NanoSoccer

The national Institute of Science and Technology and Robocup have been working on a cool thing that they're calling Nanosoccer, where nano-scale robots go around pushing a ball, ideally into a goal. It's pretty cool, it has even become a robo-nano-soccer competition. via hackaday

A Pi-powered Portable Experimenter's Bench, PEB

We are appealing for your support for our startup project, to turn our vision into a reality.  Our vision also includes anytime, anywhere, hands-on learning for STEM topics.  STEM = Science, Technology, Engineering (Arts) and Math. We are a small startup operation building a new resource for hobbyists, or electronic hobbyists-want-to-be--a smart experimenter's platform that removes the sometimes difficult bits and bytes, and relies on your PC, tablet, or smartphones for user-interface. For instance out of the box, our PEB, allows experimentation like Measuring speed of Sound, Locating source of a sound, Determining direction and distance of a Sound, etc.  with our PEB, configured with Ras-Das-1 and Audio Explorer board, totaling for less than $150, plus shipping. See--http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/254558907/data-acquisition-system-for-raspberry-pi and our website http://www.WattminderInstruments.com, for details. We need to have minimum funding to get PCBs and assemblers under contract to produce them, and on  a portal  like Instructables  to help us distribute them around the world.   Please let your  members know about our product and future plans and invite their support to make it a reality.  Electronics is the gateway to science learning. Nanotech makes white LEDs 5x brighter than before with warmer light.

New research with nanocrystals has created a new LED that gets 300 lumens per watt. Even better, the light is a warm white and not the cold blue-tinted white that we all know. The crystals absorb some of the LED's blue output and emit their own red and green light. That combines with the remaining blue light to produce a soft white glow.Existing commercial white LEDs are also based on blue LEDs. But they use a phosphor coating that converts some blue light into a broad spectrum of yellow light. When mixed with remaining blue light the result is a harsh blue-hued white. Link

Arduino Nano as ISP Programmer?

I was excited to find out that an arduino could be used as an ISP programmer. But when I found out that the arduino uno does not support this feature, my dreams were crushed. I did recently buy an arduino nano and was wondering if I could use this as an ISP programmer. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help!

Playstation Portable (PSP) and iPod Nano 4th Generation

I am selling my PSP gaming system, and my iPod Nano 4th generation. Neither have many scratches (In fact, no deep scratches.), but the nano has a chip of paint missing on the side, which I would estimate to be around 1.5mm across. Very unnoticeable. I would LOVE to trade them both for an iTouch, but I would be willing to sell them. If you have any interest whatsoever, feel free to PM me for pictures/further information! Thank you!

Waterproofing IPod?

Hey guys,  I like to run in the rain a lot, however I am worried about my IPod being damaged. I have an older IPod Nano, and I do have waterproof earbuds. I was wondering if anybody had any ideas on how to waterproof it, or make a waterproof casing. The biggest concern is the large charging plug in on the bottom. I have looked for waterproof cases, but I did not see any that fit my needs. Thank you for your time and help

Micro LEDs... How can I power them in the smallest footprint possible???

Hi - I've been a "member" for 5 years now, but unfortunately never submitted projects... I'm more of an observer than a teacher :) I have this project I've been thinking of for quite some time now, but I simply cannot come up with a way to make it real. It's pretty simple, I just want to be able to light up an extremely small LED in a very small amount of space. But, I'm finding the power source is the headache. I wanted to get input or suggestions from anyone willing to share/help me! Basically, I have a 5mm diameter space (x approx 7mm high) to work with... and this would be to house the LED, power source and any type of on/off control or switch. My initial thoughts were toss in a micro LED, run it off of a wireless coil or super small battery and control it with a magnetic latching switch for on/off control. But, since the original idea popped up, it appears for wireless power the coil would need to be too large to fit in this space. For battery power, I've found very small 1.5V watch batteries that I could stack in a pair for 3V, but I've learned they would likely only run an LED for about 15-20 mins before they'd die. If they were wireless, I'd want some free range of motion and distance on the LEDs, being able to light up at least 6 ft. or so from the power source, if possible. This is driving me crazy! Can it be done, without costing a ton of money to develop?

HELP!!!! IPOD NANO BUTTON NOT WORKING!!!!!

