Lately there have been fart bags set off on my bus about three times, though it's totally nasty, i got to thinking: what do they put together to get fart bags to smell so bad? i then said, " i am totally going to make my own stink bag and use it for a particular purpose. so my friend told me to mix ammonium sulfide and water. so that's my question: where do i get ammonium sulfide at age sixteen?

How to clean stinking kitchen tubes?

Get chemicals from supermarket, pour it into the basin, pour hot water, clean everything with acid, or? I'm looking a green way to clean the basin, the tubes are open but there is a smell coming up from the tubes. edit:as an answer to bleach I'll recite from grist.org:"The corrosive ingredients in these products can severely irritate eyes, skin, and the respiratory tract, and can be fatal if swallowed. Chemical drain cleaners are among the most dangerous of all cleaning products, containing sodium hydroxide and sodium hypochlorite (bleach) that can permanently burn eyes and skin. In oven cleaners, lye and sodium hydroxide can burn skin, eyes, and the respiratory tract."the p-trap in the kitchen is made of metal, anyway I guess it can be removed and cleaned manually which seems like the best way. the air valve in the kitchen is the yellow one, so I think it's not the water that blocks the air blow.I don't think I have a disposal ( is it the machine with knifes under the sink? i don't have that one)but I'll try to pour a some lemon juice, too.I think the enzyme cleanser is this one:http://www.thisthatotherthings.com/bacoutfoamer.html?productid=bacoutfoamer&channelid;=FROOGbut I live in Italy, so I'll try to find another one at least in Europe.as I live in an apartment, I can't clean more than the pipes under the sink, not to mention to change them.other solutions I've found are: *Pour down half a cup of sodium bicarbonate (or baking soda or sodium carbonate) and half a cup of vinegar, wait 15 minutes, pour down 1 lt. boiling water. I translated it from another language and there is a confusion here about sodium bicarbonate, baking soda and sodium carbonate, I didn't get which one to use.this works for opening blocked drains or the toilet. BAKING SODA IRRITATES YOUR SKIN, USE GLOVES. it makes a chemical reaction and you should be careful when it boils. but the ingredients are harmless to nature.to disinfect:*Mix 2 spoons of borax, 1 cup of vinegar and 500ml hot water, use it for toilet, and similar surfaces.I don't know how/where to find borax (water+O2+sodium+bor) but this solution might help for the smell.

have i done anything wrong?

Today with my friend, i made a saturated solution of hydrogen sulfide by boiling aqeous hydrogen sulfide solution made by reacting hydrochloric acid with calcium sulfide. then what we did was we mixed the solution with ammonium hydroxide with hopes that as simply logic would predict, that we would get ammonium sulfide. now, the end result was nothing like ammonium sulfide, and was actually almost completely scentless, aside from the strong odor of exess ammonia, though we have not yet removed any of the mixed solution from its sealed container yet. i would like to ask, did we make ammonium sulfide suitable for use in a stink bomb? and if not, what did we do wrong? in multiple previous questions i have asked if hydrogen sulfide and ammonium hydroxide will mak ammonium sulfide, however, in all questions lemonie and others change the subject and spam the questions with warnings about the dangers of hydrogen sulfide, but refuse to actually answer the question, and so have forced me to go trial and error in the practical rather than the theoretical first. we do not plan on re-attempting the experiment until we know exactly what our outcome will be, which is , if we either mix a solution of hydrogen sulfide and ammonium hydroxide, or bubble hydrogen sulfide gas through ammonium hydroxide solution, will we get ammonium sulfide! also whoever best answers the question will recieve a best answer, also if you know any other ways to make ammonium sulfide, please do tell

I can't download any of my videos from my Flip or Flip software to Windows Movie Maker. Is there a way i can get it to download? Insurance- Why bother?

