template for building fullsize replica porsche (or other sports car)

I love this project here - http://thechive.com/2010/06/02/how-to-build-a-porche-for-a-few-hundred-bucks-40-photos/ I'm wondering where I can obtain software/plans to get cross cut templates. e.g. slices every 10 or 20 centimeters. from front to back. like how this guy in NZ built a db5 - see the templates that can then be covered- http://www.gizmag.com/3d-print-aston-martin-db4-replica/28518/ cool. you  understand what i mean?

Well, i have a new replica coming out right away, and i want to know what kind of gun is should replicate next! I need ideas, and don't ask me to make these huge guns like the M249 Saw, or an intervention, I want to make a medium (eg, AK-47) to small (eg, mini-uzi) sized guns.  IDEAS?

Giant Spring Replica (How-to?)

I'm working on a Halloween prop (though, with what little time I already have, it looks as if I will have to use it next year), a part of which is supposed to be a metal torsion spring. I am at a loss for ideas that would look real. I suppose whatever it is, I could paint it silver. Any help would be appreciated!

Halo Replica Question

Alright, I'm trying to make a replica of the Halo 3 Magnum (Yes, I know that technically it's not a Magnum but I don't feel like trying to remember the real name) and I already have the base cardboard cutout for it, but I realized that what I was going to do is a little more complicated than I thought. Originally I had seen someone who built an Assault rifle and Splazer out of just cardboard by having the basic shape in the middle and then layering it on both sides in certain areas in order to make it 3D. I was wondering though what other ways of making models are there that's fairly "easy" for a fanboy to do. "Easy" by means of accessibility; I know whatever I do is goin to take some amount of work to do, but I don't want someone telling me to use a vacuform machine. I just need to know if there's any ways of making replicas that doesn't require extravagant amounts of money or resources.

Replica guns need to stop:

Now I don't know if it's just me but im am bored of replicas or models of real life guns. Now there are some amazing replicas out there but can people please show some skill by posting some guns which are built with creativity. Thank you Bhuty

Posted by bhuty 7 years ago

What's with people saying that replicas "look like theirs"?

I've seen this happen a few times before.  Someone makes a replica of a gun, for example, an MP5K, and then a n00b comes up and says that it looks like their MP5K.  No sh*t sherlock? You two made the same freaking gun, of course it's gonna look like someone else's version.  Comments like this are pointless and should not be posted. And please Mepain, don't express your opinion on disliking replicas in general on here, we know already.  =P

knex Lever Action Winchester Replica review

This is Killer~safecracker's winchester review: looks:4,5 looks like a real one,and there is no blue rod sticking out the body. comfort:4,5 realy comfort. innovation:3,0 nothing to new. piece usage:3,5 uses quite a lot of piece, and some people dont have flexible bleu/white rod strenght:3,5 the stock is a bit weak, but the rest is strong enough. power:4,5 it has a lot of power for a replica, but its a slingshot, and slingshot have a lot of power. accuracy:4,5 it has a realy good accuracy! reliabilty:4,if you have not to strong elastic, your a good go total:4 realy good gun, build it now and give him a sub!

How to age a book

I have a replica of a book made in the early 1800's. It's really cool to have, but it would be even more fantasticle to make it look it's age. Does anyone here know how to do this? Let me know what you think if you have any ideas.

I'm back! Suggest on what I should build.

Well, after a long hiatus of doing Minecraft and other stuff, I am finally back. I've have been working on K'nex on and off; I just haven't been posting stuff. I've got a working drum magazine and gun that is almost done, and there are some other guns lying around as well (Don't worry Red, I've still got that Berreta ARX-160.) Anyway, I thought as a kind of comeback to building and posting on 'Ibles, I would let you guys decide on what I should build. I'll take requests on replicas also. Be sure to leave a suggestion!

Replicas...

Replicas... what can I say?  Some people like them, some people hate them.  I'm starting to get sick of them, after I post my F2000, I'm going to take a break and make a war kit.  It will have: Sniper Assault Rifle Shotgun Sidearm For my sniper, it will definitely be a slingshot.  The shotgun will have multiple bullets per shot, and the assault rifle will have good range and a high ROF.  I'm not really sure if I should make the sidearm oodamo or not.   Do you guys think I should follow through with this idea, or should I just make replicas?  If I do this, I will certainly go back to replicas after, but this will come first.  Tell me what you guys think I should do.

