Ok, please don't kill me. I made an RBG. But not just any RBG, this one is a rifle. And it looks good. And I want to know if I should post it. Should I? Below are various pictures of the gun. It is vaguely based off of the FN2000. Hope you enjoy, Danke.Edit: The instructable is done. The link is here.

This forum is for anyone who can come up with an idea or can post a gun made from k'nex that works (does something) and resembles a real gun (or one from a video game)Also, you can post ideas or pics of guns you would like to be made by me (or anyone for that matter), and I encourage anyone to post a new loading, shooting, or feeding mechanism that is new to this site- ie: my lever action mechanism, or slide-cocked rod shooter (modification of mechanism by macbeasty)Make guns n have fun

Hi everybody, I saw a tutorial on how to make led light-bulb , https://www.instructables.com/id/21-W-Led-Bulb-1450-Lumens/ , this one. I have a led strip which i can use, the only problem , the strip is RGB , and i want it to give of white light. i don't have a controller for them, and i don't really want to use one. So my question is : can i wire them in some way to give of white light ? Thanks.

So... I got my start on this site with a Knex Rubber Band Gun Riffle... and improved it to the M4 Spectre... then I came out with the wrist fire one... Since these first 3 projects, I've built a Magpul PDR and a sniper rifle (both RBG)... but both got taken apart ages ago... so what I would like to do is re-start the RBG series... and I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for guns to make? And If you wouldn't build a RBG say so... because I don't want to waste my time wasting yours... Please note... I know that the quality of my earlier RBG models was low at best... they were "wire frames"... I do intend on making the newer ones "full-bodied" and with no "wire-frames" So yea... throw some ideas out there...

Hey, I'm new here, but I've spent a lot of time on this site searching for a knex gun that fit my standards. See, most of the good guns on this site are very cool, but don't have enough instruction. The ones that do, no offense to anyone, are mostly throw togethers that need improvements. I'm kind of sick of searching the site for hours, so I'm asking some knex building experts to help me out. If your not interested, leave now but please hear me out. Recently, I've decided to scrap my old knex models, leaving me with lots of unused knex. I have a lot of pieces, a working motor, and long legths of chain. If you would like to help, I am asking ANYONE if they would help clarify their gun, point out a good model, or design a new gun. RBG of rod shooter, I couldn't care less. I would really appreciate the help, but if you are just here to rip on me, please don't, all I want to do is build a gun. Thank you very much

Hey, I'm new here, but i really want to build a good knex gun. I joined this group because it seems like its members are the best knex gun builders here. If you haven't already, plz check out my topic in the forums, labeled the same as this one. I would really appreciate it, but plz don't just write crap about me or other people, k? Thank you

It's been a long while, but I have been thinking about my RBG all this time. During this hiatus I spent some time playing with knex guns that fired rods; however, they never came close to the fun I had with the RBGs.So, what resulted from those past experiments comes a slightly smaller and less bulkier RBG that is quite solid. I listened to the many suggestions and comments, and managed to solve a few quirks from the original design. What will be posted here on Instructables is not just the mechanism itself, but barrels, and other optional offerings to customize your RBG.In the mean time I'd like to add an honorable mention to Revtiedye for his take on the RBG.I hope your summer is going great(State-side) and stay tuned.

Alright so I'm having a "civilized discussion" with Mykhailo/whoever you call him now and he's arguing, just like plenty of others, that RBGs are not true semi auto because of the reasons soon to be listed. Comparing RBGs to real firearms (which I understand are not exactly alike in plenty of ways) I find that they're more like a true semi automatic than what you guys would call true semi autos. Just listen to my argument and see if you can at least understand what I'm saying. The majority of your arguments for why an RBG is not a true semi auto is that you have to prepare a band for every shot. Some of you compare this to cocking a weapon more than once for every shot. I find this a bad comparison. In real fire arms, the firing mechanism isn't what launches the bullet. It triggers the powder which then in turn shoots the bullet. An RBG is similar to this. Each rubber band acts as the "powder" for the bullets. The RBG firing mechanism simply sets them off. You also have to prepare real cartridges too. Does it matter if it's you or not who makes them? You still have to mix up and add the powder all the same as you must add RBs to your weapon. This brought up the argument that it's still not a true semi auto because the bullet isn't self-contained in an RBG. OK I have two things to say to this. First, now bullets decide the firing mode of a weapon? Secondly, what about ooda's RBG ammo. That's self contained, isn't it? The bullet is attached directly to the RBG. What do you guys think?

