I've never done much work with RC control, and i want to build a little rc car with tank steering (2 motors, one on a wheel on each side so steering can be accomplished by which motor is on). I know I need a transmitter and a reciever (I dont know specifics of each :P). All I know is that i want to PWM the motors and control with 2 home made H-bridges (motors require max current of 30 amps, so commercially made ESR's are too expensive) and control it via rc. I just really dont know what im looking for in the rc world.

Both RC helicopters and DSLRs have shown some amazing advances and when they're combined the results are amazing. Eric Austin has a company called Heli Video that specializes in this with a helicopter-mounted Canon 7D and the footage rocks. With a free-roaming helicopter he can get shots that swoop in and out and then look down from above without any need for a crane or anything else. There are also no mistakes allowed as a crash means several thousand dollars worth of gear get wrecked. Check out the first video to see what this technique can do and the second for a view of the helicopter at work. via Core77

This is what happens when I get my hands on C.A.D!!!! And this is a pic of the RC plane I am in the works of designing. I dont have the ratios to make everything the proper size so I had to estimate. I plan on having it done by the end of my school year in September.

I have these controls http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I;=LXLDP9**&P;=MLOn the receiver end each channel has 2 negatives and one positive so you can switch polarity. My transmitter is not doing anything on any channel and I get constant current flow in one direction even when the transmitters off. I don’t know much about these types of controls and I looked through the manual and can’t find anything to help. Is there something wrong with the controls or is something else going on? Can anyone help?

I'm doing a project where I am rewiring a remote control car remote to work using a computer interface. I've found a few tutorials on how to do it, but they all deal with a "button" controller, where the motion is controlled by pressing buttons rather than using a "pistol grip" controller, or one with a wheel to control turning and a trigger to control acceleration and deceleration. Has anyone tried this, or does any one know if I would be able to use the tutorial linked below with this controller. I highly doubt it would work, but I would like a better opinion.http://jbprojects.net/projects/rc/

I'm not sure if I post this in the right topic, so let me know if I didn't, thanks. My kid got two rc cars a couple of xmases ago. One of the RC controllers antenna broke off and want to know if there is a way to make a universal rc control unit so my kid can use one controller for both cars? Kinda like a similar function you have for a universal remote for a tv. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi im just wondering if it's possible to build a working rc car using parts from ps3 controler and quadcopter such as ESC ,battery , 2 motors in controller to power 2 wheels... ( This is just to see if i can find any use of those two things that i dont use , not trying to create a really good rc car , just checking if it is possible) The two motors would both have to spin at different speeds to make the rc car turn.

I have a lot of old Nitro for an RC that I did not use. I do not want to just get rid of it. I paid for it. So what it's old and can't be used in an RC car. What can I do with it. I was thinking about making some makeshift lamps using rags and wine bottles. Will that work. What are some other things I can do?

I am currently about halfway done with my guide (well it's really an instructable) to rc cars. I will be including anything and everything rc car related. I am hoping to help anyone who is interested in buying an rc car, upgrading the one they already have, orif you are just bored and wants some entertainment. I hope to finish soon and post it by the 4th of July.

Hey guys, I am not much of a knex guy, but I made a strong trailer for my RC truck to pull around at the campsite to collect firewood (just sticks haha) anyway I made a knex "adaptor" for the car, but I cant figure out a way to make a strong connection between the car and the trailer. Can someone help me out???

Hi there, I would like to know more about how LDR's work, its quite difficult to source 3 volt relays in South Africa, so I had an Epiphany, why not use 2x LDR 1x for Forward and 1x for Reverse on an RC car, I don't know much about how responsive the solution is, how many seconds or milliseconds delay there is? Does it work like a switch? would it be a viable option on an RC car? I'm sure this could apply to little 3 volt RC cars upwards, I know brushless is the way to go, however this would indeed be a great learning experience. kindest Regards, Lee Reddy.

So I have an RC car and so does my friend and whenever we race them he always wins so I was thinking of maybe tuning it a bit (you know add an extra battery or something) so how can I tell how much voltage my circuit board and motor can take. The car itself uses a 12v battery and is fully digital (you can go slowly or quickly and you can turn only a bit or all the way, you know what i mean) I can provide some photos of the circuit board if that helps, just ask.I know that RC cars are a bit childish but when Im older I want a job involving cars so thats a good place to get started =]

I got my little sister these little rc cars made by tomy. they have infrared to avoid obstacles and navigate themselves (pretty cool) but they burn through batteries very quick. it uses 2 x AA non rechargeable batteries so i want to make them rechargeable. Here is my problems with current ideas, and the pictures really help explain everything so please look there. 1 normal rechargeable batteries --- will have to remove battery door every time and it is too much hassle 2 use rechargeable battery pack for wii like below -- not as common and expensive 3 heres the one that might work incorporate a 3v rechargeable power source with a dc charger port and 2 indicator leds, all in an enclosed 2 x AA battery holder HOW??? please help --- i just want to make it work out but i really dont care if i have to change the batteries or anything like that also, i need to make 2 of these so cheap please!!! and maybe add another led for the car to have a glow like pic 4? thanks rak