Ok.... So I just pushed the power button to change the song on my Ipod Nano (6th Generation) to change the song (U2's Crumbs From Your Table).  It didn't work. The button is sort of limp and doesn't click anymore like the + and - buttons for the volume. I can't turn it off or change the song. Only turn the same song's volume up or down and listen. This is the worst part - I'm in Japan as an exchange student. Not only have I lost access to lots of Western culture (keeping me sane), but this fix also has to be super cheap and easy. I'd also rather not mess this Ipod up. PLEASE HELP!!!!  - basementhacker

iPod nano (3rd generation) charger

There are a lot of post about Ipod chargers and I was not able to charge my ipod yet! I tried different resistors on the data lines (D- D+), 5V to Pin 13 and Ground to pin 16. It shows charging for a little and then stop. I need to have a good simple circuit diagram, with the right resistor to charge my Ipod nano 3rd generation using a 5V power supply (picture of model attached). Thanks for your help in advance! Gracias.

iPod Nano 3rd gen haz DIED please help!

Yes, that's right. I'm unhappy about it. I turned it on, and it worked, turned it off, then 45 minutes later, it wouldn't turn on. IT wasn't dropped, banged, or touched. It wasn't EMP'ed or anything. IT won't turn on, it won't synch to my computer, and no the lock isn't on. It's about 18 months old. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Minty Boost Help

So, I plugged in the USB to an iPod Mini and the whole cicuit goes blank. I tried it on some person's MINI, but the light shut off right when I switched the switch. HOWEVER, it did work on my iPod Nano and my sister's iPod Mini. It seems like the circuit is shorting out on the MINI and not on the Ipod Nano. I am thinking it is a problem with the noob sauce's MINI, but I do not know why it is shorting out and turning the light out on the charger. Thanks -Brennn10

Tim's Cybot conversion to Arduino NANO

Hi all.I'm doing a new project.Dug out my Cybot. The one built on a fortnightly issue of Real Robots back in 2001.I decided to convert it to use the Arduino NANO. With Bluetooth and Infrared Control.I haven't finished it yet, so I haven't done an instruction here, I thought I would wait until I have finished the project before doing that. However, as it's quite a lengthy project, I have started a blog on my google+. Which I am updating as I progress with the project. Here is the link: Tim's Cybot conversion to Arduino NANO Blog. Before I started I had a search on the net to see if anyone else had done this, but all I found was basic stuff controlling the drive motors.Currently I have done a rough sketch (some fine tuning still needs to be done) for it that lets you:Control it via bluetooth,Set it in line follow mode,Set it in light follow mode,Set it in avoidance modeandControl it with an Infrared Remote.I'm sure there is still a lot of these Cybots out there, so i thought their may be some interest.

can you play podcasts on a 2nd generation iPod nano?

Right now I'm kind of mad I got this shiny 2nd generation iPod nano About...one year ago and today I went to apple.com to see if it was first or second generation or something along those lines. So I look on the site and to my surprise apple dose not even list my ipod as one of the current items apple is selling. Kind of in the same manner a group of schoolchildren shun or banish if you will;the children that they label as malcoms or something. And this made me mad. so I go back to the oringial reason of my post can you play podcasts on my 2nd generation iPod nano? because my friend told me you could. and if you can howwould you download them onto the ipod to begeain with? thank you so much.

Anyone that bought a 6th gen iPad Nano still have all the packaging? I have a project in mind to repurpose the plastic packing, and I could use either the interior paper packaging for reference, a decent scan of it, or a vector image.

Neopixel motorcycle brake light and turn signals

Hello all,  i am planning to use a string of 144/m Neopixel RGB strip as a rear light unit for my upcoming motorcycle project. the idea is to have the lights work as rear running light, brake light, indicators and emergency indicators. so far i figured that i would need: - Arduino Nano(didn't want to use a a big micro controller, need to fit under a thin seat) - Water tight container to house the Arduino(also not to big) - Grommet to run the wires safely and dry in and out of the Arduino container - 1M Neopixel 144/m RGB  - Various wires - Clear 3/4" width PVC tube - Some Arduino programming knowledge i was planning to use the running power source from the motorcycle to power everything, which is 12v, now if i am correct the Arduino nano can take the 12v no problem, i am wondering if i power the Neopixels through the nano if i would need a power converter to switch the output to 5v from 12v. also i am not sure how the whole analog switching to digital signalling would work, so if any of you more experienced with Arduino people have any ideas or suggestion it would be much appreciated! Cheers Mimizuku.

