This is Kalimov. I am now working in an education company called Shanghai Genius Education Technology Co. Ltd. that mainly deals with schools in China. I am also a maker, too. For several years, I've read about instructables on instructables.com and many of them were quite amazing, both in techniques or ideas. I think why not introduce them to kids in schools of China? I've asked the staff commitee about my idea and now I'm sharing this idea to you. Below is my thinking. My company wants to introduce some overseas instructables to schools in Shanghai or other cities in China. We also want to publish books of tutorial compilation. We are willing to translate English to Chinese. We like to share the backstories of a making and autobiography of you. What we need is your permission that you like to share or write out how much benefit you want (PM). Summary: In the book and the app we are going to publish, there are introduction of instructables.com, your profile and tutorials, your backstories. We share the benefit from education market. All sales reports are going to be visible to everyone. Besides, I also collect some of my crafting these years and I have made a post here. https://www.instructables.com/id/Some-Pictures-of-Crafting-I-Made-These-Years/. Thanks to Mike Asarus, Liquid Wash Hand and many members in instructables.com that they keep inspiring DIYers all the time!

I have taken some pretty darn good pictures over the years, and I would like to share them with the Instructables community. I was thinking about posting a slide-show instructable, but since it isn't technically a project, i thought it would be the wrong way. Should I just post a forum topic?

The four men behind the (in)famous file-sharing website Pirate Bay have been jailed for a year, and ordered to pay $4,500,000 damages to a selection of big media publishing companies. One of the four, Peter Sunde, refused to pay what he called a "bizarre" fine; ""We can't pay and we wouldn't pay. Even if I had the money I would rather burn everything I owned, and I wouldn't even give them the ashes."Despite the ruling, The Pirate Bay website is still up and running - it seems that, whilst the activities of the website have been declared illegal, the website itself is not, presumably because none of the shared files are hosted by TPB themselves.Speaking to the BBC, the chairman of industry body the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) John Kennedy said the verdict sent out a clear message."These guys weren't making a principled stand, they were out to line their own pockets. There was nothing meritorious about their behaviour, it was reprehensible."The Pirate Bay did immense harm and the damages awarded doesn't even get close to compensation, but we never claimed it did."There has been a perception that piracy is OK and that the music industry should just have to accept it. This verdict will change that," he said.BBC StoryBBC Business analysis of TPB's operationsIFPI press releasePirate Bay's press conference

Instructables is happy to announce the winners of the Share the Love Speed Contest. We asked you to show us some romantic Instructables and you certainly did with over 100 Instructables entered into the contest. Lots of creativity and emotion went into these and we can't thank you enough for all of them.Since this was a speed contest the voting was done by the the audience for six of the winners and one was chosen in a random draw. These are all great entries, but we urge you to check out the contest group to see many more great Instructables. So if you get stuck on what to do for Valentine's Day next year, be sure to come back here and look for some ideas. For now, on with the winners!Pageviews and Ratings Prizes - For receiving the most pageviews and the highest ratings, the authors of these Instructables will each receive an Instructables Robot t-shirt, a chocolate robot heart, and the acrylic positive of the heart. Ratings A Dozen Red Origami Roses by thydzik Page Views LED Burlesque Pasties! by jessyratfink Notes about the winners: Duplicate votes were thrown out. While it is a great Instructable, LED Mood Jar was disqualified from winning a prize in this contest since we couldn't find much that was inherently romantic about it unless you're talking about getting your mood on and that's a bit of a stretch.Ratings Prize Runners-up - For receiving the next highest ratings, the authors of these four Instructables will each receive an Instructables Robot t-shirt and a chocolate robot heart. Entwined Hearts Chocolate Covered Strawberries Bloody Valentine's Heart LED Stained GlassFirefly Pendant Random Prize - For being lucky enough to have its name pulled out of a plastic net, the author of this Instructable will receive an Instructables Robot t-shirt, a chocolate robot heart, and the acrylic positive of the heart.and the random winner is...Hearts from ring pulls

Hi, We were working on some nice Arduino projects and were struck by the fact that we couldn't find a nice possibility to let our projects send short messages to our Macs or iPhones. Since we had an iSticky Server for these kind of messages, we built an extension for notes up to 150 characters. Because we are very happy with this possibility, we thought the world might be as well... So today we are going beta with this service. Please try it out, give us comments or tips for improvement and let those messages be pushed to your devices! To signup as a developer and get a free developer token, visit https://account.isticky.net/token/request.html To download the library, visit http://www.isticky.net/arduino/isticky.zip Kind regards, The iSticky team

I am a huge fan of Instructables and am curious why other people enjoy it so much. I believe it is important to tell others, how their hard work has been appreciated. Most of the time we tell people what we don't like about something. I have been a member of other sites like utube and blogs but I have stuck with Instructables because it has offered me an outlet to share what I make and connect with others. I like the fact that if we publish a good Instructable we get featured and that is a great way to get exposure. Their contest can be challenging as well as fun. I believe they try very hard to listen to their readers and authors. It is not just the Instructables team that make this such a great place but our readers are important as well. I have found most of the people here are kind and respectful. Please share your positive comments with me about why you love Instructables. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Sunshiine

For anyone interested, I'm trying to start up a homebrew science site. It could use some more members :Phttp://homebrewscience.comEventually, you'll be able to participate in member projects, write articles (and have them peer-reviewed), and share photos and video.

