levers should open. If you answer a question wrong the levers should stay closed. I also want to make sure that if the player reaches the finish some LED lights blink. Is there a quiz program that i can use or could you help me make my own quiz program ? could you help me. Kind regards, Nassinho.

I want to make a washing machine painting;a hard rectangle board with a round board and you pull a lever. How do I?

I want to make an interactive painting of a washing machine. The person pulls a lever and the round board spins (easy version) or the person puts in a coin that causes the round board to spin. I can't figure out what goes on behind the artwork to make it work. And is there a book or online site to show me how to make simple gears and levers? I'm thinking about going back to school to learn mechanical engineering; that's how much I want to do kinetic art. Something like a wheel of fortune comes to my mind. Gripper toy/Prosthetic Prototype

Well its a simple cycle brake (side pull single pivot, brake pads removed) inserted in a glove that can be used to grab objects. The initial idea was to build on it further and have the brake lever fitted under the armpit such that when the arm is moved towards the body the lever gets pulled and the grip tightens to grab objects for persons who might be missing part of the hand from below the elbow. However didn't get any further for various reasons, would be very happy if anyone would find it useful.

Hydraulic Shocks - how to get/install/use them...?

I recently obtained a nice massage table for my wife (she does massage, studying to be an aesthetician too)... and it has a very nice feature; beneath the head-end of the table, there is a little lever, when depressed it raises from flat to about 60 degrees; and stops at any point in between as soon as the lever is released. And it stays there, even with most of my weight (250 pounds or so) pushing down against it. As soon as you press the little lever, it can be moved up or down again. I looked it over, and much of the mechanism is hidden, but I can see it relies on a (deceptively small) gas shock or hydraulic shock, like what is used in many car trunks and 3rd/5th door lifts for SUVs and hatchbacks. Though, obviously much stronger than those devices. So my question is, where can I find one of these things, and how does it come to be controlled by a little lever so that it can stop at any given point and bear a load without moving until the level is once again depressed? The main reason for my query is that the massage table is too narrow by far, and I plan on making a bigger one for her, with a few nicer features; but that is one I have no idea how to duplicate at the moment! Thanks!

And you thought pump-action guns were cool...TVIKT entry

Well you obviously haven't seen the Knetix L-SAR prototype.  The lever-system assault rifle introduces a whole new concept that can easily be improved (in fact, I need some ideas on how to get it to pull back further, so if you have any, leave a comment).  It being a prototype, it does not perform well at all, so I made removable firing pins-one that gets about 45-50 feet with one rubber band, but you have to pull it back manually, and one that you use the lever to pull back, but only gets about 15 feet, and is very unreliable (I explain that more in the video).  It also introduces a new magazine that is also very innovative, being a top loading mag with an internal pusher-kind of like ironman69's with the bendy rod, but still it's own thing.  I  am very proud of this gun and I hope that people can come up with ideas to increase the pull-back capacity of the lever, so it can perform as well as with the manual pin.  Here is the video link: www.youtube.com/watch

LED with Impact Trigger?

Hi All, I'm somewhat new to the DIY home tech space, so hello :) I'm trying to create a small piece of hardware for a game I'm building at home.  The idea is similar to something you'd see at a carnival or fair... throw a ball at an object attached to a lever, when the lever moves have an LED array flash. I'm hoping you can provide some guidance or insight into where I might begin.  I'm not looking to become a master with this so any sort of kit or maybe even plug and play pieces would be greatly appreciated.  I found these LED rings that I thought might be good for the messages that flash when triggered, although I'm sure I could build them myself for a whole lot less: http://amzn.to/11ZuCTQ Thanks in advance!
