Thank you!

I just have to say to everyone who has contributed to Instructables, as well as the creators of this site, that I think this is the greatest web site since craigslist. Thank you all so much for your tremendous creativity and generosity. I've only known about Instructables for 3 days (since a mention on NPR's Weekend Edition) and have already built 2 instructables. Thank you all again, and again, and many times more. May all of you living in the northern hemisphere enjoy a wonderful harvest festival and may all of you living in the southern hemisphere enjoy a successful planting season.

Thanks A MILLION!

I'm posting today (my first personal forum post in just over two years of being on this site) to say THANKS! Thank you for following me.  Thank you for giving me a chance to share things with you and thanks for helping to get me to one-million views in just over two years. This comes from a regular, hard working mommy, that just likes to create and share what I've made so others can try it themselves and make it their own. This site is amazing and I wear my Instructables shirts with pride to work, around town and while crafting.  I love looking at so many of your amazing projects and getting to know more about you through comments and personal stories in your own Instructables, reading the forums and never getting bored with all the amazing stuff that goes on here from regular people like myself. I finally made it to one-million views and it's because of all of you. Thank you internet friends!

Thanks Instructables!!!!!!!

Hi Friends!!!!!! When I saw the Dead Computer Contest, my first thought was "This netbook will be mine!!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!", and started with the Cyborg project. It was a week working, and the last two nights without sleep. And finally happened! When I was waiting for my netbook, I dreamed carrying the computer everywhere in my backpack... SWEEEEEET!! But, when I opened the box, I saw love at first sight between the netbook and my mother, who had a big smile in her eyes when saw the beautiful computer. As my mother never had a brand new computer for her (she always had to depend of my old notebook or my brother's new one), I gift it to her. If you could have seen the happiness in her eyes eyes when I did that... I only have words of gratitude and respect for you, for all the Instructables team. Thanks Eric (ewilhelm), Randy (Randofo), Fungus Amungus, Stumpchunkman, Noah (noahw), Instructables Robot, THANKS TO ALL!!!!!! You made my mom happy, and made me happier!!! As I always say, being part of this community and wear the Robot T-shirt is a privilege, an honor and a pride for me, and I hope to make a lot of important contributions for all the members of this, the World's greatest DIY page!! And I want to thanks to all my friends and comrades who voted for me in the contest. THANK YOU!!! And Randy, your book is AWESOME. IT'S A MASTERPIECE!!!!! Thank you people!!! Thank you?

I'm speechless. Well, I'm as speechless as I get.  I'm sitting here with a bit eejit grin on my face because somebody has instigated a conspiracy, and I am the subject. Scoochmaroo has written a guide about me! Somebody put her up to it, more than one somebody, apparently. I have my suspicions, naturally, but nobody has owned up, yet. So, whoever you are, I thank you.  This site has been important to me for a long time, but this is really special, better than any of the prizes I've won, better than all the "feature" tags... Like I said... about as speechless as I get.

Thanks for the hospitality!

Hi everyone! It's been a week since Maker Faire, sorry it's taken so long to post this--I came down with some sort of awful bug the day after I got back to Eugene.  I've spent the last several days (including today, my birthday!) just lying around and feeling sorry for myself. Anyway, I'm starting to feel a bit better this evening, so I just thought I'd say thanks!  I had a blast at Maker Faire, helping out at the instructables booth and meeting folks from HQ, fellow authors, and just plain fans of the site.  It was really, really great meeting you all and seeing the enthusiasm instructables brings out in people. In particular, hello and thanks to Mikeasaurus, Laura, Quincy, Gregg, Randy, Sarah, and anyone whose name I forgot in the madness that was last weekend, for making me feel welcome.  Special thanks to Christy and Eric for really making me feel at home in a new city!  The week before MF which I spent working in central California, and the couple of weeks leading up to it that I spent preparing for the trip, were incredibly busy and hectic for me.  It was fantastic to cap that all off by seeing the weird and wonderful sights at Maker Faire, and meeting for the first time in real life people who I had only known previously on the internet.  It really made me feel like a part of the instructables community. Thanks so much, and hopefully I'll get to see more of SF on my next visit!  I didn't even get a chance to see instructables HQ! Ian

What are you thankful for?

Well, since this is getting closer to thanksgiving, I might as well post my list of what I am thankful for. I am thankful for (on ibles only) - The fact that I am still here - The fact that I am a knexer - The fact that I am good at doing something here - The fact that I have 10 ibles (used to be 11, but I unpublished 1 due to the community hating it) - The fact that I like rap...... What is your thankful list? It does not have to be limited to instructables. Please dont post a list on what you are not thankful for, those will be flagged......

A "Thank you" to an anonymous doner...

Someone gave me a free pro membership.  Since I do not know who it was and thus cannot thank them personally on their orangeboards/PM's, I have decided to post this topic to publicly thank the person who gave it to me.  To whoever gave it to me, you know who you are, thanks a bunch.  And the timing couldn't have been better, my birthday is coming up soon lol.