I saw, (And hope you have to), the new format for the contest pages. When I say contest pages I mean the Tooltips contest, Share the Love Contest, Anti-yo contest, and any other to come. I dislike the new format for the pages because I feel it gives a few of the instructables members an unfair advantage over everyone else. On the old pages, everyones instructables were listed on one page, but on the new ones, the most popular are the only ones shown on the front page of the contest. And it's so hard to find the "View All" button, that not many people will likely search through the rest of the insturctables. I just think that having a couple of the lead I'bles on the front page will keep them on top and not give everyone a fair advantage by having them on the same page regardless of popularity. I hope someone else feels this way. Thanks Gunk On Floor

To: Ginny Mies, PC World Staff Editor, and Nick Mediati, PC World Assistant EditorCC: Kimberly Brinson, PC World Managing Editor, Ed Albro, PC World Editor, and Eric Wilhelm, Instructables CEOWho is this guy?I can't find his name on your staff list, so I hope you are the right people to talk to about this.I was reading the article in the above link and realized that I had just read most of that stuff (almost in that order) already on a web site called Instructables. While I don't care so much about the actual copyrights (Instructables is largely based on "Attribution non-commercial share-alike" legality), I do believe that at least a formal nod is in order. It might look (to those unfamiliar with Instructables) like he did some fancy research to gather those neat tips together, but to me it is practically undeniable that he was surfing Instructables. (I am not exaggerating, I read at least half of those tips on Instructables within the same hour!)Perhaps the best tip Zack Stern could have given was the only obvious one he left out: Visit Instructables for more of these user-enabling tips!Sincerely,Ricky RatzlaffAvid Instructables readerP.S. If you need links to the relevant projects on Instructables, feel free to ask. They're just a search engine away!

I was wondering if it was illegal to share broadband internet with your neighbors? This could be wired or wireless. With neighbors you know or dont know. Please, if you can, site some legal documents.Thank you, danfolkes

Hi, I am building a documentation system specially for fab labs. I have noticed that some fab lab users do not wish to make documentation of their projects because they think "there is no reader". Guys, Can you share your thoughts on why you post instructables here? For personal interest? For wider project viewers? Best, Zhao

I was approached this week by a member of staff at Obrary, asking me if I would let them share one of my projects. So far, so good; I gave permission, as long as they agreed to abide by the license I use to publish my projects; BY-NC-SA. This is the default licence for Instructables, and allows others to share your work as long as they quote the source, share their work under the same licence, and do not profit commercially from the project. Be aware that, if Obrary share your projects, they will share them under the licence of BY-CC-SA, allowing other people to profit from your work. When I discovered this, I agreed, as long as I got to share in the income being generated by my work. Obrary went quiet. If you want to share your projects through Obrary, that's up to you (a quick search shows that at least one Instrucabler has allowed their work to be shared), but you need to remember that their business model involves monetising your work, without any of the income coming to you. They profit, you lose out. You have been warned.

Would it be possible to add a Pinterest share button? I'm creating a board that aggregates a lot of the costume walkthroughs that I've favorite here in Instructables, and it would be great to easily get it to Pinterest. Right now I'm having to copy and paste the link and do everything manually. It would increase traffic to the Instructables site and really help Instructables users. Thanks!

I would love a button that would enable you to easily share a contest win on social media. Yes, I can type one up and post it, but share buttons are so nice in the way that they compose a simple message for you and provide an image. It would be another opportunity for Instructables to use social media to advertise contests and sponsors. The message could be something like "I just won some great prizes from ____ in the ____ contest on Instructables." It would also be an opportunity for us to thank and share some victory with our friends that support us.

There are few instructables about residential space dividers. These might permit folks to live more comfortably and economically. They could be temporary as well as permanent . Could they rolll up to the ceiling ? Could they be flat against a permanent wall until needed ? How important is acustic l privacy ? Beauty ? Fire resistance and safety ? If there are people who have thought about these issues or who have solved a space sharing problem, with some device or other, please post them. They are of no immediate concern to me or mine, but who knows in the future ?

Well, this forum is to "share your blog post with the community." I don't see that happening here tons, so here is my blog, and it's three posts so far. I haven't worked on it in a while, but I plan to. Topics blagged about are science, the world, philosophy, music, and interesting things. There is some strong language. http://ruralnerdofthought.blogspot.com/2012/01/greetings-to-readers-and-friends.html
