Voice changers

I know voice changers have been done, but theres only 2 instructables for some rather simple changers and other forum queries are quite old. What I'm looking for is a diy, real time voice changer circuit that can alter pitch and modulation, preferably with pots for fine tuning rather than presets, hopefully without the tinny sound I hear from the majority of samples I've listened to. An amped output with volume control would be cool too to overpower the users voice a bit easier. I'm looking for an output akin to this as an ideal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dqr5K0K4wL4 I'm no stranger to micro electronics, I can read codes and, with a little review, understand gates and ICs but still have no clue how to design my own circuits to do more than flipflop and turn things on and off. Any ideas ? Kits, DIY plans etc ? Simple and portable is better, want to incorporate it into a costume.

Wireless FM microphone real time voice/play transmitter

Hello I am looking to buy/build a small FM wireless transmitter with built in microphone (similar to karaoke but not exactly ) to transfer voice or sound  from playing  musical instrument  to earphone. It is meant only for practice purpose so does not need  high power, the distance between the microphone (the transmitter ) to earphone  is like from mouth to ear a few centimeters say about  50 cm. I am electronic junior engineer and have knowledge and experience in electronics mechanics and wave buy. Before trying to develop a new product  I was looking for a readymade shelf product. The first way I have searched the internet and reached manufacturer of Bluetooth solutions because of the plenty of Bluetooth earphone that are on the market, but quit a short time after I got some answers from the the Techs engineers  of the manufacturers that Bluetooth will not be my solution because It was not originally designed for true real time transmitting. The main problem is the latency time because there is a delay between the voice or play start until I hear it in the earphone there is improved in Bluetooth 4.1 and 4.2 that is 38 MS and may be not enough while fast playing, So as I was advised I started looking in the RF FM area. FM transmitters are long time in the market of stages and performers, there are high power grate quality transmitters that cost hundreds of dollars. Here is the summary of what I need :        I will need the smallest device (PCB) can be like FM spy bug transmitter. built in microphone (on the PCB ) , built in battery compartment (on the PCB ),built in antenna a copper loop on the PCB (no wire) Since there may be some problems like saturation of microphone or other problems with band width or  sound and sensitivity, sensitivity and control for the Microphone is important. Easy calibration of  tuning and stability , may be digital tuning is better. One option is to use the standard of radio FM 88-108 , but it possible that I can use FM VHF or UHF system that have both transmitter and receiver . If there are no ready made products thatn I can easy build a kit , or from schematic diagrams I will be thank full if you have any ideas. Nevat Ben Haim Recomp Computers

"Oh, you must have too much time on your hands"

After showing off something that I've worked on or made there will be someone, usually anonymous on the internet, who will say, "This guy clearly has too much time on his hands."Yet these same people will gladly spend hours on blogs or on digg making comments. If there was ever a worthless way to throw away your voice online, commenting on digg is one of the best. Or maybe youtube. There's no point to that for anyone.For me it's a matter of priorities. I don't watch TV and only occasionally watch movies. I think that for many people it's possible to get free time. The hard part is deciding which way to use it. People are clearly willing to spend it on distractions. It was recently announced that the average WoW player spends 17 hours a week online. And according to the A.C. Nielsen Co. the average TV viewer watches 28 hours a week. That's a lot of building time.So when someone says that I have a lot of time on my hands I can just laugh and know that I'm putting my time where I want to. It helps that I don't have kids, I know, but there are many others in the same situation as myself who work hard on keeping up on their cultural knowledge and that's about it.Time to make something new.

how can I make my voice come out of no where? need mini voice transmitters wireless/remote?

Like wireless a mini mic that I could hide in say a porta potty... or hide several that all feed me talking from across the road.? The idea is to hide tiny but loud enough "mic's" in a string of porta potties and mess with our friends while they do thier business hahaha. I do not need to hear them so no talk back. Also I'd like to rig a sock monkey so I can be the voice of gawd through him... this would be even better if I could hear responses - so litterally have conversations remotely through a plush toy. What are the devises that can help me?

Sound Modification w/Arduino? Answered

Is it possible to distort, amplify, or otherwise modify sound using an Arduino in real-time? I was thinking of making a voice modulator that I connect my microphone to in order to change my voice. Quality isn't an issue, I just wondered if it was possible.

Time/date based portable digital voice recording system? See Collaborations

I’m new to instructables & need input for digital voice recording system for memory impaired people (no short term memory) Need to record real time based voice all day/ everyday in stealth mode. Need time & stamped into recording/ otherwise it is too time-consuming & software intense & $$ to be practical/ which means it will not work. Never working in the past because of hassles with analog tape systems & not time/date linked. Music industry had the newest digital voice recorders w removable memory but not time based & microphones choice is wide range especially w/o experience. Need to search & recall audio files using an appointment type schedule or Day-Timer as a reference. Controls need to be simple on/off, preferably on by default (remember, users r memory impaired & will forget to turn things on). Without time base into original recording, it's hard to delete not needed recording time files. I'm now thinking small camcorders can record higher quality, be time based/ & provide more control, options, etc over regular recording. Brain injuries & dementia cause most memory loss problems. This system is considered adaptive equipment for disabilities. I'm hope instructables has the users with technical background who can help with this project because I'm @ a standstill pulling it together. Anyone with electrical audio engineering background? How many M's r out there? Digital audio combines new stuff from several industries. Mics from music & hearing aids, stealth portable wiring already in mp3 jackets & vests. Anyone interested? How do I figure out if this really passive guy likes me without outright asking him?

I really kind of like this guy in my French class and we text most nights when neither of us are working and usually we're joking... but in real life he's so passive most of the time, and other times he's sarcastic, and it's all underlined with this antisocial facade. Except we all know he likes to be around people. He likes to hear his own voice. But these are weird things that I like. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone had any advice about how to tell if he likes me back? It's confusing, because he acts like it somedays, not so much others...

