Knex Sharp Shooter

Here is my Blue Mullet Sharp Shooter! Its my favorite sniper rifle I've ever built, which is why it is posted in the forums. Its generic design makes for a strong body, barrel, and handle. It features in having a magazine release, a safety mechanism, and a true bolt action internal mechanism. It also has two bolt layout designs suitable for this rifle. More specs: Shoots 35FT using three long rubberbands. Removable 8 round yellow rod magazine. Working safely, magazine release mechanism's. True trigger design. Removable scope, revealing bed sights. Two different bolt layouts. No wobble or flimsy parts. Front grip accepts accessories.

Screw ends sticking out the opposite side of a door panel

The previous owner of my house drilled screws through a door to hold one of the door panels in place. The screws are sticking out the other side leaving the  sharp ends exposed.  What would be the best way to fix these sharp ends? Could I just use a bolt cutter and cut them off?

Convert Sharp vision projector to LED? Answered

I have a Sharp Vision projector that my parents had laying around. It's pretty old and worked for a few days, but now im getting a blinking green light, and a quick google search said that meant the ballast needs to be replaced. I was wondering since there is already an existing lcd and lens in the projector if I could gut the ballast and bulb out and replace it with a set of high powered LEDs. I saw a hackaday article not to long ago of a  high powered flashlight.....maybe the same tech inside of a projector. Ideally id like to be able to produce enough light to start Projection bombing on the side of my garage.  Thanks for any feedback

My knife won't sharpen Answered

Back when my dad was in the Navy, he got an Edgco Buttlerfly knife in Afganistan. He gave it to me a while back. I decided to sharpen it so I could actually use it. It's not getting sharp no matter how long I scrape it on the whetstone. I can't take it to someone to get it sharpened because they're illegal in my state.

My surround sound system wont stay on. What's wrong with it? Answered

I have a Sharp sd-at1000 surround sound reciever, and while trying to hook up a speaker(front left if that matters) it sparked and turned off. Now when I turn it on it says "Hello" on the lcd and stays on for about 1 second before turning back off. From what I've found through research it seems to be a output transistor. Does this sound right? Looking at the circuit board I couldnt find anything that looked bad. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

iPad Smart case edges too sharp - solution needed

Hi guys I just got a smart case (not Smart Cover) for my iPad. It's awesome and it's pretty convenient. But the problem is, the edges of the case are too sharp and this makes it VERY difficult and painful to hold for long durations.  I was kinda hoping you guys could come up with some interesting and easy DIY solution for this. Other people  just tell me to get a new case. I simply can't afford one. I'm willing to try anything. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. :) Thanks in advance guys. :D

Sharp Tactical Folding Pocket Knife from Budgetgadgets

Sharp Tactical Folding Pocket Knife Everybody needs knifes, wether it is for a project here, cutting your apple, or just for fun. Budgetgadgets is a fairly new company that takes operates in the free delivery market. The item that I will be reviewing today is a knife, folding release, of reasonable size. When closed it measures approx. 5 inches, when opened it is about 8. The knife is completely made out of stainless metal, and the actual blade is coated in a black substance, for a sleek look. There is a very narrow slice of uncoated metal, which is the actual edge of the blade. The coating has the same colour as the handle. The blade has a proper thickness, and is rigid. Now for the actual review. I will judge the blade on several fronts: Construction quality, appearance, ease of handling and cutting abilities. Construction quality As soon as you get a hold of this knife it feels very sturdy, and has a nice complete finished look. The coating on the blade is nice and even without imperfections. Opening the knife is very smooth, and the locking system works very well. All is operated by one hand easily. Only downside is that is isnt locked when closed. This doesnt bother me though; as I keep it in the pouch that it came with when not in use. There is no wiggle room between the blade and the handle. Appearance Its a matter of taste, but as far as Im concerned it looks great. The knife is entirely made out of good materials, which make it look valuable. The unpainted metal parts are partially brushed, and the black handle had a nice textured surface which looks sturdy. Ease of use As I said before, the knife is easily operated with one hand. Considering the handle of the blade is slightly larger than usual, this knife is operated by larger hands than average ones easily. Its also able to transfer more force to the blade by having a larger handle. Cutting abilities This is what its al about in the end, how well does it cut. A test with a piece of paper works flawless, the knife just glides right through without ripping the paper, and leaves a very clean cut. Plastic is cut with ease to, all on factory sharpness. Cutting fruits is somewhat harder, considering the increasing thickness of the blade, meat on the other hand is very easy to cut. Overall score A knife that offers outstanding value for a small price. For only 7,64$ including shipping this knife comes to your home. Grade: 9,5/10

How Sharp are Carbide Insert SHIMS? Machinists, never used these so I need help! Answered

I have a few secret upcoming projects in which I plan on using carbide turning inserts. Both for woodworking and metalworking projects, but not machining - their intended use.I was wondering if anyone has any experience using these. I was looking at buying square inserts, but I can find only shims like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/292307002360 . Do you know if these are even slightly sharp? I mean, can I scrape wood with them with my hand, not in a milling cutter? Will they cut wood?If not, I was thinking about getting something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/173054401114 or https://www.ebay.com/itm/391346000853How sharp actually are these actual carbide inserts? Will these be able to scrape hardwood if I for example, hold them with pliers and scrap them across wood? Thanks!

How do I join 2 neoprene sheets in a sharp 90 degree angle?

I'm creating a neoprene casing to a small product and I'd like it to have a rather straight and stiff appearance, almost like a molded detail. For that reason I don't want to use normal seams (flatlock, overlock) to join the sides of the casing as it would cause bulgy surfaces or a too wide radius. How is this done in the industry? Could it be done either like alternative 1 or 2 in the picture? Which one is to prefer and which joining method is preferable (sewing, glueing, tapeing)? All ideas are welcome!

I want a balloon to "pop" at the touch of a sharp knife. Storing a ballon to optimum stretch inside a cake?

I made 1 excellent exploding cake with a balloon. I haven't been able to replicate the event as successfully. I need the balloon to be maximally inflated, to the point it will go "pop"! when the merest touch of a sharp blade touches it. Also if the balloon is concealed inside a whip cream, cake combo, does hot or cold temperature affect the expansion of the balloon? Is there anyone out there who has experience, or can solve this dilemma for me?

Macro lens attachments

I recently got a set of marco lenses for my DSLR, an old E300. They are the simple kind, basically a magnifying lens that screws onto the the existing lens system like a filter. My first impressions of this simple and relatively cheap alternative to a dedicated macro lens in the 400$ range were quite good. But I also found some downsides and would like to know if they are a general thing to accept or a result of poor quality standards. 1. Although about 20% of the lens are unused (nothing at all visible when covering the outsides of the lens) there is some nocticable distortion happening. Especially the corner areas of the image when the object fills the entire picture appear to be slightly bend. Is that due to the marcro lens being a single and cheap system or a general thing with these marcro filter lenses? 2. It is quite hard to to get a clear focus even with F22 settings and good light. With the X4 lens it is not too bad and leaves about 8mm of totally sharp image before it gets blurry. But when using the X10 lens I often have troubles getting a sharp image of an object that goes less than 5mm into the background. Using a smaller setting, like f11 and only 1-2mm of the image is clear and sharp while everything in front or in the back of this area gets more and more blurry. Is this due to the marco lens affecting the focus? For example taking a full size shot of a rose flower is next to impossible if the entire flower should be be sharp - I would like to be able to get at least 10mm of totally sharp image when using f22 settings :( If this is a downside of cheap filter lenses then I already learned my lesson, but would like to know a bit more before saving money on a dedicated macro lens that I will rarly use...
