E-mail

I E-mailed in a few howrs ago (and can I say, kudos on the reply speed, I got a reply within half an hour). The probelm is that I sent in one E-mail and in reply I got four, two of which were very useful human generated messages (a little odd having two, but fine) and two generic auto generate messeges, I thought I'd let you know so that, if this is unintentional, it could be sorted.

Mail Fraud

So we canceled AT&T; service a few months ago, and we have been getting a bill from them every month since. Each month, we call, they apologize and tell us to ignore the bill. Today, the lady transferred us to another department which happened to be closed, ending the call. I know this is considered mail fraud...using the US Postal Service to unlawfully attempt to obtain money. Does anybody know of any resources for helping to write a letter to them that would explain that what they are doing is illegal, and threaten legal action if they don't stop immediately. So any templates for cease and desist letters would be great. Thanks!

Windows 10 Mail

Recently I've been having an issue with the instructables news letter in the windows 10 mail application.  The links in the body of the news letter don't all work.  The larger featured links and the contest links allow me to click through tot he intructables site.  The smaller individual projects don't do anything. It's almost like there is no link associated with them.  This issue seems to be limited to the windows 10 mail application. If I open the e-mails on my android tablet, or in the MSN web mail application I can click through all of the links.   I don't have any problems with any other messages in the windows 10 mail application.  This is a recent development for the last 4 or 5 news letters. I used to be able to click through all of the links.  It could have something to do with an update to the app but why do only some of the links work? Has any one else had issues with windows 10 mail and instructables? Thanks Frank

E-mail Newsletter

I am unable to access interesting topics from the newsletter directly.  I get this message when I click on a link: "Due to the presence of characters known to be used in Cross Site Scripting attacks, access is forbidden. This web site does not allow Urls which might include embedded HTML tags." I am using a web mail (cox) and chrome.  Your e-mail doesn't have a link on top for "if you can't see this in your browser", which would be nice as going to the home page doesn't show the current e-mail information.  ie Sonic Screwdriver by MrTinkerer   I've never seen the above warning before and it doesn't sound like one I want to see.  ;-}

Snail-mail PMs

I've been experiencing very slow PMs recently, typically a delay of two days between pressing send and the message being received. The same has been happening the other way as well.Is it just me, or is something wrong? As an aside, I am typing this on a borrowed EeePC. Odd little beast.

email of 'structables unreadable

I used to like to get the emails of projects.  but for at least 8 months, and even worse now, they are basically unreadable in a piss-poor formatting style.  At least on Apple Mail client.  Stuffed spaced WAY out/apart. Its a miserable experience.  About to just spam filter it now.  its useless.

How do I restore individual Outlook Express .dbx files? Answered

Hi, I have recovered files from a blown hard drive and there are 100's of .dbx files found in the email section.(These are what the recovery software thinks are Outlook Express folders). When you try import them through the OE6 interface, there's always an error. It appears that it's looking for a mail "Store" which is composed of a group of related .dbx files. Updated e-mail address doesn't change in the newsletter mailing

Changed my profile's e-mail address and confirmed it, and it shows under my profile. However I still get newsletter e-mails under the old e-mail address. I assume they're two different databases, but then how do I delete the old address from the newsletter mailing database?

Fan mail! From Adrian Monk

We got a package in the mail today from Adrian Monk. As you can see, it's a plaster hand just like the one on the site. Super cool. We heartily endorse the sending of fun stuff to us in the mail. Always. The hand and the base didn't stay together, but we put some epoxy on it and it's curing right now. Should be just fine when it's done.

I received some wonderful mail yesterday

Check out what someone sent my boyfriend yesterday! We have no idea who. They did not put a return address on (which I believe is against postal regulations here in the USA). The stamp was canceled by hand (with a Sharpie) so we don't even have a postmark to go by. Comment here if you have any idea who it was!

But it's not my question at all, I just tried to answer someone else's question. I don't need to know what I just said. Easy to make mail sorter?

I get so much mail everyday and my mother-in-law just tosses in a pile at my spot at the table. I'm usually so tired after work and other things take priority. In the end I have a huge mess and have no space to do anything. I picked up a cheap 3 slot mail sorter but it filled up too quickly and didn't have enough slots to separate my mail effectively, and the cat kept knocking it off the table. I'm looking for an organizer to hang on the wall that has about 10 slots or more and a place for stationary, pens, paper clips, post-its, etc... All the ones I have found online are way too expensive.

Feature request: mass-mail to subscribers

I have just realised how many people have subscribed to me (over 370!). Since they have taken a special interest in me, I feel I ought to be able to reward them somehow. I would like to be able to send a message to all my subscribers at once, giving them advance notice of ibles etc, to let them get first chance to comment or suggest improvements before I publish it to the general public. Update: the majority of replies seem to be in favour or neutral. (For instance, I currently have two projects awaiting publication that are complete enough for useful comments to be made, but not complete enough to publish properly.) Would you have liked the chance to comment on a project a few hours before everybody else? Or to be able to contribute to it before it is published? Or maybe you want to publish a project that is unavailable to the wider public because it does not meet the site's usual family-friendly standards? Or am I giving the concept of subscribers more significance than I ought?

Home Made Chain Mail(le) Armour

Hey everyone, I am relatively new to the site but not at all to making my own things out of my head. Currently my only problem is how to do these things and the biggest of these is currently how to make Chain Mail(le) Armour from wire at home and by hand, with tools of course. My friend and I plan on making some for Halloween/ School Project/ metal forge safety gear. What I really need to know about all of this is how to make the rings, weave them, and seal them together (riveting, welding, etc...) and I was really hoping all of you people could help, what with the fact that you all seem good at this kind of thing. Feel free to leave suggestions for materials, tools, kinds of wire, and anything else you can think of that might be helpful. I plan on posting a full Instructable on doing this when we finish and perfect it, and thanks in advance for any help that is given.

It had to happen: Real SnailMail

In hindsight, it's inevitable that somebody would create genuine snail mail, and recruit actual snails to carry actual messages. The gastropods have been fitted with equipment to allow them to send e-mails on behalf of visitors to a website.Instead of instantaneous communication, sent messages will travel at 0.03mph (0.05km/h) and could take days, weeks or even months to arrive. It is part of a "slow art" project called Real Snail Mail at Bournemouth University in the UK which will be showcased in Los Angeles in August. Each snail is fitted with a tiny capsule which holds a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip. RFID allows objects to communicate over short distances.Users of the service send a message via the Real Snail Mail website which is routed to the tank at the speed of light to await collection by a snail "agent".As the three snails slowly amble around the tank, they occasionally come into range of an electronic reader, which attaches the e-mail message to the RFID chip. The electronic messages are then physically carried around the tank by the snails until one of the gastropods passes close to a second reader. It is then forwarded over the net in the usual way. So far, the three snails have managed to deliver 14 messages.Users of the service will hope that Austin is on hand to collect their messages. The Snail has made 10 of the deliveries so far with an average delivery time of 1.96 days. SnailMail siteBBC story

I am planning to build a parcel delivery box that would accept large box deliveries from things I order on amazon namely.  The boxes vary in size but I am wondering if anyone would weigh in on how large of a package you think should fit.  I have already decided the drop box will be cut into the wall on the side of my garage where I am relocating my mail slot.  That means it will fit between two studs approximately 16" apart, but the height is open to negotiation.  Thanks guys.
