finding a best way of design solution

Hi. am finding a best solution for my design. look at drawing. there is 4 bars. about 2~3cm long each. their tip is holden on something in middle. when you pull up right black bar, right gold one will pulled down. "in same degree." when you pull down left gold bar, left black one will pulled up. "in same degree." likewise when you pull up two black bar, two gold bars will pulled down. "in same degree." its not just a normal hinge cause their move will interactive.15 degree up - 15 degree down. what can be a best (simple, durable, hard) solution?

Image note bug solution

As far as I have noticed, the bug is activated when a colon is in the text. I had errors many times when making image notes - and I tested in three different browsers (where the error just looked different). But only in texts that included a colon. Each time I removed colon from text: no error. It might be the same for other special characters. Hope it helps :)

Fixperts - Designers doing something useful!

I was recently alerted to It's a fascinating concept - "real" designers get paired with folk with actual, unsolved problems (typically related to a mobility issue), and produce bespoke solutions, making a nice little video in the process. Introduction to Fixperts from Billo on Vimeo. It's mainly a UK thing at the moment (some of the folk from Sugru are involved, although it's not a Sugru scheme), but there's nothing stopping you, dear reader, starting up something similar through your own school, college or Hackspace. There are even guidelines on the site on how to join in. I've been told of companies that make bespoke prosthetics, or connect problems to solutions, but this is the first voluntary group I've encountered that drags Design out of the showroom or gallery, directly to those who actually need these skills now. I'm going to keep an eye on Fixperts, and I think you ought to as well... @Fixperts

If you have an overactive bladder, here's some advice.

First of all, I would just want to say that I have procured this advice from my own personal experience.  This is what I do. Tip 1- STOP DRINKING COFFEE!  It's amazing how the people who buy bladder control medicine are the same people who drink coffee, which contains a substance known as caffeine.  Caffeine does give you that 5 second energy perk, but then this is followed by you taking a piss in the toilet ever 20 minutes because it's a diuretic substance.  And at this point I am not just talking about coffee either.  Most sodas contain quite a bit of caffeine as well. Tip 2- Drink less water.  I know how people need water to survive, but I am not saying to stop drinking water, I am just saying to reduce your watery intake.  I was sick with Swine flu a few weeks back, so my mom forced me to drink gallons of water each day.  I ended up having to get out of bed every 30 minutes to use the bathroom, and this ruined the whole resting pattern. I'm just sick of seeing so many advertisements about bladder control medicine.  I don't care, just get back to that awesome show I was watching!   Help boycott bladder control medicine and get those advertisers to shut the heck up. (Unless of course you have a real medical condition and for some reason more bathroom use is a side effect, then none of this applies to you)

Another Fire Fox just will not stay UP

Ok, I am having difficulties recently with FireFox (I am using FLOCK because of this). I click on the ShortCut and the home page loads (here of course), but as soon as most of the page loads, it shuts down, and then prompts me to send FF an error report. Yesterday was the first I noticed this. This morning, I backed up a day using the setting restore, but nothing changed. Has anyone else experienced recent problems with their upgrade or anything?

iPad Smart case edges too sharp - solution needed

Hi guys I just got a smart case (not Smart Cover) for my iPad. It's awesome and it's pretty convenient. But the problem is, the edges of the case are too sharp and this makes it VERY difficult and painful to hold for long durations.  I was kinda hoping you guys could come up with some interesting and easy DIY solution for this. Other people  just tell me to get a new case. I simply can't afford one. I'm willing to try anything. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. :) Thanks in advance guys. :D

How to build a 5Kwh Power Wall using Headway 38120 LifePo4 Batteries

Frequent power cut during the summer and hours of no power issue during the monsoon makes our lives miserable. It's a common picture in rural areas where the overhead power line connection is prevalent. This led me to think about an alternative power back up that would be way better than the conventional LA or SLA battery solutions. With the constant advancement in the technology, new dimensions are being unfolded to us and I believe, the powerful Headway 38120 batteries are going to reign in the market for quite sometime. I need help from the experts to build a 5kwa Power Wall using Headway 38130 LifePo4 cells and an Inverter too. The parameters are: Output Voltage: 230v, Max Load: >500wh (I'm looking for 10hrs bkp= 5kwh), I'm clueless about how many cells I might need and how many of them will be in series and in parallel connection. Do I need a custom built charger for these LifePo4 cells and BMS too? Please help me up.

I am looking for a feasible DIY method of depositing aluminum from solution or vapor through electrostatic or other means. I've found one possible process using an ethereal solution of Aluminum Trichloride and Lithium Hydride. Will this allow an aluminum electrode to ionize into solution without adding more and more AlCl3? Is there a better way, such as potentially vapor deposition? Has anyone had experience at this? What are potential problems and how would you circumvent them?

solar powered cooler

Using these ideas as a starting point:"Another variant uses air, water, and a salt solution. Warm air is passed through a sprayed solution of salt water. The spray absorbs humidity from the air. The air is then passed through an evaporative cooler. Humidity is removed from the cooled air with another spray of salt solution. The salt solution is regenerated by heating it under low pressure, causing water to evaporate. The water evaporated from the salt solution is recondensed, and rerouted back to the evaporative cooler."Directions on how to make an icy ball. URL works occasionally. a non-flammable, non-toxic, and low pressure version possible?