Challenge to good model makers

Hey guys, I have a challenge to the good model makers on Instructables.  I need a small replica airplane for a project I'm working on. The smaller the better, the more detailed the better. Feel free to use whatever knex parts you want: minis, bricks, ect...   I could probably build one myself, but I'll give some of you guys the chance to help me out and work with me. Plus I really don't like building models.  If yours is the best I'll private message you what I'm building, or send you a patch, or whatever you want. I really don't care.  I just want to work with some of the new people here.  Anyone is welcome. Just post a picture and I'll pick which one will work best.  Remember smaller the better. Thanks guys, I'm excited to see what we come up with. Killer~SafeCracker

Replicas?

Ok, so I decided to dabble in the art of replicating recently. However, I dont really know what gun I should replicate. What I know for sure:I dont want to replicate a gun that has been done a million times, like an AK-47 or an M4 Carbine.I dont want to do huge replicas that use too many partsThe guns I will replicate are not limited to just real life, I will also do guns from video gamesNo pistols. Most pistol replicas are just TDS copies with cosmetic mods.Post a picture of whatever gun you think fits these requirementsI was considering doing either the Halo sniper rifle, or the FAMAS. If anyone else has a suggestion, Im open.

Mauser C96

Greetings, So, ever since I saw Chuunibyou, I've wanted to try my hand on a Mauser C96. Once again, it's a model, based heavily on Aug5om3's version. I built his one, then changed the handle, trigger and shortened the barrel a bit. The handle is a bit less sturdy than I like, but it looks pretty IMO, though the front of it could use some more curving. It features: - a comfortable handle - charging handle - moving hammer - pretty good looks I'm not entirely happy with it, but as I have plans for other builds, I decided to take some photos to share, and then take it apart. Posted it as a forum topic, as it isn't original enough to warrant a full slideshow. Tell me what you think in the comments!

The Sonic Car replica was built by blind veterans from Royal British Legion Industries out of 388,000 pieces of K'Nex building blocks. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-30906767 http://www.btha.co.uk/toy-fair/

Futuristic Concept Guns that may be worth a Build with your twist!

Ahhh... I feel sometimes the k'nex gun builders community lacks a bit artistic visions, so I scraped the worldwide web for some images that would pump some artistic juices into the community. With no offence to our replica builders out there, (you guys are awesome at what you do!) but I feel that building a k'nex gun is an art. Trying to create that right balance of flow of a gun while incorporating a twist that catches the persons eye is a challenge, a skill, and I feel may be a bit more challenging than making a replica. With replicas you have the comfort of a defined shape and measurements, when guns like these (some virtual, I know one is real, the harmonica gun) are built to be within a similar scale but again with that unusual and pleasing twist of the imagination.  Again I don't mean to offend anyone with the idea that replicas are not cool, replicas are awesome and I find it really hard to stay within a replicas measurements (more power to the people who can). I would just like to see some more unique visions of the builder. Build a gun that defines you and your vision of what a great gun looks and feels like. Then make it perform how you want it too. It's a complex process capturing the beauty of a well crafted k'nex gun through not only aesthetic appearance, but physical performance. These unique guns are what defines us as a K'nex gun community, a community of artists.   At the end of the pictures, I've included a couple of my best Art. (two which didn't perform as planned but nailed appearance)

MR-B gun

Does anyone think they can make a well working replica for this gun made out of K'Nex?  I myself could probably make this, but due to a recent fire, I'm low on K'Nex, so I'd like to know if anybody is capable of doing that. This was the only picture I was able to find so sorry if it's a bit unclear.

America's Got Talent Judging Table Replica

Hi, I'm new here to Instructables. I'm wondering how you would go about creating a judging table similar to that of America's Got Talent, with X's at the front, and buttons that make a loud buzz noise (similar to the show itself), and makes the X's go red. Below is an image that may help you understand what I'm talking about. http://blog.newsok.com/gossip/files/2010/01/Americas-Got-Talent-judges.jpg Thanks!