A Dog's Dogbot

Dogs are great pets, I love them, but some people don't have the time to take care of a real dog so they buy a robotic one. There's a little bit of a disconnect between owning a living creature and a rechargable machine - but the desire is there.The sad thing is that we all have to go to school/work sometimes and so occasionally our dogs must fend for and entertain themselves, but what if there was a robotic YOU that could keep the dog company while you fulfill your obligations to society?A robotic dog companion could play chase, hide and seek, maybe feed the dog if you forget, train the dog using your own voice, throw a ball and if it was a Roomba it could even vacuum up the dog hair as it goes.You could even make a custom dog suit to outfit your iCreate with... and it be could pink - which is something you probably shouldn't do to your real dog.I'm having visions of coming home to an iCreate firmly entrenched in a happy set of canine teeth... haha... but then you could just have the iCreate say "Bad dog! Bad dog!"As I mentioned in my previous post, I'm getting really excited by all the ideas floating around in this contest and I want to thank iRobot for providing us the opportunity to build upon the amazing work they've done bringing robots to the masses. :)

Need a Game Development Team

Hey all, I'm looking to put together a small dev team for an indie game project that I'm planning. I'm working from the ground up here, so just about every role is still open. Experience is a plus, but I really only ask that you know what you're doing. The project will be a 3D Sci-fi/Fantasy RPG with a unique style of combat that combines the strategic skill-based systems of JRPG with the real-time fluidity of Western games. I'll put the project on a crowdfunding site like Kickstarter after I have a team and the completed GDD, so some stretch goals might include expanding to MMO or VR. I can give more specific details if you have questions. Roles to Fill: Programmer (C++, Unity 3D) Artist Level Designer Composer Scripter/Writer Voices (maybe) I couldn't pay immediately, but payment would probably be a fixed amount or a percent of the crowdfunding. HAL 9000 Open Source Community Project - Announcement and Invitation

Goal:  Build a HAL 9000 Series Computer Specification:  "2001: A Space Odyssey" Website:  www.hal9000project.org Instructable coming soon I watching "2001: A Space Odyssey" the other night and I decided it would be cool to build one.  I've never managed a project this big, and don't plan to start doing it now, so hopefully people will step up and assume various roles and responsibilities.  A project like this needs a program manager, deputy program manager, project managers, systems engineers, software engineers, programmers, graphic designers, web developers,etc.  I'll assume the role of chief engineer and chief software architect.  Also needed are an admin for the sourceforge project, and a webmaster for hal9000project.org.  I don't plan on having any special rules or regulations, I'm just throwing this out there to see what comes of it.  It could end up in a hairball of chaos, or it could evolve into a smooth running machine, although I suspect nobody will join in and it'll be just me with nobody watching. This is not a far fetched pipe dream.  The IBM Watson has already beaten the reigning champion on Jeopardy. I'll be defining all the individual subprojects such as the speech recognition function, lip reading function, speech synthesizer (it will have the exact voice used in the movie,) facial recognition function, voice recognition function, object recognition, various other artificial intelligence functions, neural network, physical mockup, physical prototype, software simulation, etc. There is a distinct possibility of getting government funding and along with commercial grants, therefore, some people could theoretically carve a full time job out of this.  That would work for me.

Is it worth the added expense to use nitrogen to inflate tires? Answered

I bought a new car last week and while doing the final walk around inspection before leaving the lot, I noticed the tire valve stems all had green caps. I asked the salesperson about them. She informed me that the dealership refilled all of their new cars' tires with N2. And then she rendered a rehearsed pitch about the benefits of N2 vs. air, less leakage, little tire pressure change and so on. By that time I just wanted to get the hell out of there and go home. I started thinking about the N2 issue today and after checking around, I found that it is very difficult to find places to refill the tires with N2 and those that do have it charge $5 to $10 US per tire for a refill. As of now, I plan to refill the tires with regular air when needed and throw the green caps away. My question is, does anyone have any real world experience with N2 inflated tires and any bits of advice or information to pass on. Thanks

National Science Bowl teams used my Trebuchet for a competition

I received an awesome comment. A high school teacher used the plans for my Quick'n'Dirty Trebuchet as a lunchtime competition project for teams competing in the National Science Bowl. The teacher made up kits of the parts: masking tape, dowels (I used chopsticks), paperclips, toothpicks, string, a binder clip and a weight. The teams then had to assemble it and held a throwing competition. The winner averaged over 20'.This is why I make Instructables, and most specifically why I made this one. I wanted it to be easy and cheap, no special hard to find parts, work well, while still being a real Trebuchet. I loved the comment.Here it is:My school hosts a regional competition for the National Science Bowl for high school students every year with the winner going on to the national competition in Washington, DC. This year I was in charge of finding some sort of competitive project for the teams to build and compete with during the lunch break. I chose your quick and dirty trebuchet and made a kit for each team. I made a few changes to your plans. I used 12" long 1/4" cut dowels instead of chopsticks since I didn't have a cheap source of chopsticks. I did not give them rubber bands and instead they were to tape the paperclips on for the axle. They were given a 200 g weight with a loop of string taped to it for the weight. The projectile was a mini binder clip with a loop of string tied to it. The complete kit contained the 9 dowels, a roll of masking tape, 4 paper clips, the 200g weight with loop of string attached, mini binder clip with loop of string attached, your printed instructions as a guide and a sheet explaining the rules of the competition.It worked out quite well. The teams were given a copy of your plans as a guide and 20 minutes to build their device. The competition was they were to launch the projectile three times and it had to land inside a track 4 foot wide each time. The distances of the two best of the three throws were added together for their score with a foul (outside the lines) counting as zero distance. We had 12 teams participate and the winner had a score of about 44.5 feet. They all had fun and I think learned something too.

This is a script i wrote for my graphic design class for a video project im doing. this is the first time me doing this. i didnt give the actors names because i wanted it to relate to people wathcing it and say "oh that sounds like me..." I was wantting to make something emotional that would motivate people to keep pushing on even when times are hard.( i will have pictures of story board up latter) hope u enjoy it :D By: Nick Melinich Female Actress *(voice spoken in her head, not out loud. More the actress talks, the more emotional she gets. By the end of her line, the actress will be sitting with her knees pressed into her chest, arms wrapped around her legs (like she is hugging for comfort), and lower part of her face buried in-between her knees, back facing the door, on the ground crying .Monolog show what the actress is experiencing, like getting bullied/ getting bad grades/ sleeping at the her desk/ and feeling alone.)* “I can’t… take this anymore… everyday just gets harder and harder… bad grades … no one to talk to…getting picked on……. Feeling alone… I can hardly sleep anymore, my new bed had become the desk im at, and my pillow is a cold hard text book… I feel like im losing control, my life is just slowly slipping through my fingers… when I attempted to stretch my hands to its full extent, deep into this dark abyss. Help!! It's 3am and I have a bubbling and squeaking battery!