Arduino + Stepper

Hi! I have an Arduino nano and a Minebea PM55L stepper motor and I have to connect these two together. I read the Arduino tutorials, and got a ULN2003 chip. The thing I am unsure of is the power supply and which wires of the motor do what or should be connected to what. There's 6 of them and I really don't want to fry anything if at all possible. Could somebody help out, please?

Does anybody happen to have the pinouts along with the command strings of an ipod click wheel? Im looking to install one in my car so I can connect my ipod touch to it and use the commands from the click wheel to control the touch.  The wheel i have is from a 2nd gen nano, but im guessing any of the new wheels are similar.

I'm only gonna try asking once more

I have a 75 watt mirage nano 8 inch sub, it's really meant for quality, not quantity, but I need a little more out of it, anyone have any ideas, I've heard that poly fill can make it more efficient and make the coil work less, so louder results. If I had the money, I want this pioneer sub that my friend had, a 700 watt 18 inch sub or something like that, it was unaturally large.

need help for nrf24l01+

Well i am using rf24 module for a project since i am new to it i am having some difficulties to send the data. Actually i am doing a remote consisting of a geeetech voice module + nrf24 + arduino nano. It must communicate with a hub which comprises of arduino uno + rf24 + relays. I have tested the voice module and the data is read as serial command. see the code for a simple example without rf24 below. For my project i need to make the transmitter read the serial command of the voice module and send it to the receiver side. In the receiver side it will activate relay with a switch case section. I would appreciate if anyone could help me out and suggest me how to send the command of the geeetech voice module via rf24. //code for simple test between voice module and nano int led1 = 2; int led2 = 3; byte com = 0; void setup() { Serial.begin(9600); pinMode(led1, OUTPUT); pinMode(led2, OUTPUT); delay(2000); Serial.write(0xAA); Serial.write(0x37); delay(1000); Serial.write(0xAA); Serial.write(0x21); } void loop() { while(Serial.available()) { com = Serial.read(); switch(com) { case 0x11: digitalWrite (led1, HIGH); //turn red on break; case 0x12: digitalWrite (led2, HIGH); // turn yellow on break; case 0x13: digitalWrite (led1, LOW); // turn red off break; case 0x14: digitalWrite (led2, LOW); // turn yellow off break; case 0x15: digitalWrite (led1, LOW); digitalWrite (led2, LOW); // turn both off break; } } }

Ipod laser pointer hack...

bought a laser pointer that plugs into a 2nd gen iPod nano (hey it was $2), and since I don't own one, (3rd gen FTW) I took it apart. Now I've got some problems: a) How much power does an Ipod put out? I cant just hook this sucker up to a AA? I don't wish to power it through an iPod. b) The negative wire wasn't soldered, I think i know where it goes but I'd like to be sure All I know is it's a red laser pointer laser, and there wasn't any info on the packaging other than don't shine in your eye...

Post your speaker systems here!

What kind of speaker system do you have? Doesn't matter if it's computer speakers or concert stacks :p Me: -Kenwood 1060vr surround amp 110 watts per channel - 550watts -Technics tower speakers, twin woofer mutual effect system, 230 watts each Mirage nano sub (canadian made) with ribbed foam surround (clean sounding!) - 300 watts I still have yet to get the rear channels set up, but it's useless without the remote as you need it to turn the surround channels on *has pissed off look*. Anyone have a kenwood 1060vr remote??

Circuit for multiple LEDs

Hello to all, I'm attempting to use a new nano-technological material (which is conductive) as both a resistor and as a conductor in an LED circuit (it works well as both). At the moment I have a parallel circuit with a 9v battery source and about 10-15 white LEDs..problem is only the first 3 are lighting up (at least with a decent amount of light). Do I simply need to change the circuit to a series or is there something else I can do to get an even (and bright) distribution of power through about 10-15 LEDs?? I would also rather only use a 9volt battery if I can help it. Thanks for any advice :) ~Kate