This is my new semi-automatic, true trigger RBG. Normally nothing new. But this one can take twice the amount of rubberbands. Thanks to some creative use of a red gear ( I'm aware I didn't use an actual red gear, that's because I didn't have any. So I sliced the pegs of a yellow gear ) This actually started as a mod for Dsman1's RBG, but it turned out to be something different. It still uses the system that is somewhat his, of a red gear turning a blue gear. It can take 15+ rubberbands without tearing itself apart ( Nearly does though ;). My record is about 18 or 19 rubberbands on it. The reliability isn't 100%, because there is an uneven amount of pits in a red gear (33), which are divided by 4 stages. So it's hard to get a good pattern for the rubber bands to shoot of. This basicly means that sometimes it either won't shoot, or it will shoot 2 rubberbands at once. I don't know if this is a problem with an actual red gear though, since my altered yellow is far from perfect. Do you want me to post it, or is there no demand for a new RBG?

So in thisvideo Adam Mclaughlin built a shotgun. I wanted to make it but the butt and pump are hard to make because of the lack of angles. So if anyone can help me by telling me how to attach the pump or make the butt thanks.1. Side view of barrel2. Pistols attached3. Pistols detached4. Front of pump5. Side of pump

Yes, it is the only shotgun rubber band gun that I know of. It is based off of the Remington M870 and can be easily modified to be both be in an entry shotgun configuration, with tactical buttstock, or in a "Breeching weapon" configuration, with no buttstock. In the first picture, it is in the entry configuration. In the second picture, it is in the breeching configuration, but with the buttstock shown to show how it could be carried in a briefcase or something similar. There is no difference whatsoever between the two, other than the obvious difference in the buttstock, but less obvious, the breeching configuration has more mobility in the cocking hammer, so it works better. I am sorry for the lack of pictures of the internals, I will hopefully be posting them in the future.

This is obviously a foldable gun. I was just tinkering around to see what would happen, and i made this foldable rbg. Yes, r. b. g. Rubber band gun. I didn't fell like making it a rod shooter. I'm so lazy... Lol. Anyway, I'm not gonna post this, just thought I'd put the idea out there.

This is the latest design of my new rifle. it is a pump-action RBG rifle, that has semi or full auto capability. it uses a fairly small amount of pieces and has a detachable stock and extendable barrel. it is true trigger, and uses a new design for the fireing mechanism. i need atleast five people to ask me to post it, or i won't bother. comments welcome, and if anyone wants more pics, just ask.

Ok well i wanna know if i should post this true trigger pistol i made. its a semi automatic rubberband gun. its pretty decent, and can hold as many small rbs as u want, but after about 12 rbs, it gets hard to load. so should i post? and please rate EDIT: i took most of the pics, and will get the instructions up ASAP, but that might be a while cuz im getting left 4 dead today... ANOTHER EDIT: i AM going 2 post wen i finish with the detachable mag idea that me and dunkis were talking about. it might be a while, but ill get it up AGAIN, ANOTHER EDIT: i made the gun, i have all the pics except for the front of the barrel. i made it so it shoots pieces, but reloading takes a long time, so im just gonna post the rbg version, it is SLIGHTLY modified to have a longer barrel, and a slanted handle PLEASE RATE

This is something I came across whilst working on my RBG just now. A blockade that stops a firing pin from leaving a potential gun which is nearly frictionless. The grey rod would be the firing pin. The gear placed close to the barrel ( grey connectors ) stops the pin from leaving the barrel, but it can still move freely very smoothly. Just thought I would share it with you guys. To think this came up by accident ;)

Its going to be a bottom loading pump action gun but it wont shoot rods or be a RBG its going to shoot the inside of the knex tires. I have a vague idea of how i want to go about building it but i wanted to finshing building something else be4 i start it. Just want some input to see what people think

Hello. Not alot of people viewing your knex guns? Well, Advertise or Promote them HERE! Just make a comment showing a picture of your gun, and a small description of, how far it shoots, does it have a mag, is it a RBG, and so on. So, if you have a KG, (knex gun) want to promote it, then put it here. Have fun, no foul language or harrassing other people, and make your knex guns POPULAR. Have fun, Techdeck30