Please help! I procured an electric wheelchair today (worn and torn, but in good shape.  It had 2 12v batteries, little smaller than an auto batt.  Didn't write down the amperage tho...The batteries were visually inspected for bowed or expanded sides, cracks, oxidation.  Everything appeared in order.  They have likely been sitting for some time.  Stupidly, I did not check electrolyte levels.  Oops.  Could easily be low.  I plugged the charger into the mainboard for 30 minutes, watching closely.  No issues, no overheating.  I left it for another 2 hours.  Again, no noticeable issues.  I tested the drive motors by controlling it around my driveway briefly. Power was very low.  It worked, but clearly lacked juice. I plugged the batts in for another 4 or 5 hours.  But after that time, I noticed a crackling/squealing (faint) sound.  As if pressure was escaping.  Bad news.  I had the chair chassis (and batts) in my workshop, and now I was afraid it may blow, contaminating everything.  The batteries feel warm. One more than the other. Beginning to panic, I threw on my goretex, respirator, goggles and gloves and carefully detached the battery cable from the main board.   I've never had one of this size blow, and have no idea what it could do.  very hesitantly, I rolled it into my garage, and closed the door.  Now I'm afraid to sleep, because I'm concerned about it. Is this Normal old battery behavior?  Could this be due to low electrolytes?  A small crack in the case?  Is there anything I can do besides wait?  I'm not real anxious to go too close for too long.  Is there anything I can do that would not increase hazard?  I'm about to throw a tarp over it, but is there a high flammability risk if a high amperage 12v were to blow? Guidance highly appreciated.  Thank you.

Fix your old office files with skin creme that will make you younger and speed up your PC

You might have read about great skin scremes that fix all you skin problems. Maybe even of programs that fix your broken Office 1800 files. And if you are really lucky you even noticed PFD converters that convert even your old shoes to PDF documents. But I was wondering what comes next? Do we see the egg laying, woolen pig? A creme that actually makes you younger (and if used too often reduce you to an infant)? I don't know..... As you can see in my profile I am an active spam fighter, so I took a few minutes to write this little joke - I hope you are still reading this crap as a real spammer would love it! If I see spam I falg it and move on, but this time I wanted more, more fun, more replies, more everything. Judging by the websites some spammers use they even post links to freeware and open source projects, which of course makes me wonder what drives those people. Some of the open source spam I actually checked and I doubt the authors know about anyone spamming their links in forums and on sites like ours. Office 2003 file Recovery PST data recovery, PST Repair, Build up muskles fast, Skin care professional, How to look younger These are examples we see every day and all have the same things in common: bad langues skills, no foramtting, plain links and a lot of crap noone would even bother to read, let alone actually click on the links. So why do they do it? What is your favorite spam you found so far? Please no link, just a short summary! What do you think about this form of spam? How might such a spammer look like and how does he do his daily routine? Write something funny, give us your opinion or just make fun of these spammers. And forgive the bad formatting, I could not resist to copy the worst these spammers throw at us. Just noticed the links this way don't actually work in the forum but I leave them this way so it looks like real spam lol

Awesome Things to do in Halo

Hi there, fellow halunatics. In this forum, you can post awesome things that you have done/seen done in any of the Halo games. Other games are not welcome. Anyway, here I'm going to list some things that are just downright awesome to do. Keep in mind that over the course of time I will continue to add to this forum. - Facial grenades. When you go up to an enemy and stick a plasma grenade on their face. This practice is funniest with a Grunt as the victim. - Headshots. Especially badmirable when they're moving and/or you hit your foe in the face, as this is just awesome, and it usually makes flop around in a comical manner. - Keeping the energy sword after you run out of charge so that you can punch people. Hilarious with Grunts, as their faces are just at the right level for your fist to pound on them. What a happy coincidence >:D - Bullfighting/toying with Hunters. Safest in Halo 1;  Hunters can't swing behind them. - Playing on Legendary without dying a lot. If you can do this, then congratulations, you are good at Halo. - Killing a Grunt/Elite just as he's about to throw a grenade so that it lands next to him and blows up his friends. A real Master Chief moment. - Not dying. Life is regarded by most people as a healthy practice.  - Ninja Mode. Sneaking around an area (possibly with the help of active camouflage), killing your foes without firing a single shot. Extremely awesome if an entire area can be successfully cleared in this manner. - Energy sword/gravity hammer kills. 'Cause they're just awesome. - Splatter kills. Shows that a) you know how to handle a vehicle well, and b) you are confident enough to get that close to your enemy to kill them instead of shooting them from a distance. - Boarding. Can't do it in Halo 1, but its still awesome.

Creating a chatbot or conversation robot.

Hi everybody.  I have a quick question I would like to throw out there and hope somebody can help. I am in the early stages of making an autonomous robot and one of the functions I would like it to have is the ability to hold a conversation with people. I have made a previous cardboard robot as a proof of concept for my next build and used an iPhone chatbot app which worked quite well, but I would like to make my own stand alone chatbot.    I am aware of the likes of "Pandorabot" and "Cleverbot" ect, but what I would love to do is program my own stand alone chatbot using the available hard drive memory on an old laptop I have laying around collecting dust, and use the Windows xp voice recognition to talk to it (speech to text) and have it respond with a spoken voice (text to speech) which would come out of a Bluetooth speaker located in the robot. I know my way around a computer to some degree but do not know how to program (although I did follow a program written down once to make an  analogue clock many moons ago), but with some hopefully straight forward instructions I am willing to learn and give it a go. I have a rough understanding what AIML is but don't know what I would need to use it. I want to go down this road as I want to have it off line, i.e not have to rely on an internet connection, except maybe my home network to connect to another device, not to rely on a second party server, and would like to put the old laptop to some use.  I know I bit about teaching or training a bot to respond, i.e, giving multiple phrases or questions with one meaning (eg Hello, Hi, What's up, Hi there ect,) and the bot to recognise and respond accordingly, and I'm aware it will be time consuming, but it's the basics, or starting blocks that I'm after, getting a bot up and running and ready to be taught or trained, and if it's something I can get my head around and it's something I could realistically do, I would love to give it a crack.  So, Is it reasonably possible for me to use my old laptop for the sole purpose to use it as a chatbot, what would I need to set this up, Can what I need to know, be broken down in to easy to follow steps for me or anyone to follow who does not have experience in this field, And what recourses are there that I could use if needed? Any help, thoughts and suggestions that anyone can offer to get me started on this idea really would be greatly appreciated, and may be of help to others too as I have not seen this sort of question asked anywhere on the inter web in regards to just using a home computer / laptop. The only information I can seem to find relates to online bots. So thank you in advance for any help offered and I look forward to any responses. Steve.

QUICK: Ideas for getting drone out of tree! [EDIT: already got it down, but ideas are welcome!]