I am interested in building an R/C car for the first time but i don't want just a standard bought kit i was more interested in buying all the parts individually can any one suggest where i start and what parts will be needed do i start with the motor or the chassis i really don't have any idea. So if anyone can give me some serious direction and helpful information on how to start and possible parts that would be great. Also could i just purchase an instruction manual for a kit and buy the parts individually instead of the kit and upgrade certain parts. thanks very much and no clever comments about how to use google my self i have tried but it just keeps sending me to self build kits and this forum site with other questions about self build kits thanks again

Im pretty sure that the "havoc heli" and the "picoo z" are the same. the back of the box both say "silverlit", and the helis both look exactly alike. pleez give me your feedback on what ya think. thanx. edit: i found this thing at towerhobbies.com called the venom micro recue, and it has the same exact rotors and IR controller.

So for a Electrical Engineering class I have we were given a challenge, to design a robot that can go a certain distance on carpet using only servos and 3d printing (and any sensors we would like to use). I want to know if anyone could tell me if it would be possible to drive a wheel using only a servo. Maybe the same type of drive that trains use? If someone has any ideas that could help I would appreciate it.

With all this 3d printing now days, and some of it is being used with K'nex I'm wondering if there are more things that need to be added to the range. Now i can understand that K'nex with its target at younger folks (the highest age they list is 9+) it probably isn't feasible for them to spend the time developing some things. And the things im talking about? Pneumatics More powerful motors Custom gears (sizes, rack and pinion, worm gears) Servos A more dedicated robotics system anything else i may have missed? Just peoples thoughts on whether this is worth pursuing, perhaps even make them for sale (please don't sue me K'nex)

I have a Wireless remote control twin blade helicopter for sale. This is not the cheapo mini copter you see on Ebay. This is an hirobo XRB, cost me $400 new still have the reciept. Comes with xtra rotor blades, remote, 2 Lipo batteries. I have cut some of the plastic away to make it lighter in weight. The X and Y axis are adjustable on the heli and the radio. It flew great 1 year ago, The blades are a foam composite, ( you can buy carbon fiber ones online.) The colars where the blades mount are broken, so if you want to use it as the heli you have to purchase new ones from Hirobo, couple bucks I assume. Or you can use it for whatever you want to, everyone in this community is quite creative, I however am not. I'll try to post pics. Someone can build some cool stuff with this. Make me an offer

I would like to build my own rc airplane. I already know how to build the fuselage and the wings. I also have the landing gear. I have a 27mhz rc circuit from an old rc car. The problem is the car was only a 2ch board. I need a 3ch transmitter and receiver. (Throttle, left/right, up/down). I'll be honest, I don't know much about circuit boards, but I can learn. Does anyone know how to make the circuit board for this, or where I can get a custom board made for me?

This is my almost new Mustang plane. It is really cool but I could use some advice as I have never flown a large plane or a plane with gears before. Anything would help and could you post a video of YOURS if you have a similar RC plane. Thanks.

What can you do with a RC car? With a cheap one you can take it apart and have a remote control motors -light switch -RC spud gun firer or starting something dangerous. -moving surveillance cameras -many more stuff With a good, truck version -snack fetcher -surveillance bot -attach a mop to it -many more (sorry no pictures, camera broken)

Hi my names Paul Im doing a project on building a Mind Control RC Car using the EEG Emotiv Headset. I was planning connect the headset to the laptop and use an arduino to connect up to an interface board(im not too sure) which connects to the remote joystick. I was wondering if anyone has done this project before and it would be so awesome to get any tips or instructions of any sort. Thanks please let me know

Hi, i need some help. A few weeks ago i took apart a RC (remote controlled) car circuit board but some of the cables couldn't hold and just broke off so i'd be so thankful if one of you smart people out there could tell me (or draw on the picture) where everything is supposed to go (including the antenna :-) and the forwart and backward motor. thanks Kacper

I was interested in a wireless spy car to use in my backyard (to hunt for a waskaley groundhog : elmer fudd) now i was looking in Make mag and i found this( http://makezine.com/14/bajabuggy ). it really dosent tell u how. now i already have a rc car (Traxxas vxl Bandit) and i dont wont to destroy it or buy a new car it cost $300. so i wont to know how i can still use a servo without connecting it to to bandit wiring and for cheap

Does anyone have a use for something like this? I was going to take this wee little car apart for the motor, but I'd hate to destroy it if I can still make something out of the whole body, the wheels and everything should still work. I think the little capacitor in there just went dead or something like that.