I have a few questions 1. What is true trigger? what does it do? 2. Is a gun that fires bullets through a ram a RBG? 3. Would a gun powered by a ram get the bullets out of a extra long barrel? 4. what's the difference between slide action and bolt action? 5. How would you make a cock? 6. What's a bipod? 7. How would you build a fixed mag? If I have any more questions, I'll edit the topic and bump the topic

Well since everyone has been building m4's, I thought I'd give it a try. Originally, it started as just a model. After that, it became a RBG. Finally, it became a gun that actually shot pieces. It has a rather big magazine, it holds around 20 grey connectors. I'll only post this gun if it gets MANY requests. Credit goes to the TheDunkis for the foregrip. The gun is being posted on KI this weekend.POSTEDhttp://www.knexinnovation.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=53&t;=351

I have to say I am getting addicted to using Google's SketchUp for rendering models. I decided to give it a shot for my new RBG instructions, and I think I have it under control. While it has some quirks and not as fast as your own hands, it certainly has that cool factor. Of course, we all have to give props to Imperar for the original Knex models. Do those of you who use SketchUp find that it was easy to get the pieces to fit right? Know of any little tricks to make it easier?

Alright I have a pretty cool new idea for a weapon but I lack something important. I've been looking through semi automatic RBG triggers but most of them are poorly designed. I want one that takes as little effort as possible to pull. Perhaps a sliding trigger of some sort? I've tried several times but could never make one that even works let alone satisfies my needs. I'd also like the mechanism to stand at least 8 #64s. Anyone up to it? Whoever figures something out can get an early preview of what I have in store.

Alright, I'm sure you guys get the message, I don't build much lately. I think I might stash away the K'nex soon (I'll still stick around) but I feel bleh that I haven't actually posted anything in forever. I was going to get more images of the UMP-45 but I ended up mutating it into a non functioning modelish gun while I was bored and it'd take work to regut it so hopefully someone figures it out from the two pictures I posted. It's really not that hard. Anyways, to the point. I still have that idea floating in my head from over a year ago that no one has been able to help me with yet. Basically, it's a fully automatic gun that doesn't require a motor, and it'd get decent range. The concept is pretty much to modify an RBG type gun to work with a piston system like the ones in modern firearms. It should have a controllable RoF then. The problem is that I still need a good RBG mech! It's funny how tricky it turned out to be. I need a cog/gear and trigger system that takes little effort to operate. This means that you'll need to somehow minimize the friction between the trigger and whatever is holding the rubber bands. If it's sensitive enough, the rest should be simple. But grr people keep leaving and I need someone who can make such a mech to MAKE IT ALREADY! I've tried so many times myself and failed but I'll give it another shot. It's essential before I can move on to the rest of the design.

Hi. I am in process of making a Knex P90. The body is done, but the inner parts like the barrel and other stuff like the magazine and the trigger I can't make because I am not that skilled with knex guns. So if anybody would like to make the body from the pictures I added and make the inner parts by themself and post it as an Instructable, That would be so awesome. So, if you would like to make it, please tell me. And for those of you who do, there are a couple things I could ask. No string, just rubberbands, not an RBG, no gears, no motors, and semi-auto please. But if you could make it full AUTO that would be great! Thanks for reading, please tell me if you can. Fellow Instructaneer, Techdeck30P.S. Sorry, my camera quality = :(

This is an M4 that I am working on. Sorry guys, I scrapped my old M870 RBG Shotgun for parts, but If I can, I will try to make this one shoot rubberbands, however, the main feature will be the realism (if pieces of plastic connected together in the shape of an M4 can be considered realistic). Some of the features will include an adjustable stock (the first of its kind), a removable magazine (shown in the first video, along with the stock), Adjustable sights* (maybe), open ejection port (where the shells come out on a real gun), a charging handle, that when pulled, will pull the bolt back, opening up the ejection port*, and if possible, I will make it so that a 30-06 shell will pop out of the open ejection port. I will hopefully be posting more movies showing the other features as I add them to the gun. Hope you enjoy! *Not made yet. Unterzeichnet,Mykhailo

How did you find Instructables? From a friend? Random internet surfing? I was in a store one day and I saw a rubberband gun and thought that it was cool. so when I got home i looked it up on the internet and eventually irwinner's knex RBG came up. I built it and was hooked on Instructables. I had finally found a group of people who arent afraid to show the world their ideas be they world changing ones like j_l_larson's butter pen( you should really patent it) or just fun ones such as the altoids cotten candy machine made by gimmelotsarobots. I joined the day I turned 13 and have been a proud member since. Please tell how you discovered Instructables and how (and if) it changed your life. Thank you so much irwinner!