Ok, so I have built up my $400 FPV quadcopter, and just last night, I was able to get it in the air working flawlessly! I then proceeded to have fun with FPV on a small TV monitor. I quickly got the hang of it, and decided to venture up and around the back yard. However, there was one problem I have been neglecting, which of course, it bit my ass as you can tell from the title. From countless hours of debugging and stress-testing previous weeks to find the intermittent issue with the ESCs, I finally pinned down the issue and was able to reprogram the ESCs, as well as calibrate them properly. (turned out when I first built the quad many moones ago, I unknowingly entered programming mode in the past and changed stuff I had no intention to change!) So eventually, I punctured one of the cells on the battery, and did not realize until a few days ago. I found after close inspection that it was most likely due to a crash which dislodged the battery from the strap, and it scraped up against the video transmitter shielding and heatsink. I removed and discarded the damaged cell, so I was left with a 2S battery. It is BARELY enough to lift the quad. And very slowly at that. However, I could not wait for the new battery to come! I just HAD to fly it to see if I got it to work! :D So today, I have been practicing full-on FPV, and unknowingly flew above a tree. I thought I was next to our chicken house,  and was looking directly at it, hoping to land directly in front of it. However, I did not know I was as close as I was to the tree directly below me. By the time I saw it it in the mobius camera, a slammed the throttle as high as possible, but by that time it was too late. That stupid 2S battery that I have not bothered to replace just did not have the umph to pop the quad up into the air higher, and as it discharged to below 6.98V based on the video feedback data, and the quad just kept descending even at full throttle due to the voltage being too low to effectively power the motors. So there it went tumbling and got snagged on to a thin limb. I lost remote control, so I could not get it unstuck like I did before from a previous flight. But I still surprisingly had FPV working, with the minimOSD sending down GPS data and battery voltage level. So I get to watch the battery voltage trickle down 1 mv at at time. (Welp, time to pop the kettlecorn and watch the 2S battery progressively deep-discharge and get more damaged by the minute!) It did, however, rise back up to 7.4V unloaded (telling me that the internal resistance must be pretty high, so I would not to too bothered too much to throw away the 2S battery entirely!)  Nor did I bother to watch it to see how low and how long it will take to discharge below the safe limit. I packed up all monitor and ground gear to get it out of the cold. So here it stands; stuck real high. I have tried climbing up 14-18 feet onto the tree, but it was still a good 12 feet up. I tried a rope to the trunk and shook the hell out of the tree. The limb that the quad was stuck on did not move much, and the tree was dampening the vibrations too much, even after hitting a resonance peak (technically a harmonic of the resonant frequency), where I could clearly see 2 "standing waves" in the trunk, but that got tiring real quick,and the winter sun has set and things were getting darker by the minute. I did not budge the quad.  I eventually resorted to shooting the limb with a 22 rifle, and on the 3rd shot, I got it to fall down!!! .......... 3 feet, that is, until it got stuck on an even LARGER branch, and now it is really stuck on it. It is on its side on a small fork in the tree, and it is snagged on that now. I can't shoot the base of the branch to break it, because it is like 4 inches in diameter, and on the forked branch right where it is caught, the quadcopter is sitting directly on! If I shoot it, there is a good chance of hitting the quadcopter and destroying the lipo battery causing it to catch fire, or hit electronics or the camera with the beautiful 1080p HD footage of the crash! Again, shaking the tree violently does not do much to budge it. Perhaps someone in the community has an idea on how to knock it down?

Crazy, Amazing and Delicious AIR Experience

What a wild ride... So here's the recipe.  Take one computer illiterate lady who's got a lot of random skills she's learned along the way and throw her into a room with 12 other people who's second  language is CAD or 0110001 or some other variation of looking into the eye of a screen and typing sweet nothings into its curvacious keyboard. Man did I feel like a fish in the desert.  I left orientation completely overwhelmed, flattened, and having no idea what I was doing there amongst all these obviously tech savvy folks. Once again odd man out. Now let me be clear, this has nothing to do with the people. Everyone was super sweet and willing to help. I was out of my element, which is exactly what I needed. For as long as I can remember, I've always thought in art. From the clothing and accoutrements I make for myself  to the images I capture. From the food that I create to the materials I bind together, or the mood i can set in an empty space if given a couple days to have my way with it.  Creation and art are an integral part of my existence as an external expression of my internal voice. So having three paid months to spend on my own work was a dream come true. For the first time in my life I was able to really focus on my work with 100 %  of my attention and not juggle how I was going to pay rent    and which piece goes where or how am I going to afford that thing I need for it.  It was fantastic to have that kind of creative freedom and I feel incredibly lucky to have had that opportunity.   I was able to finally create my stained fruit windows, something I've been imagining and working on in my head for many many years. I was able to experiment with different coatings and textures, slice thickness and transparency  to best preserve the beauty of the sliced fruit.  I spent day after day in the kitchen testing gluten free meal-worm flour bread amongst other insect delights. This was really an important experience for me due to my issues with factory farms and its effects on the environment but still feeling my bodies need for animal protein to perform. Once I felt comfortable with my results in the kitchen, I decided to explore the rest of the workshop at Autodesk / Instructables. Let me start by saying Holy $hit is that shop incredible. There are classes that are required to be able to use any one piece of equipment from the 3D printers to the drill. There were tools in the metal shop that I knew how to use but was unable to because I didn't take the class or get signed off. I recommend that any new AIR be realistic in what they want to use and take those classes right away. If you need a hole drilled and you aren't signed off on the drill, just ask someone who is signed off, they'll drill that hole for you because it's that kind of place. Time goes fast and if there is something you want to learn, go for it because when are you going to have that opportunity again? All the instructors are great and willing to answer all your crazy questions. A special thanks to Gabe for helping me so many times with all my computer questions and when the laser cutter doesn't feel like cooperating. (I did mention I'm computer Illiterate right?) On that note, I have learned soooooo much here and though I still feel that computers are generally going to shut down when I touch them, I have learned how to create an image and laser cut that image. I started with leather and made a few water bottle sheaths, dog collars, a leather necklace and a beautiful bag.  Now I'm working with wood and the detail is pretty incredible. I dabbled in the 3D software world and learned a little with Fusion 360 but I wasn't willing to take my precious residency time to learn it. But I do plan on pursuing that education. It's interesting to me and important for the way the world is going which I'm still trying to wrap my head around being a very old school DIY hand made kind of gal. I really cherished my time as an Artist in Residence at Instructables. Honestly, when I was there, I never wanted to leave and would stay into the wee hours. The people are very kind and its like a large quirky family. I've never worked anywhere where employees voluntarily and enjoyably come in on the weekend to work. By the time my residency was over, I think there were forty-five Airs. So many interesting and creative people.  What an amazing idea this is. What an amazing opportunity for growth this program has given so many people. A truly beautiful gift that I am forever grateful for. I have a nice utility pack I picked up at our local Walmart for next to nothing. It is lightweight and serviceable enough. However, mygo-to-warbag is a Brazos concealed carry pack from Flying Circle Gear. It's the best I've ever seen.For starters, everything about the Brazos bag is just a little bit heavier than everybody else's. The stitching is more rugged, the material is more substantial, and the zippers are of the big beefy sort. Additionally, the bag is exceptionally well imagined.There are two spacious center compartments large enough to manage a laptop. A small top pocket packs your wallet and incidentals and includes a hidden ID card holder. There is an integral hydration pouch along with four zippered pouches on the sides and a larger version on the front.The outside of the bag is festooned with MOLLE webbing. Thread a pair of ammo pouches in place for your shades or spare reading glasses. They can even carry ammo in a pinch. I can and have lived out of mine for extended periods while travelling, camping, or hiking.The handiest feature on my Brazos bag is the hidden "pass-through" pocket on the back. This discreet compartment is zipper-accessible from either side and is the perfect size to manage a decent gun. Open both sides and you can slide the pack over the handle of a rolling suitcase. Drop in a soft body armor panel and wear the pack backwards and you have an improvised tactical vest.