To instructable members: I wanted to post a special heart felt thanks to all the members who sent help to me through instructables. So many members sent help to me direct which has been so helpful to me. I now have a much better knowledge of how to use the instructables web page since receiving such wonderful help from so many! Thank you to all who have been so much help to me so I can now indulge in building all the wonderful things I have found here on instructables. I may now be able to contribute by sharing my ideas that I have learned over my life time. Thanks again to the members of instructables for helping me still keep learning!

A Special Thanks To All Instructables Staff Members, Feature Team Members, Volunteers, AND Members!

I wanted to give some positive feedback to everyone here at instructables because I feel they have earned it. When I first signed up I must admit that I was very frustrated because everything was new to me. I kind of felt alone in a vast world of the unknown. I felt bad at times to email staff members or volunteers because lets face it everyone is busy. Thanks for being patient with me. In time I have learned a lot. I have seen some very positive changes in the value of the contest prizes and the quality of the winners entries as well as the instructables staff working hard on the issues here. I personally wish to thank you all for your hard work and say I have noticed it! I also wish to thank everyone who has corresponded with me and answered my questions because you have been so helpful. A special thanks of course to Eric, Scoochmaroo, and Instructables Robot. A special thanks to Nizerbean because she has worked very hard helping me become better and better at editing my entries. I value all of her time and hard work and well, thank you! I know the amount of time it takes to email back and forth and tweak here and there. It takes time away from you doing your own thing but know that I appreciate all you have done! All of you volunteers Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I hope you feel appreciated. I also wish to thank the members because they too make up the instructable site. Thank you for awesome instructables that we can learn from, have fun making, and exchange creative ideas! You rock! A special thanks to wilgubeast, Chrysn, and Stumpchunkman. If any members wish to join me in giving this team some positive feedback please tell these wonderful people you value them also. How about an online Thank You Instructables party with cupcakes, pies, bbq, drinks, and diy patches! Thanks for reading this. Sunshiine

Found a pro membership code in my inbox :)

Not sure what caused Seamster to give a pro membership but I will do my best to make the freeby worth it. If my comments are useful for our members I will definately keep doing it and my ferrite project needs an update too. But time is a bit short due to other things I have to do, so it might be some time before I will get my hands and outdoors totally black again. Anyway, I enjoy being here and I think my inbox showed I'm welcome too, so thanks again !!!!

Thanks for a Great Summer!

Hey everybody, I've been kicking around here for a few years now, posting some instructables and the occasional forum topic, building some things and drawing inspiration from other members, but I'm usually pretty quiet outside of the comments sections of my own 'ibles. I want to take this moment to thank everybody here for teaching me how to Do It Myself and not be afraid to void a warranty or two.  It has absolutely changed my life and the very way I look at the world around me. This summer I was sitting outside with a friend of mine and a lady walked by with her dogs.  Like several other people have, she commented on how much she liked the thirty or so sun jars I've got scattered around the front lawn.  I thanked her and handed her the business card I've made for my alter ego (depotdevoid:  Inventor, Tinkerer, Maker, Mad Scientist!).  I mentioned that I build all sorts of things, do computer repairs, etc.  She thanked me and walked off. A couple of days later I got home from work to find a message on the machine.  It turns out she is the volunteer coordinator for the Science Factory, our local childrens' science museum.  She wanted to talk about having me visit a couple of their summer camps, themed "Insane Inventions!" and talk about being an inventor and a maker.  She said, "That's what you get when you put Mad Scientist on your business card!" So in exchange for time and materials, my daughter was able to attend a couple of summer camps there and our family got a membership to the science factory so we can go play with all the toys and see shows at the planetarium.  I spent an afternoon and a morning hanging out with eight year olds and building sun jars, talking about the things I'd built, and being told how awesome I was over and over again.  There are some pictures below, sorry there are none of the kids, I was really busy after everything got set up and didn't have time to snap any pictures. None of this would have happened if I hadn't come across this site all those years ago.  I thank each and every one of you for contributing to and helping build this community.  I know I'm not as vocal as some of the members here, but I want you all to know that I love this website and consider it my second home. Thank you, Ian (depotdevoid)

Thank you, Instructables!

I just received a three-month Pro membership.  I'm not sure who decided I deserved it, but I wanted to send out a general Thank You to the whole Instructables community.  I can't tell you how much I love this site! In particular, I'm grateful for the patience and understanding of everyone who has gone to the trouble to respond to my questions in the Answers area.  They've been immensely helpful as I've been building my first big electronics project, which I expect to post as an Instructable soon!

Posted by yoyology 8 years ago

Thank you, Instructables!!

We were astounded at the awesome box of stuff you sent us! Our kids were thrilled with the Makedo kits and airfish. I've always been a huge fan of Sugru, and couldn't afford to buy more when I ran out, but now I've got a supply!  <3 You guys are amazing in so many ways. Your support for my family has been so kind, and the community you've created has kept me sane through these past few years when life was so busy I could barely think straight. I feel honored to be a part of this community.

Thank you, all!