Insurance.  Why bother paying for it?  People say that by paying for insurance, you are protected and don't have to pay so much for repairs if something happens.  Wrong. Insurance companies do everything they can to not pay people. For example, in light of our recent burglary, mom went down to the insurance company we signed with to make a claim and get some money back.  However, we didn't get a single cent back due to a $1,000 deductible that applies to each individual item stolen.  Since none of the items stolen cost over $1,000, they didn't give us anything.  What really stinks is that when we signed up for their program, they had a $500 deductible, which applied to the total cost of everything stolen.  They basically jacked up their deductible, without notice to us. I have a Palm Treo 700p and a PhoneLabs Dock n Talk that I'd like to connect. sodium pyrosulfite/Bonide stump out

Well today I went to the home depot planning on picking up some grants stump remover, they were all out and the only other similar item was bonide stump out, it didn't have an ingredient list, and really wasn't comfortable asking the sales guy if this stump remover had explosives in it. (Especially since im 15.) so i bought it came home and did some research. So this crap has no potassium nitrate, but i found its 98% sodium pyrosulfite, now the name has the word PYRO in it so I'm hoping someone out their knows something I can do with it, right now all i have figured out is when it comes in contact with water it makes sodium dioxide, which is really smelly gas, so I have an idea for an impact stink bomb, any other ideas.

Broken rice cooker: what is wrong with it and what is the flat thing?

We've had our second rice cooker fail (this Black&Decker; rice cooker replaced an Aroma rice cooker which failed). What happened was it started to stink and didn't cook well, then finally the thermal cutoff inside failed. I've already had the exact same problem with the previous Aroma rice cooker... let me explain: In that Aroma Rice cooker which failed, I replaced the thermal cutoff with a direct connection and it worked! Well sort of... It actually overheated all the time, but didn't heat the food very much. Inside the connections I had made were melting/burning and it was always stinking, so of course we did not use it anymore. So this means there was something else wrong with that rice cooker. It overheated for a reason, and removing the overheat protection caused it to overheat. Rice cookers are very simple, so I have no idea what the problem was (and is). The only suspect is some weird rectangular thing i've seen, where two wires go in; one to the switch and the other to the element. So with this Black & Decker rice cooker, which has been working for quite a while (maybe a year or two), it finally failed by overheating the same way the old rice cooker did when I removed the overheat protection. It stunk a bit and didn't heat up well, then the thermal cutoff broke and it became dead. Replacing the thermal cutoff won't fix it because it would just overheat again. So what is wrong? Is it that rectangular thing? I opened the rectangular thing... inside there is a sandwich of materials and a wire... The first layer is the top metal cover which covers it up (and also always becomes rusty). The second layer is a thin papery insulator (or I think it is). The third layer is the same kind of insulator, but cut and it has a thin wire wrapped around it connected to the two wires going to the whole thing. The fourth layer is another insulator like the second. And the fifth layer is the metal frame which all the previous layers sits into, and the frame is bent around them to hold it together, and it has a screwhole to attach it. What is this thing? Is it some resistor? Does it increase resistance as it heats up, to regulate the temperature? And could this be what failed?

What is Polyurethane Construction Adhesive? (DIY Clamp Question)?

I'm building a wooden clamp, and I've seen people use Polyurethane Construction Adhesive, and I don't know exactly what it is. Of course it's an adhesive, but I can't seem to find the properties that define it... I also know that it's really expensive, and has a very short shelf life, so I want to maximize my use out of it, if I buy it. Is it sticky, before and when cured? When cured, is it brittle like super glue? Hard like epoxy? Fairly soft like Hot-Glue, or very soft like silicone adhesive? Does it adhere better than most epoxies to wood metal? Do you think it could glue a threaded to rod to a wooden handle strong enough on a homemade clamp? Is it the expanding glue? Do most types stink like crazy? (worse than most Epoxies) Do you think it is worth the price? Is it that much better than Epoxy? Thanks!

DVD player: Burned circuit repair

My old-ish dvd player (with surround amp) suddenly broke as I turned it on. The speakers began to hum, and as I immediately switched it off, a column of smoke actually rose from underneath it's hood, stinking off fried component... I've opened the player/amp, and immediately located 2 user-accessible fuses that are definitely bust. However, something elsewhere must have broken/shorted, thus causing these fuses to blow (obviously). Is it possible to locate the source of the problems, and perhaps replace the components? I was hoping to find some unmistakable signs of fire, or some exploded caps. Some components do seem to be fried, but how can I be sure I've found the damaged ones? Also, from my intermediate engineer's point of view, my diagnosis is that someone has, at some time, spilled something into the player (note the pools of goo highlighted in the photos attached to this post), which may have shorted out some components. If anyone has some tips to help me along, it would be great! Please have a look at the photo :) - JK