Robo-Goat Lives - At least I hope he Will

OK here goes. I work at zoo and I am a self taught geek, (mainly old school). I recently volunteered for a project mainly because I'm too stupid to know that it's not possible :~) Purpose of the program/project To - Engineer, Design and Build an Animatronic Robot Goat for: a Cheetah Conservation Fund in Kenya, Africa. This device will replicate a live goat in: size; appearance; movement; sound and smell (smell supplied by others), that can withstand the sever conditions of the desert, durable, possibly solar powered and easy to transport, setup and operate. Note: Up until this point real goats have been tried but they have not been too successful. They were either too stressed or they were stolen for by locals their meat. Objective(s): To lure Cheetahs into an area and enticement them into a cage trap with a simulated live goat (Robo-Goat), to provide a safe humane and ethical capture of wild cheetahs so that recently acquired state of the art GPS/Cellular tracking collars can be placed on them to help gather information to preserve this endangered animal. Analog Radio Tracking Collars have provided the only way to gather much of the information for many different wild animals. Radio Tracking style of the past has always been a difficult and time consuming endeavor, with old style tracking, large heavy radio collars that broadcast a ”beep” continuously, must be tracked with specialized hand-held radios and yagi antennas. All this to locate an animal being studied. Many times you would have to get close enough to disturb the animal just to find out where it is and then try to track it. Obviously not good “normal behavior” data gathering. The new GPS/Cellular systems track the animal in real time and send back data coordinates on the animals location, elevation, speed and direction as it travels. This GPS information is sent via cell towers, (yes they have them in Africa), to a computer that logs and graphs the movements. The research gathered through these efforts may provide the answers to saving these endangered animals. Project design/methods: #1. Establish parameters Record video & audio movements and sounds of normal & panicked goats Research and study movements and demonstrate what mechanical requirements will be necessary to replicate the minimum needed movements - [DONE]. {Raise and lower head; Look left and right; open/close mouth} Determine movement engine {I'm not sure here} {All of the movements are really axial in nature} {At first I was thinking motors but then there are end stops, control systems, ect. Building: wireless monitor/tablet recycling old laptop parts

I could test the whole set up but would have run 1 usb cable, but that's a deal breaker for full wireless... If I had a old bluetooth mouse and knew how take its transmitter out, that work but a bluetooth usb adapter the would plug in the ar1100 board would be the thing I need.If someone would know how to remove the mouse transmitter and wire it to male usb plug I would be happy to buy it. I real want this to made from as much recycled parts as possible.I just don't want to have run a usb cable from ar1100 to the pc.I don't think the same usb dongle that's used to the pc is the same as the one used in every bluetooth mouse or keyboard. TheDunkis's War Game Idea

*=UpdatedAlright well here's an idea I had for awhile and I've posted it in a comment but I wanted to post a topic to see how others like it. Going a long with my style of naming things I'll just call it the TDWG. Please note you may change any number that you like in here. These are just my recommendations. Here's how it works. You'll have any number of teams that will each get a split amount of knex pieces. You'll be given an amount of time say a half hour or so to build up-1. Defenses2. Weapons3. Any other extra things such as traps or ammo holders stuff like that*You'll have to use an honor system (until someone come's up with "Splody Armor") Basically you can set up an amount of health like 10, 25, or whatever and then you assign each type of bullet a damage amount. For example you could say-Green Rod=1Dark Grey=1.5White/Dark Grey+Green Rod= 2Orange connector= 2.5Blue Rod= 3Orange Connector+White Rod (What was going to be the ammo for my repeating crossbow)/+Dark Grey= 3.5Yellow= 4/5Red= 5/7Grey= 6/10The last three rods may be changed depending on your starting health. I didn't want people just making simple guns that shot grey rods to get an instant kill with little effort but I also didn't want to discourage snipers from wasting the extra pieces just to do like 1-2 extra damage.*There are now two different types of ammo: Piercing and Blunt. Piercing are any rounds that have the tip of a rod (or any bow styled tip). They need to hit you with the tip or they only do half damage/ whatever less amount but they also OHK vital organs (Head and heart) and if we ever develop armor they would "pierce" the armor and only have the damage reduced by so much. Blunt rounds would be any connector made bullet. These are like dark greys and orange connectors. They do the same damage no matter how they hit you. They don't "pierce" through the body or armor though. Notice that connectors take up more space in a magazine (even if you add a rod for the tip to change the ammo type to piercing). Also they are pretty much the only ammo a rbg gun can fire which are all almost semi-autos with decent range. I figured this made the ammo types balanced out.~Extras~-The host can select the amount of knex that is used. You could give each team only small amounts so that they use them wisely or give everyone a lot to spam the parts as much as possible.-Fix Mode Basically if any piece is busted off from it's place you are not allowed to reconnect it and must take it out and add a new piece. This requires you to save pieces in case your gun breaks. *-/Medic Mode You can choose one team member to be a medic. They then have to stand by the person for 10 seconds for each health point and if you allow it 30 seconds to revive the person who has second chance perk (which would give them only 10-20% of their entire health so that someone doesn't purposely die to regain more health)-Originality rule. You make it so no one is allowed to use guns on the "banned" list so that we don't see a flood of killerk pistols. You could also make it where they have to build purely their own designs.-Perks (yes I play CoD Too much) Basically each player gets to select one special ability they get for the match. Stopping power would add 1 point of damage to the original damage for each bullet. Martyrdom would let you throw an explosive within meters of yourself when you die. Second Chance would let you lie on the ground shooting your side arm for 10 seconds or whatever your "bleed out" time is set at. In this time you may be revived by a medic. Juggernaut will give you an extra 20% health or so.~Strategies~Alright so here are some things to remember/ take into account/ try out/ blah blah blah/ I'll stop making things up now/ and minute now/ ok I'm done.-You must analyze how much knex the host has given you to make sure you don't accidentally run out half way through building.-Yes bigger ammo means more damage but maybe the bigger pieces are limited? They also take more pieces to make magazines for and need more power for distance.*-Take into account the different ammo types. Rods may be more accurate but you have to make sure they hit the person right to deliver the most damage. Blunt ammo takes up more room but they do the same damage no matter what and can be used in rbg to deliver heavy support fire.-Remember think assembly line. Would it be easier for everyone to make their own guns? It would probably be smarter to have like a couple people make the guns and then another part of the team build a wall or armor for defense.-What kinds of guns should you use? Small guns like pistols generally only use small ammo and thus less damage but you can build more in a small amount of time. Snipers with bigger ammo and longer distances would make awesome weapons when appropriate but take time and pieces. Making support weapons like rubber band powered semi autos offer great support power because they fire fast and have decent power. They take ages to reload and take up many rubber bands so they would be best used in bases with protection. Make sure you have a wide and smart spread of jobs for your teammates. -Setting up mines and making grenades could offer great defensive and offensive support. Throw grenades on charging enemies to make them retreat. The are usually easy to make although the best ones are also rubber band consuming and you'll have a limit to those.-If playing in large areas or better yet, dark areas, it might pay off to have silent weapons so that they don't hear you firing at them.-Set up an explosive environment with knex bombs such as IaC war bombs or DX8 (Compact version coming soon) Suplodies to shoot at to make burst of pieces fly everywhere. Set them up in the middle of the war zone or in areas with a lot of cover to make a no man's land where no one can hide.-Yes if the gun fires shot as in more than one piece of ammo at a time then each piece does the same amount of damage. So if a gun shoots 5 green rods then for each green rod that hits they receive the damage of a green rod. If all 5 hit then they receive 5 points of damage. With the spread of the shot you can dish out a lot of damage on a group of foes. They do usually have short ranges though like real shotguns.-Got any more ideas?Anyways I know there are other guides for things like this but I'll make this just for my game.~Classes~AssaultBasically the ones who get to charge the enemy. They'll fight using generally the "assault" rifles or true shotguns. MedicThe almighty healer of the team. You'll need to protect them. You have the option of giving them the ability to self heal although they cannot fight during this time. They will generally be equipped with light weapons to run around such as pistols and "sub-machine guns" Sometimes can be partnered together with the Support Class.SupportThey usually have the fast firing guns or repeaters with good distance to help suppress the enemies. They usually stay back at base or from a far distance. Sometimes they can be partnered with the Medic class.SniperThis is an obvious class... You hang back either at the base or another sniper point and snipe others. Obviously they are usually equipped with rifles with high power and large calibers. SmithKind of a lowly class. They're in charge of making more weapons and fixing them+your defenses after the building stage is over and the battle has begun. With them being the only ones who can build after the building stage they are more valuable than you think.*DemolitionShotguns and explosives! Basically a more destructive close up version of the support class. Being the pyro-masters they are they can build more explosives with spare parts like the Smith ClassI'll think up other classes later.Personally if I were to be in a battle like this I would probably pick the support class or medic. I'd probably arm myself with the Stg44 and then I'd use the TDS2 or a similar weapon just something small that I can use to defend myself while trying to reload the weapon. I'd probably make a few splody like weapons to lug out.What would you guys be and use? Also what would be your strategies? Most importantly how do you like the idea/would you ever play a game like this? I was just bored and wanted to post this.