Ok here goes I will try to simplify my theory down a bit so everyone can understand: basicly energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be converted, eg kinetic into heat, chemical into kinetic ect. Knex guns are no exception, the enery has to come from somewhere, in most guns this takes the form of pulling back a pin or rubberbands to create potential energy, this is released when the trigger is pulled, this potential energy is converted into kinetc energy and this is how the bullet is fired. A semi automatic gun is required to fire every time the trigger is pulled, but the energy still has to come from somewhere. RBG's take this into account as each band is pulled back and has potential energy stored, however many knexer's opinions differ on whether this is truly semi automatic, many calling this type of gun a psuedo semi auto. Other guns use the energy imparted on pulling the trigger to create the potential energy to power the bullet, this is considered to be a true semi auto, however the main drawback of this system is that the amount of energy that can be transfered from the trigger to the bullet is very limited, therefore this type of mechinism has limited power. So if the problem is energy how do we solve this? one possible answer is to have an extra source of energy, such as a motor or a winding system that puts extra energy back into the system, however this approach will not give you a "true" semi auto as you will have to have an external source of energy, that and the fact that knex motors do not have the power and torque needed for this system. So what's your opinion, do you have anything to add?

Edit: It's here! Here's the link to the instructable. Sorry that it's not as clear as it could be but I made it quickly. Also some of the pictures are a little blury but otherwise very clear in close up areas even. https://www.instructables.com/id/Knex-MP44-Stg44-German-WWII-Assault-rifle-fully/My next WWII gun will be an M1 Garand with real clips that when all shots are fired off the empty shell is launched out.Ok well I was wondering if anyone wanted me to post this. It's a close replica to an MP44 German assault rifle from WWII. I modded the front just a little so it looks a little more realistic than from the picture and movie. I had to take off the sights though because they got in the way of the bullets even though i tried stopping this it didnt work right. Most the details are in the video but if you don't want to watch then let me just list some features-real, good working curved magezine-will extend it a little to make it look better and load more when i make instructions. the last round will pretty much always jam though. not a big deal just always load an extra round-uses rbg mechanism by bedbugg2 to fire either rubberbands or darkgrey connectors-modded the mechanism so you can shoot it full auto without losing the single shot option. It still unleashes all of the rubberbands at once and will jam some of the in the wheel sometimes. If anyone could help me find a way to have it shoot at the real pace of an MP44 or at least slower that would be great!OK I used a modded stock design that i got from ShotPain (although I'm not sure if it is his seeing that i saw it in a couple instructables) and i cant post the stock unless i can convince him but it shouldn't be that hard to come up with.I'm also working on for the future a gun that will be full auto only using a rubberband per ammo and no other technical stuff. No really all it will require is a rubber band for the ammo piece your launching and the rest will take care of its selfI'm also coming up with a pump action shotgun and maybe a break action with shells. NO! not shifles they will be shotguns with an actual spread shot not grenade style but loaded.

