I'm back.  I've got some projects that I'd like to post but it's going to take a while to do so.  It's hard to take good pics of a tiny crochet hook, thick thread, and the minute stitches that you just created!  I think I'll just take pictures of the bigger version, the stitches are the same either way.  As for the other project, I think I bit off more than I could chew so I need a new approach or to actually come up with the math equation for something I just wing without thinking...  Lots of problems to solve! HERE IT IS. The Brickster LDS is a hybrid crossbow. It doesn't have a bow. It has a range of 250 to 300 feet with 16 to 32 rubber bands. It is extremely strong and could hold about 80lbs of force. The arrows are smaller than an average crossbow arrow so they fly slightly faster. It has no track so it is a slingshot type crossbow. Will be posted in a month or 2. Amazingly powerful. Has over 800 pieces and a Ballista attachment that rolls and keeps it at a 30 degree agle with the ground. Low piece and a great gun, If only I could show you. . . . . . . . . . . WAIT, I CAN!!!!!!!!!!

Hello.  Does anybody have any idea on how to make a very cheap proximity sensor, which could work over a distance of about 100 metres? I want to make a system where LEDs (carried by people!) change colour as they approach a certain point, i.e, white LEDs turn red as they move towards a central point. The problem is I want to have 50+ separate LEDs, and I'm on a very tight budget! Any ideas appreciated. Thanks!

Well I wasn't that active in making guns, but I think I should move on to bigger things. I will still lurk around instructables, however you wont see me doing knex guns unless I have an ingenious new idea that I'm sure I can portray correctly. Can anyone recommend a good instructable to boost the reception range for my computer's wifi device? I know there are tons of them on here already, I just need to know which ones might have the longest range. Another thing is what design would be best. The kind involving a parabolic dish/mesh to direct signals to a usb dongle. One that is more of an omni direction antenna. One that makes use of one of the old sattelite tv dishes sitting in the garage. Requesting advice, comrades.

I have an idea for a nightlight for kids or even adults in the hallway or something.  But I am running into a problem.  The main housing for this light is going to be pretty small.  I was first planing on running this off a household electrical plug and that would work best.  But I would not know quite how to step down the power from the wall to only run 2-3 led lights.  I am sure I could get some sort of small circuit board that would drop the current.  However because of the small housing I doubt I could fit that in there.  I know I am not giving a whole lot of details but I do not want to give away my idea quite yet.  What I am wondering is how long would say 1 AA battery run 3 LED lights?  I am thinking this idea is not going to work out because people are not going to want to have to replace there battery every week or even more.  So if anyone has some input on this idea then please let me know.  The housing I think I would have to work with would be something like a pipe that is maybe 1 inch across the opening by about 2 -3 inches long.  So nut much room to work with at all. I'm trying to build a guidance system for RC airplanes and drones. This should work by sending different IR signals to different locations in the air, so the drone will pick up signals specific to one location, enabling it to know where it is. (Like a mini, simplistic VOR, if you know about aviation) I'll probably use an Arduino on the ground with the transmitter, and a Raspberry pi onboard the airplane. I would like the IR signals to reach as far as possible, so does any one know of any small, high power IR LEDs? Also, if you have a good idea on how the signals could be accurately focused, so they line up next to each other without over lapping, let me know.Thanks!

The last few weeks I've been helping my colleague sell some items before he retires. Yesterday he gave me this as a thank you.This tiny film camera is from the 1930's, its a great example of early plastics (Bakelite). At the time they came in 7 different colours, its just like the iPod all over again! You can see how small the item is from the photographs (usb/penny to show size).The main sales line for the camera was,Its not as long as a cigarette Which at the time was the main pocket sized item you would compare something to.The camera itself took a 16mm photographic paper, and its lens could focus from anything from 5ft - infinity. Included in the images is one of the original leaflets selling the camera in the US (points to whom can pick out the physical impossability).Also included is a PDF of the original manual that I found images for on the internet then cleaned up and pushed through quark.Now, you might be asking yourself, what is gmjhowe going to do with it? Well, I intend to use it as its meant to be used. So Ive ordered myself some 120 camera paper (which can be cut down to the 16mm paper I need.) along with some chemicals.No doubt I will put up an instructable for it! My aim is to carry it around everywhere, so as to catch that artistic photo. Of course I will make it a nice little leather case to protect it, the item itself is valued at about £70!Anyone got any suggestions? Or, is anyone else into B&W; photography and want to share there thought/advice?

As a participant in AngryRedHead's Photo challenge, I've noticed that, as the thread gets longer, navigating it to find my past comments and replies is getting... odd. Using the next and previous buttons seems mixed up.  Sometimes you don't get a new set of comments, sometimes you get a few extra comments in between the ones you already saw, sometimes nothing happens. My tests got me thinking, since I want to go gaming on Garry's Mod so bad, but then my coalition of brainwaves composed of rational thoughts and my conscience told me that I can achieve my short-term goals (gaming) in conjunction with my long-term goals (owning my classmates in the tests then gaming afterwards) if I achieve certain short-term goals (studying) that would require focus, determination, and moral (can't study when you're depressed). The reason why I posted this here in Instructables is because I wanted to know your opinions about short-term and long-term objectives. Like, which is better, short-term or long-term missions? You would get me if you're in my situation, sitting in front of the computer, worrying about the tests, but then you wanna go gaming. Once I get enough data, I can post an I'ble about my conclusion. Alright, I know its been a long time and there are probably a lot of things posted on my ibles that i haven't answered. If thats the case then just ask anything you want on this forum and I'll get to answering it. Because it has been such a long time i was kind of expecting to see some great new stuff out there, but I have to say, I'm not very impressed. Sure there are some good guns that came out, a couple bolt actions and bullpups that were impressive, but other than that, theres not much new. We aren't ging to get anywhere unless we start coming up with new ideas and sharing those ideas so that others can make them better. If I built a radio transmitter and then attached it to an antenna of unknown length, is there a way to calculate the length of it using transmissions? Or, as a separate question, if I had an antenna of known length and then increased or decreased the length, would there be a way to estimate the new length from transmission properties (basically without physically measuring the antenna?