Long Range Off the Grid WiFi Repeater

Hello Everyone,  I've got quite the project that I am undertaking and I am looking for a bit of advice. This will be my very 1st forray into long-distance wifi, as well as off-grid power resources, so Im biting off quite a bit at once! I have a friend who has been helping me with the research who has a much firmer understanding of both electricity and hardware, but he will be out of town for the next week and I would like to get a bit of progress on this while he is gone. SO, I shall consult the hive mind known as the internet. Alright, this project consists of creating an uplink between a remote shed, and a home in a nearby city, with a broadband connection. The rub, there is 10,000 ft mountain range in between the two. We have a site were we can put a repeater node at approx. 10,000 ft elevation, that has wonderful line-of-sight to both locations. However, this site is very remote, and will have to run off the grid obviously. The distances are as follows: Home to repeater: 3.96 miles (thats with Google Earth following the contours of the          mountain/valley, not sure how to make it just do a straight angled shot, so thats a rough estimate) Repeater to Remote shed: 2.68 miles (same issue) Background environment info: shed has generator + 60w solar array with 3-4 deep discharge lead RV batteries at 7400 feet. Has spring fed running water, which could be utilized for power as well, as obviously its always running. Repeater location is at 10k, as stated. Moderate to high winds very likely (data from peaks of similar altitude in the general area show gusts ranging from 40-60 mp/h, temperature ranges of  averaging 7 to 90+ for a the later part of July and August (F). Obviously, its very possible to get soemething below this, though the lowest Ive ever seen at the shed has been -15 (f), I would say most winters we could get a few nights that see temps below 0, but not often. Equipment Ideas: So to pull this off, we have come up with two ideas for the network equipment, which I shall discuss 1st, then I will show you what we have come up with for power.  - Network    - Repeater Node: rb433 wireless access point ($99.00) http://www.routerboard.com/pricelist.php?showProduct=43         with 2 r52h mini PCI wifi chips ($59.00 x2) http://www.routerboard.com/pricelist.php?showProduct=69         2 8-18 inch satelite dishs converted for long-range WIFI use (20.00 x2) http://www.engadget.com/2005/11/15/how-to-build-a-wifi-biquad-dish-antenna/ OR instead of a rb433, we could use 2 WRT54G Linksys routers like this. (I also have 2 BEF 801.11b routers that are legacy to the WRT54G. I would like to use this if possible! http://hackaday.com/2005/08/23/how-to-greyhat-wifi-repeater/ Now, I know that this later choice would increase power use by about double. From what I have been able to find, the WRT's would at anywhere from 4.2w to 8w of power. Anyways, I like this later choice because it would be significantly cheaper for the equipment, but do you have any other ideas? I know that the RB433 would work great, but its rather expensive all said and done after I throw up the power as well. Plus, if it takes a lighting strike, its out of commission, and 2 cheap linksys routers are much cheaper to replace! Anyways any input here would be great! - Power  so power to the repeater node is the real challenge. We crunched the numbers and came up with something almost exactly the same as below: From the datasheets, a routerboard will draw between 6-10W. So design for 10W. Over 24 hours you will need 10Wx24h = 240 Watt.Hours of power. For 7 days, you need 7x240Wh = 1680 Watt.Hours. A single, large deep cycle 110Ah 12V battery gives you about 1320 Watt.Hours of power, almost meeting the requirement. Now, to look at the solar panels: A good rule of thumb is to install 6 times the wattage that is drawn by the device. This is because only about 8 hours a day in sunny weather gives you maximum power output from a solar panel. So the other 16 hours you need to draw from the battery. (So already you need 3 times the wattage drawn by the device to break even each day) To generate 1 full day of extra battery power per sunny day, you need another 3 times the wattage. This is how we arrive at 6 times. 6 x 10W = 60W. So at a minimum I would recommend 60W of solar panels. The numbers came out to be about the same (Though they were a bit different when we calculated for the WRT54G option.) so, 60w of power generation to keep a decent charge on a battery. Now, we have a 60w panel at the shed, which is rather large to take up to 10,000 ft and place on the side of a mountain, and given the consistent wind element up there, we are hoping to do a hybrid system of both solar and wind. This is where things get tricky. A perfect balance, or even a more wind heavy balance would be great, such as 30-40w wind 20-30w solar. That keeps the panel size down, and uses a power source that runs 24/7. I dont care if we have some down time, this is primarily going to be used as a system to get a weather station with web cam to send in hourly photos during the peak hours. I can have the system at the shed shutdown automatically  using some cron jobs in linux during the evening to conserve power. When there are people at the shed, we would like to be able to get a good enough wifi connection to use a wifi device (such as an android phone or ipod) to use as a voip phone in essential communication. The teenagers aren't going to be chatting with their friends for hours, but we would like to be able to put a short call through in case something goes wrong, or we just need to get ahold of someone at the shed or in the city. Next the equipment at the shed should be comparable to the repeater node,  sans 1 antenna and just some low power embedded system. We would like to get a webcam and weather station hooked up on this end, but that can wait for upgrades later if needed, if power doesnt allow it. like I said, a simple water turbine could be used (something similar to the wind turbine perhaps?) and even another wind turbine could be built to add extra power dedicated to running any system at the shed, though I dont think the wind is quite regular enough to be viable here, but if its cheap, we could throw it on anyways. equipment at the home in the city is simple, just use an extra laptop or desktop we have laying around to be server/router, hook up antenna to this, broadcast connection, run the weatherstation/webcam web server off of this. So, thats the plan, but load of input is needed to try to come up with this. We hope to try to keep this sub $1000.00, but the budget could go higher. This is DIY at its finest! Free Code: JSLoad!