Well I need some ideas. I'm getting rather bored of the "must have" weapons for war. This isn't always the case for some people but yeah I still don't know if you would like certain types of weapons or not. For example, the old generation of handle fed side arms are rather obsolete compared to the new oodammo assault pistols. I wanted to try something different with the BAW by sacrificing the range of a turret, BA, or shelled ammo for simplicity, reliability, and fast reloading. It's one of those weapons that can be mass produced somewhat easily. I still understand the TR pretty much outclasses it though so I'm going to ask you guys first. What kind of weapons are you still interested in seeing and using in war? I'm thinking mostly for indoor or small, casual outdoor wars, nothing super competitive that you plan on taking to some large event though I may be able to make something like that. For example: Would you still like a basic assault pistol like weapon? Like a spiff-like weapon with removable magazines and maximized for range. Basically something that could be mass produced for small indoor wars? Could also use my magazine idea further down. Would you still like a handle fed side arm that had a trigger behind to get more power out of a compact weapon? Maybe a repeating crossbow pistol? That could probably get decent range but still be a compact weapon. Shelled ammo? I could probably make something like the BAW but with shelled ammo and possibly get more range with the ammo. You could easily make a shell catch. Would that be too much of a hassle compared to just using a bolt or turret? Side loading magazines? Does that sound good for anything? It kind of follows along the same concept of oodammo pistols where you can quickly reload a fixed magazine with individual rounds or entire clips without needing to worry about multiple magazines. I had an idea for this but didn't know if it would be put to good use in a war weapon. K'nex flinging RBGs? What would it take for you to use them? I like the semi auto firing capabilities and decent range compared to "true" semi autos. I know you have to load a rubber band for every time you want to fire but then you also have to do that with a normal slingshot but you can only use one set of bands. What if I made one fully auto with controllable fire rate (yes, I have an idea for that though I don't know if it'll work). What if I made some sort of way to speed load rubber bands? Shotgun- useful at all? Two ideas here. One would be just a basic pistol kind of like my old shotgun pistol but with a multi-chamber shell so you'd have like 5 shots of 8 green rods. I can't build this but maybe a pump action sling that shot like 3 connectors? Any other ideas? Take into mind my amount of pieces. The UMP and BAW both used about all my yellow connectors and green rods so I'm looking at either pistols or SMG sized weapons possibly without filled stocks. I'm also expecting that you'll build and use it if you request it. I don't really care for blindly thrown suggestions.

The KWR1 (K’NEX War Ready gun #1 Version #1) V.1 came out of my idea to build an entirely “mod-able” slingshot sniper weapon that you could rely upon in any outdoor K’NEX war (hence the name). You could make this gun longer; you could make this gun shorter. You could add a nonadjustable stock; you could make the stock longer, you can do practically anything to this gun (other than change the mechanism and the handle position). Features: Good range: 60 ft. (1 band) – 100 ft. (5 bands, 45 degree angle) Can shoot: Oodammo (1 band: 60 ft.), Large K’NEX wheel (5 bands: 30 ft.), Small K’NEX wheel (5 bands: over 80 ft.), Lego bricks (5 bands: 50 ft.), NERF darts (5 bands: 50 ft.), and size #117 bands as a RBG (30 – 40 ft.) 10 point adjustable stock (see pictures 8 -11) with “Stock lock” (see pictures 13 - 15, 17) Totally customizable Safety (see pictures 15 - 16) Cheek rest (see picture 9) Not too piece consuming Now, with all of that out of the way, I want to talk about ammo sizes and the “the more bands, the better” myth. So to do that, let’s look at the stats (shooting with three size #117 bands): Red Connecter Ammunition: No rod attached: 62 ft. Green rod attached: 55 ft. 4 in. White rod attached (oodammo): 42 ft. Blue rod attached: 35 ft. 5 in. Yellow rod attached: 40 - 45 ft. Red rod attached: (got caught in the bands) Grey rod attached: (got caught in the bands) Grey Connecter Ammunition: No rod attached: 64 ft. 9 in. Green rod attached: 59ft. 4 in. White rod attached: 50 ft. Blue rod attached: (got caught in bands) Yellow rod attached: 40 ft. Red rod attached: (got caught in bands) Grey rod attached: (got caught in bands) As you can see, the larger the round got, the lower the range you would receive. I think that this is a direct proof that bigger bullets are not necessarily good ammunition. For example, the ZKAR uses yellow rods? Might it get better range if it shot blue rods? Now, admittedly, the instances may be different with different guns, but I highly doubt it. Conclusion: Stick with ammo sizes between blue rods and white rods (including both the blue rod and the white rod). Now I want to talk a little about the “the more bands, the better” myth. I took the KWR1 out to my backyard, grabbed some oodammo (growing in our garden, mind you), and commenced shooting from a prone position. Then I got this idea… what if I was to shoot with only 1 band, and not all 5? So I started to do that, leaving the bullets where the fell after having been shot. Then I decided to go back to shooting with 5 bands, to see how much better the range would be. So I fired a couple rounds… and got no better range than I did when I shot with only 1 band. I did this a couple more times, and found it to be true. There is a myth (myth = a traditional story) pervading instructables that you will always get better range with more bands. Now, it is my personal opinion that if a gun can’t get 50 ft. with two bands, it’s no good, but that is irrelevant. Conclusion: More bands does not necessarily mean better range. Now, I am not stating these subjects as fact, for that would seem arrogant and presumptuous, but I do believe they are, to some extent, true. -The Red Book of Westmarch