Zippo case, made from an altoids small tin

Hey I have this Altoids case, it's one of the smalls. I was thinking of what to do with it, then I looked at my zippo. I hate the case my zippo is in right now, it's old and worn and for some reason makes your hands stink if you hold it at all. So my zippo fits almost perfectly in the smalls case. But I was wondering if anyone has any good ideas of how to make it where you can light it when its in the case. I was just thinking about cutting some holes in the top with my dremel.  But I would maybe like to try to keep the original flip top aspect of the case. So some how make it flip open like a zippo maybe. Anyone think this sounds interesting. And know where I might be able to get the mechanism. Or is there a way to take it off my old case.     Thanks in advance, maybe I could make an instructable on how I do it.

Victor mouse Traps?

I am using the good old VICTOR spring mouse traps. I caught the first two bang with good old peanut butter. The next one i baited with peanut butter. They licked it clean! Not even a speck of peanut butter any where. Tried another victor trap. I thought the 3rd one might be defective? NO! The 4th trap, same thing> My son said I wasn't using enough peanut butter. So I crammed as much inside of it as normal. Then I added a bit more on top and sides. Again they cleaned it all off. Not even a speck left on the trap. Does anyone have a better idea? I feel like i am just feeding the mice. Maybe the first two were baby'sher975383@aol.coms?? And these are cunning adults? I am going to use mouse poison if I can't figure this out. My husband doesn't want poison because they can get in the wall an stink for ever. I do not have a better solution. I would be grateful if anyone has an answer for this!!!  I don't want filthy mice in my house! Thank-You, sugarbear

Yo Membership people: Cannot access PDF documents. I sent a message explaining this and received a reply that I still had access until next year.  I really want the pdf for the Spooky Telsa Spirit Radio so I spent the money for another PRO Membership.  It now says I am a member until 2012!  So why cannot I access pdf files?  Also if I am a PRO Memeber how can I get rid of the ads? If pdf's are becoming a problem, will you make the instructables available via DVD disks or books like Volume 1? By the way how do I get a reply? The forum stuff stinks.  This is all frustrating since you have a darn good product! Thanks Tommyt

The thumbnail image representing my instructable "survival fishing kit" is incorrect.

While creating my instructable I uploaded an unrelated image onto the introduction step.  I have since deleted this image but it remains the thumbnail that represents the project which stinks because people are going to get the wrong idea about what I made.  My instructable was recently featured on the home page and I hoped the issue would magically fix itself but it seems to still be the wrong photo.  The picture in question is of a circular brown wooden shape with a few fishing hooks in the middle, the picture that should represent the instructable is the one with the text survival fishing kit that shows the kit and the stuff that it holds.  Here is a link to the instructable; https://www.instructables.com/id/Survival-Fishing-Kit-3/ . The problem is easiest to view if you search the instructable or if you look at the featured instructables on the home page or in the outdoors section. Also I was wondering if the instructable could be refeatured on the home page with the correct picture so that can get a true sense of what the project is about.  I have this project entered in a contest and I feel that the bug has done me a disservice as people who may have potentially voted for my work might have missed it because the picture was misleading. Thanks for your time, and I look forward to your response. Best Regards, Matt

Hello, i just tried electrolysing 50mls of water with a teaspoon of dissolved salt inside it, using my tv's power cable which gave out 12v @5.5A. after about 5 mins of electrolysis, my entire room began stinking like chlorine, and the salt water was splattering and bubbling out of the very small container i was using. i was using carbon electrodes for both the anode and cathode, and they were fizzling like bi-carb soda in vinagar as soon as they both touched the water. what i need to know is, how can i improve on this method to get a high yelid, say 99% of sodium chlorate in the end, and not end up with perchlorate, or hydroxide?' i know that if i want to get a high yelid of chlortae, then no chlorine  ions should be lost in the proccess, is there any way to keep all the chlorine? or is it inetivable that they bubble out? also, would it help to add hydrochloric acid to neutralise any sodium hydroxide that forms during the electrolysis, or will that destroy my electrodes? lastly, is 12v 5.5a too much? and is 66 watts too much? also is it watts that makes the electrolysis go faster, and not the voltage, because i have a power supply that can give out 12v 500ma instead. also, as with all my questions, whoever gives the best answer will be given a best answer.