UPDATE: JSLoad is now hosted on Google Code. You can find the most recent source, revision history, documentation, and can report bugs, there. What is JSLoad? JSLoad is a Javascript file loader that we wrote for Instructables. You give it a set of dependencies and groupings, and it loads the files you need, when your executing code needs them. We're releasing it under the LGPL because we're cool like that, and because we'd like to use any enhancements that other folks come up with. You can download the code at the bottom of this blog post, or check out the test file to see it in action. Why use JSLoad? Generally, we use dependency managers to avoid having to think about all the couplings that exist within our code. A widget we've made may need a whole mess of stuff -- all spread out between different files -- to run. Dependency managers allow us to say, "Give me everything I need for this widget to run," instead of having to figure it out for ourselves, each time, for each widget. Other, well-written javascript package managers exist (e.g. jspkg, YUI Loader, etc.) So why did we write a new one, and what reasons might you have for using it? In a nutshell, JSLoad is small, flexible, and is designed to work on its own, without the need for any heavyweight framework. How does JSLoad work? JSLoad does the basics: you tell it that file 1 depends on file 2, so it loads file 1 first, then file 2. Throw any number of other dependencies into the mix, and JSload figures out the dependency chain and loads the files in the right order. The real usefulness of JSLoad comes with its ability to group dependencies using tags. Tags are arbitrary labels that you can apply to (i.e. make dependent on) any group of files or other tags. Tags can be applied to single files or multiple files. Multiple tags can be applied to a single file. You can even think of your tags as depending upon a portion of a file (say, class within a file containing several classes.) As a result, you can mimic most other dependency structures: Chains, trees, or more complicated graphs. You can tag things that often appear together, that share a certain aspect; whatever your usage calls for. At Instructables, for example, we generally have a base set of widgets and features whose dependencies are primarily tree-like. Those little bits are then collected into larger groupings like "editable" or "commentable"; abstract labels that approximate the kinds of interfaces that are common on our site. Tags are also very useful while refactoring code. Often, because of the flexibility of Javascript, you won't be sure of the best way to split your code across files. Which portions will be used together most often, and should thus be grouped together to reduce HTTP requests? With JSLoad, you can tag the variant groupings, then organize your code as you wish. Your web pages will just call JSLoad the tags as they need them. Over time, you may find that one tag is used much more often than the others. Using JSLoad, you can refactor your code into a more efficient file structure, without changing any of the script calls in the pages that use the code. How is JSLoad used? Here is an example of how to instantiate a new instance of JSLoad: var jsLoader = new JSLoad(tags); JSLoad instances are intended to be singletons. JSLoad was designed to track state (which files have already been loaded, for example) in one central location. The "tags" variable passed to the JSLoad instance is a list of tag dependencies. Here is an example: var tags = [ { name : "baselib" }, { name : "widget", requires : ["baselib"] } ]; As you can see, "tags" is an array of objects, each defining a tag and its dependencies. In the above example, the "widget" tag depends on "baselib." An implicit part of the tags definition is that, by default (and for conciseness), tags refer to files. So, in the above example, the "baselib" refers to "baselib.js" and "widget" refers to "widget.js". Repulsine - the great mystery...

