Make a stamp disappear?

I'm planning a mystery dinner party. There will be a postage stamp on display. I have a way to trigger a lights-out remotely (just by plugging the lamps into a remote-control switch). During the blackout, which will last a few seconds until I can "find the fuse box," the stamp needs to disappear. I could of course just walk over and steal it myself, but I'm looking for other suggestions. Print the stamp with some kind of ink that will vanish if hit with a camera flash? Some sort of motor-and-string attachment that could pull the stamp into a hidden chamber in the display case?

A more efficient way to stamp paint

Hi all! I have been working on a crowd source campaign for elaborately designed dice for a while now and have a problem with my home manufacturing process...hopefully, someone can give me some ideas. I need to find a quick and efficient way to apply paint to the raised surfaces of the dice faces. You can see in the rendered pic the 3d printed file that I'll be making the mold from. I made the numbers extend out instead of going in to simplify the painting but need to get down a system of applying the paint. I was thinking some sort of stamping but thought that was only good with ink. Any input is appreciated...

I want every time the right (or the left, it doesn't matter) built-in touch sensor is pressed, the right (or the left, it doesn't matter) motor to be given power for 5 times with a pause of aprox. 1 second between each time (see picture), and then stop.I would really appreciate that if you could help me. Please post your program, or pm it to me.ThanksP.S. Be careful! I DO NOT use servos! I use simple DC motors with a driving module! Cool Tool - Basic Stamp Logic Analyzer

A month or so ago Parallax had their basic stamp logic analyzer on sale for $30, so I picked it up. Its a slick little tool . It is handy to use when testing your wiring and software. If you have a BS2 and see it on sale again over at Parallax check it out. The only downside is the software is windows only, so mac geeks like myself will have to use a VM. -Joe

Seeking Advice on parts and next steps to make computer controlled toy

I'd like a fun project for my 6 year old but one that would still keep me interested. What we've come up with is this :  A device that we could fit into a stuffed animal's head that would spin its head in different /axes depending on the sounds it hears or at random intervals.  What specific parts and approaches would you recommend? I've done some electronic design decades ago but am rusty and am not that familiar with microcontrollers but am a fluent web programmer. I'm looking for advice on what parts I'd need , especially with regard to the micro controller (my initial thought was a STAMP 2) and motor assembly.   Below are the features we'd like to incorporate.  Features:  -small enough to fit inside a 4 inch round stuffed animal's head. -battery powered -One or more sound sensors that would enable the motor to respond (ie, turn toward)  a sound. -The ability to play and record sounds. -variable speed motor and preferably one that would be able to turn the head on more than one axis (sideways and up and down) -At least 10 programmable actions. A sample action would be to spin the animal's head toward a sound.  -nice to have: ability to plug into a usb port and download new programs and sounds from our website Recommended parts list? Design software or websites? anything would be helpful to get us going in the right direction

Printing/Painting onto a cylinder (specifically, a drum stick)

Sooooo... I'm planning on making a very nice pretty etc etc pair of drum sticks for a friend who is a serious drummer and among other things I'd like to do to make them individual is getting a design on them - be this by staining, printing, stamping or whatever (I'm not sure how it's done professionally and I feel paint would quickly come off... :/) So, dearest Instructablers, does anyone have any guidance as to how to do this? Cheers!

Time stamps going nuts

Just noticed that instead of the usual hours I now see a lot of time stamps in minutes. Looks a bit weird to see "Last posting -285 minutes ago". I don't mind a challenge every now and then but is it a feature or a bug that we get minutes instead of hours now?

Electronics Parts Suppliers

I'm curious about where instructables members purchase their electroincs parts. I've played around with electronics since high school, but I've always been in an environment where parts are "free" (aka paid for by others). Now that I'm branching out on my own, I'd like to know the best place to buy parts. I did a quick comparison of Jameco and Mouser on my blog. http://www.thelumberlab.com/2011/catalog-fight-jameco-vs-mouser I'd greatly appreciate it if you all could share your thoughts on this. Thanks so much.

Are Seeed Studio Shields Compatible with the BASIC Stamp 2?

This is more of a programming question, but can Seeed Studio "shields" or modules be programmed with the BS2? Most Seeed components say they are compatible with Arduino, but I cannot determine whether or not the BS2 can control it as well. Also, if the BS2 is in the Stampduino, would I be able to program the Seeed module using PBasic? Thanks, these are a lot of questions and I would greatly appreciate any answers/comments.

Hi - I've got a business idea that requires hardware and I can't build the thing myself.  I'll write the software for it, but I need assistance building the circuitry. The circuitry involved would include a temp sensor, R/F communications module, photodiode, memory (possibly micro SD), controller,  and a timer in a very small form factor (about the size of a cigar tube). I'll split any profits from selling the device 50/50 with the HW designer.  I'll ask you to sign an NDA before we get going. Please contact me here or at bret at thelastmilellc dot com. Rgds, Bret