Five "solutions" for global warming

Who needs to worry about cutting back carbon emissions or sequestration when you can just launch a rocket into the atmosphere loaded with sulfur to simulate a volcanic eruption? Or what about making trees shinier? Then again you can always try to cover the glaciers. These are all ideas that have been put out there to save us from ourselves, but almost sound like we're trying to kill ourselves off even faster. Especially that sulfur rocket bit.Check out these five techniques on the green fringes. Where do you think any of this effort should be going? 5 Strange Stop-Gap "Solutions" to Climate Problems

Experiment: Use of Hydrogen Peroxide to induce root formation in plant cuttings

I decided to try an experiment to see if dilute concentrations of hydrogen peroxide could promote root formation in cuttings. A rack of twenty test tubes was set up in the first distilled water the second a 1/100 solution of 3% h2o2 third 1/50 solution of 3% h2o2 fourth 1/25 solution of 3% h2o2 and fifth 1/12.5 solution of 3%h2o2 We see in this image taken after one week that only the control has started growing roots. Conclusion, H2O2 does not induce rooting of cuttings.

How to make sterile saline for contact lens storage

It would be amazing to learn how to make sterile saline solution for simple contact lens solution. Most commercially available contact lens solutions have harsh detergents (granted, to keep bacteria at bay), and they are expensive and irritating. I've been using plain sterile saline for years without issue but it's just salt and water - can't somebody tell us how to make it for free?NOTE: Nevermind. I just saw this crazy letter. I will stick with store-bought.

I found this video very interesting because it actually gives a proper solution to a big problem. It even uses a material that is pretty much abundant in our world (carbon). the use of this material would open alot of independant project and automated. I dont have alot more to say but I think this would be a great stimulant for a collective mind. Any ideas what you would do with it or where you would want to see it?

Custom Refrigerator Skin

I wanted to figure out how to create a skin for large items such as refrigerators, washing machines,  etc.   I am having trouble conceptualizing the necessary steps to completely hide cosmetic blemishes on large machines and appliances.  Would creating a skin be a good solution?  I am guessing there is a more elegant way than simply placing a large image printout underneath glass?  Also FYI, some of the appliances are completely brand new so I would ideally want a "top layer" solution as opposed to a "painting" solution. Nice to have features: 1.  weather proof 2.  Can be easily swapped with new design

Solution to Knex P90 magazine?

Here is what I believe the solution to a great, working P90 magazine. This magazine holds many grey and blue spacers. It also will shoot them, so its also the gun at the same time. It can launch the spacers up to 20FT using 1 rubberband. It hasn't been shot using two. But this magazine/ gun could be great used on a P90. So if anybody wants to build it and start working on a P90, have at it! I'd only like the credit for this concept, thats all. And if you successfully build the P90 I'll award you with a patch! Well anyways, tell me what you think!

Bumped Topics

I (along with other members of the Instructables Community) have noticed a problem with bumped topics. Topics that were originally posted over 2 years ago are being bumped to the top of the forums. In most cases this is due to comments that don't even contribute to the conversation. What solutions are there to this problem? I don't like the idea of locking topics. This puts a stop to contributions that might actually be useful. What solutions do you guys have?

A very important suggestion for Instructables

Hello, I'm a researcher interested in wiki-based problem/solution management (Instructables is exactly an example). I have found a big problem with such sites and how to solve it: Problem base (PB) wikis already exist, such as WikiHow and WikiAnswers. But I think they're not well-organized enough. For example, WikiHow has a category called "Air Conditioning" which collects solutions related to air conditioning: As you see, there are no subcategories in this category. All solutions are just listed in A-Z order. A person must scan these solutions one by one to find a solution that matches his problem. What's the ideal PB in my mind? Under a topic like "Air Conditioning", the PB should further categorize problems in three ways: 1. By symptom ("What's wrong?") 2. By task ("What do you want to do?") 3. By component ("What component is your problem in?") Each of the above can walk a user down several levels of subcategories until actual problems come into sight. This is what I call "well-organized". "By symptom" and "by task" are actually approaches that categorize objects (here, objects are problems) by function, while "by component" is an approach that categorizes objects by structure. (Visit for my original post on this.) Best Regards, Ziyuan Yao

Repairing a broken whammy bar on Guitar Hero controller

Recently the whammy bar on my Guitar controller broke. At first I overlooked the very simple solution. A rubber band. If you haven't figured the solution out now read on. If you have goodbye. Take the rubber band and put it around the bottom of the whammy bar and the other end around the white part where the strap attaches to. Simple. Too simple. But it worked for for me so its good enough.

NIckel Acetate Creation from Nickel II Oxide for Nickel Plating

Chemistry question here.  I wanted to play around with some nickel plating, and I started to follow a popular recipe that I saw on YouTube.  It started with Nickel II Oxide, placed in a malt vinegar for a week to create a solution of Nickel Acetate that you could then use as a bath to plate things with Nickel.  I purchased 100 grams of 99% grade Nickel II Oxide, and let it sit in 2L of vinegar for a long time.  After 2 weeks there's no hint of the emerald green Nickel Acetate.  So I purchased some glacial Acetic Acid, and added it to a liter of distilled water to make a 50% weight solution of Acetic Acid to make a stronger solution, and still a week later nothing green.  Solution is in a clean glass vessel.  A local chemist at work said it would be slow, but man, this is taking forever.  What am I doing wrong, or what could I do different? I know Ni Acetate can be achieved with pure nickel and electricity in vinegar, but I really want to try to convert the nickel oxide.