Okay, I've been really inactive the last year and a bit, and I'm really sorry for all my subscribers! I just don't have anywhere near enough time anymore :( But what strikes me is, I still get new subscribers! To me, that's amazing. I'm setting a goal to get at least one good instructable published by September. Wish me luck! *edit* WOW. I just noticed I have over 70,000 views. That means that either: A: 70,000 people have looked at something I've made, or B: A lot of people have looked at stuff I've made, and liked it enough to look at more. WOW. Thanks so much. It means a lot.

Thank You, Instructables

Five years ago today I joined Instructables. Since then I’ve posted 52 projects, favourited 510, and read far too many to count. I wanted to thank the Instructables community for all it has done for me over the past 5 years. Firstly, it gave me an outlet for my creativity. I’d always loved fabrication and design, but until joining the site I had no real reason to push myself to create anything new or different. Without Instructables I probably would have been content to limit myself to the projects assigned in wood and metal shop classes at school, and would likely never have broken out of the mould and began to design my own projects. Secondly, it helped me learn. Whether I was reading someone else’s Instructable or the comments on one of my own, I could always find some new, unique perspective that I never would have thought of. Thirdly, it taught me to persevere. Many of my projects had points where I was frustrated or dejected with how they were turning out, but I always pushed through them so that I could share my work with the community. Finally, it taught me to never stop making. There are so many projects out there I want to try, and so many ideas I want to share with the community; I think I’ll be busy for years to come. So thank you, Instructables. Here’s to five more great years.

Thanks for the Halloween postcard!

So somewhere between 1 - 3 weeks ago I got a PM saying I have done something to receive a prize/package.  I don't know who or how many people got one. If you got one comment! Please read what it says: Trick or Treat! Halloween is my favorite holiday. It's also the last traditional holiday where everyone agrees that doing it yourself is best. Plastic store-bought mask, or homemade full-body costume? There's simply no contest. I still have fond memories of building a haunted front porch every year at our old Somerville, MA house. All of the neighborhood kids loved to watch as I installed an elaborate set of homemade gadgets, but when they returned after dark they were almost too scared to ask for candy! Halloween is the highlight of the year for Instructables, too - it showcases the incredible variety of our community's creativity. I really appreciate that you've chosen to contribute your projects, your passion, and your time, and I hope you've found something unexpected, fascinating, useful, and fun on Instructables as well! You're an important part of our community, so I wanted to take a moment to write and send my thanks. Now, back to work on mt own costume... Happy Halloween! (Then  Eric physically signed it) (Then back to text) Eric J. Wilhelm - Founder/CEO of Instructables Then hidden in the envelope were 2 Instructable stickers. This post card means alot, so I will keep it in the envelope with the stickers unused for safe keeps :) Thank you Eric, Instructables robot, and every other creator of Instructables!

Helpful HacKerZ .. Thanks!

Is anyone else out there over the whole, turn on the computer "Oh. More viruses, delete, delete, delete" thing? It's getting old... Really old...My computer is stuffed, there are so many pop-ups yours won't get through anyway, It is so slow now I can't go to your sites and if I have to hear the "gummi bear" song one more time, I'll smash the computer which = no pop-ups at all!!!You know what would REALLY SHOCK ME ??Turning on my PC and actually have it work for a change... Instead of HaCkIn' PC's and damaging them, why not use your powers for good 'ole surprise factor... remember those days?? before profitiering arose. Why not let's say...Hack-in > Fix everything > delete all my viruses and set up a impenetrable firewall for me...Now that would make me remember your attack, instead of just deleting your infection like every other one.....I had been thinking about that for a while....Until last week when I received a new virus...After some analysis, it was found to be a simple crash virus for Internet explorer...Much to my amazement this little file crashes IE, resulting in all my annoying pop-ups from IE (I use Opera) having their window closed as soon as they open.... LoL!!!This is great!! No more pop-ups!!Thank you Mr or MrS HaCkEr for fixing my computer... You rock!!Anyone else had a weird or offbeat experience from a hack attack..?

'How to thank Instructables' collaboration

'How to thank Instructables' collaboration. Yes, I know I have done something pretty much exactly like this before. But lets be honest, the letters were rubbish, they were boring, and it was all done by me. This one is really going ot be one done by quite a few (14 people including me to be exact. One person per letter) knexers in the Instructables community. But the letters that you have to make, can't be like mine. All boring and flat and dull. They have to be CREATIVE, FUN, AWESOME, COOL! Now, you may volunteer to do a letter, but once you volunteer, you can't get out! DUN DUN DUNNNNN! :-) So anyway, please join in and thank the ible staff. Here are the paces avalible: The hand/glove - I - N - S - Hiyadudez (Sorry, I want the S for some reason :-P) T - Owen-mon-82397 R - Smilee U - Sprout_less C - T - A - Killer~safecracker B - DSMAN195276 L - Seleziona E - S - CJ81499 When you finish your letter, DO NOT show it to ANYONE! Once you have confirmed that you will be doing a letter, I will PM you with the link to the chatroom where you can show other collaboration members your letters and chat about stuff. Thanks for helping, and good luck :-)