Halo 1 knex magnum (posted)

This is my first replica of a gun. it really does look like the real thing. i choose the halo 1 magnum because its a nice clean gun to replicate. not that bad for my first replica, is it? pros... 12 round magazine like the real thing. true trigger. comfy handle. good power. looks realistic cons... it might jam. (occasionally) trigger needs broken green rod or y connector. (optional, but it makes the gun work smoother)

This AMAZING GLaDOS Robot was built by Nick Liksys (tabun.everypony.ru) is a 1:20 scale version of everyone's favorite AI sociopath from Portal 2.  Nick has worked on her for one hour ever since the game came out and built her using servos, accelerometers, controllers, and thirty yards mounting wires.  This is a truly fantastic reconstruction and her movements and voice match very accurately to the game.   You can check out his photo link here: http://fotki.yandex.ru/users/mdevaev/album/188552/

Best knex creations of 2010

So another year has rolled by.  Many new things were posted, some were pretty good!  Now I am hosting a community contest to see what people liked the most.  There are 3 categories, and you can select up to 3 creations for each category (You don't have to pick 3 if you don't want to).  So you can pick your top 9 most favorite creations of the year.  The categories are: Best overall Knex gun Best Knex replica Best non-gun. You can select a creation to go in more than 1 category.  For example, if you thought a knex replica of a real life rollercoaster was good, you could vote for it in the "Best knex replica" and "Best non-knex gun" categories. There are some restrictions of course.  The creations you vote for HAVE to have a post date of 2010.  Preview pictures can be posted earlier than that, but they have to be posted this year.  Also, you cannot pick a gun that you made.  For example, I cannot vote for my Halo Battle rifle to go in "Best knex replica".  If the creation you vote for came from a site outside of Instructables or KI (like Youtube), you will need to provide a link for it. What are you waiting for?  Get voiting!  I'm giving away patches to the top 3 winners in each category, plus a patch for my personal favorite, which makes 10.  Voting ends Monday, January 24, which gives you 3 weeks to vote.

Long Time No See.

Okay to start this off I'll begin on telling you how close i was to quitting "k'nex", so anyways when I almost quit "k'nex" i got into war games, like Call Of Duty and Battlefield Bad Company, mostly B.B.C though, so as i collected more guns thought B.B.C I thought to myself, I should keep my k'nex and build some replicas, but then again i thought psssht I'm not any good at building guns, so what I want you people of Instructables to do is to find me the best of the best replicas for me to build, and thank you in advance.

Tongue and mouth model.

I work at a speech training center, and I need to illustrate how to make certain sounds. I thought the best way was to use an adjustable tongue and cheek model. Doesn't have to be a real replica of a tongue, just something to illustrate the tongue and cheek positions for different sounds. Needs to be adjustable. Any ideas? Thanks.

K'nex replica gun building compation

Ok this is a compatition to get some new guns out there that look like the real thing not just a made up gun the gun may not already have an instuctable posted. if it is a slideshow or anything else it is fine. guns are permitted to use any fire machanism the builder wishes as long as it consists of either knex peices, rubber bands or springs there will be three main catagories 1. side arm (anything under 30cm) 2. secondary weapon (anyting between 30cm-60cm) 3. primary weapon (anything over 60cm) there will be three winners in each catagory! the one gun could win all three or they could be all diiferent guns the tree catagories are 1. how much like the real gun it looks 2. how far it shoots 3. how accurate it is at 15.ft 20.ft and 25.ft

DIY Iron Man Costume Replica

Advanced Iron forum member TMP just completed his custom Iron Man costume just in time for the film's theatrical premiere. Incredible work! Just look at all those details!!!TMP says he spent $1500-2000 on the material compound alone, never-mind months of trial and error. Via Cool Stuff in SlashfilmIt looks a bit bulky, but it makes sense, a real metal costume would look much rougher than it does in the film (The movie's costume was made of rubber, so it could be more dynamic)It doesn't look as extreme as the film, but it certainly looks more real. Now, if only it could fly......Maybe we can expect more next year? There's quite a buzz for DIY Iron-Man costumes this year.