Even before the repulsine saw some attention during WW2 there were sightings of what we know call the classic UFO shape.Be it in Austria, Poland or other places in Europe, people reported weird disk like thing with a dome flying around.What leaked in images and documents after the war shoed that the repulsine looked basically identical to what people saw as a UFO in the sky over big parts of Europe.Then again, the repulsine appearently never made it a usable stage, same for most jet fighters at the time and still they flew around...If we now just take it for granted that actual test flights really happened back then you might wonder why we did not see any after the war anymore.For most critics it is a simple sign of facts and "confirms" that the replusine might have been a nice idea but never anything that really left the ground.As said, I often like to dig deeper and in this case the digging took far more years than what I planned on.I can not provide any solid proof for the following but I am sure even a sceptic will come to similar conclusions after reading it.Try to find some "eye witness" reports from people who saw the so called "Roswell UFO".Yes the one that made Area51 so secret and famous...Reports can be boiled down to some essential features of the hull, for those who saw it proof that it is alien.Three distinct round shpes on the underside, like you add the bottom of an egg to a round disk.Said disc of the bottom was also shaped like a wing, or the flying disk toys our kids like to play with.On the other side the shape grew up like a half shphere with an added cone or round top on it.On these area they claimed to have see engine outlets or similar and appearently the top cone was spinning in another direction than the rest of the UFO.Now I am no expert for Roswell but if I leave area and time out then I could have been fooled to think these people discribed exactly the same thing people saw a few year eariel flying over Europe.The Roswell UFO was not from another world, just stolen from the looser of a really bad war.What was seen was a working Repulsine, be it an original or something the US created from the 5 prototypes that disappeared after the war.Ha, ha, good one, then why don't we saw them flying after this anymore?Well, for starters it was a testflight gone wrong.Presumable it was planned to be limited to Area51 but the pilot lost control.Considering the Nazies appearently did their best to kill everyone involved in the project before the aliies arrived it is no big surprise.What that test flight would have shown is the impossible manouvers people already witnessed over Europe.90° or more turns at full speed instead of making a turn like a plane, sudden changes in alitude as well as accelleration on a level that makes even modern rockets blush.And if it really was the first bigger testflight they did it explains the big secrecy about the Roswell incident and what followed and created Area51 as we knew it.A "weapon" capable of these things would mean total dominance and options to impove planes and more.So why did they not even do that - or did they?The repulsine was created based on what we call today fringe- or pseudo- sience.If there is only one peroson, or a few that can even understand the claimed working principles that it can't be science as we know it.So, lets take a look what things were already heavily used in the repulsine that "we" claim to have developed or discovered decades later.Coanda effect.When air travels over a surface then it will follow the surface.You can try this with paper strips and blowing on them as well as a stream of water and some shaped objects.Long known but never found any real use until the military picked it up.For example air inlets were then developed to utilise the coanda effect.Remember how a lot of them these days look like a ducted fan housing?The round and slightly conical shape of the inlet will actually act like an airfoil and provide lift - of pulls forward in the direction of the air flow direction of the engine.I supercars we use it to create more downforce and better aerodynamics.Venturi effect.Again a very old one but funny enough also a major factor to make a jet engine work.Tesla turbine.In the Repulsine the rotating copper disks acted like a huge Tesla turbine by using a similar effect.The space between the disks got smaller and smaller towards the outer perimiter.Due to the fast rotation the molecules were accelerated and this created a partial vacuum.We use these principles today for specail vacuum pumps but also in military applications.Harmonics.Without harmonics and resonance the Repulsine would have been impossible.And at a first glance it seems we never made any use from that bit of the machine.Then why do we design exhaust systems in such a way than already the extractors ensure a pump like action and controlled backflow?The sound a good exhaust makes is also based on using the harmonics created by the explosions in the cylinders and expanding gasses.We learned that it is far more efficient to use harmonics and resonance in an exhaust system from somehwere ;)Plasma.The repulsine was said to have emitted a bright glow during certain movements or speeds.To create plasma we need a lot of energy, not so much however if the plasma is a by-product anyways.We learned that a high enough voltage differencial in a vacuum can create a nice plasma arc.From there things like analog TV monitors were created.But we never made anything that creates plasma for any use in an atmosphere.Well, unless you start to check supersonic rocket engines and other things.The working principle is very, very close here in some applications like the ramjet.Vortex energy.Today we see all vortex energy stuff as a free energy scam or at best a waste of time.But from the inlet to the outlet the entire Repulsine utilised what we now know as vortex energy, vortex math and so on.The air is twisted and spun around so many times that it is hard to keep track - but it always happened in a harmonic and resonant fashion.In some way this is implepemented in very expensive cars to keep the ventilation system almost silent even at full power.If you ever take an expensive car apart you might wonder why the air system is not as smooth and straight as you would have expected to get this silence ;)There is more but the list would become too long ;)So, if the repulsine was really that great then why was it taken apart to only utilise fractions of it in other things?If you have something really great that combines a lot of things then no one would suspect if you "developed or discovered" some of it in other projects.And to give you a very bad comparison for the other way around:If you know how to combine a petrol engine with some long blades then you could fly!I know, we did that already but you get the point.I can give you a motor and blades but that would not mean you could build a plane or even helicopter!At that time and still today something like a Repulsine would upset the "balance of power".If claims are correct then the engines of the repulsine were only required to provide the enrgy for directional changes or speed but it flew on "free energy" as the main engine system.In lame words like a jumbo jet that only needs a small engine for the hydraulics and electricity...Another big problem is the replication even if you would have a complete and working model to disect.You see most parts were brazed or welded as screw or rivets would have been problematic in certain areas.Other parts like the Kudo horn like intake systems would even today pose a challenge if you want to replicate them 100% correct.And if your understanding of science and physics greatly differs from those who originally created the thing...If your understanding tells you a dice has 6 sides (we all know that) but in my understanding it would have 16 then you would never understand how my dice rolls ;)Bringing true free energy of any form into this world is only allowed if someone can still make good money from it.Just check solar cells and wind generators - we all can have them but our providers make sure they have enough of them as well ;)Will we ever see a fully working Repulsine again?Of course !Some people like old cars, some collect old planes or old machines and tools.A great project for people in the right trades is always to build thier own little steam engine.So to say as a reminder of how it all started.Same will happen with the Repulsine as the first really utilised free energy machine the world had.The war and killings were not what really scared the world.This happened and will happen over and over again to various extends.Really scary was once certain people realised what might happen if over there the war would end with a victory and people would have time to develop for peaceful things instead.Without the war or this idiot Hitler a peaceful war would have taken over the world by storm.Those making sure we know nothing else but paying for our fuel and energy would have lost their monoply.Times change though...We destroyed our world with our needs for fossil fuels and electricity.What is left we destroy by chopping it down, digging it out or just by building new estates on prime farm land.People are now more desperate then ever to find ways to reduce their energy bills or enviromental impact.Otherwise Google wouldn't make billions on all the fake free energy videos out there.But what would it take to recreate the Repulsine?The person able to come up with the understanding of at least attempting to build one again would need to have certain qualifications and titles.He or she would hold a Nodel price for completing some of our known laws of physics or for finding some of the still missing ones.It would be a quite hard to understand and like person too, maybe even highly autistic.The person would also have an addiction like need to complete things, add the missing bits.And of course a totallydifferent understanding on how nature and the universe work.David T. from England is such a person, or at least the closest mankind can offer so far.He can see math in his head as shapes and images.Complex math problems appear to him like developing landscapes in high detail.He even learned to speak icelandic fluently within 7 days!!Imagine such a person would develop an interest in the old pioneers like Schuberger, Newman, Tesla and so on?Where we normal people fail to see any relevance or connection a guy like David would be able to literally see how all these inventions and ideas connect.He would be able to SEE the math behind it!Knowing how something was supposed to work and combining what is known through patents, drawing, videos or reports would enable such a person to make conclusions.For example where we might just see a nice pattern when we throw a stone into an undsturbed lake such a person would also already know and see the corresponding math the created the waves and why they were created exactly like this.Assuming David has no real interest in such things, then is it possible others already try?Sadly yes and even worse they do it with kids.Learning methods that are different can bring great results.For example while we use a calculator for big numbers some kids attend really strict and performance based classes to do this with an ancient abacus!After years of hard and often painful training they are able to it with a small abacus that only has a single row of discs.Shortly after they graduate to a virtual abacus - they only twitch their fingers in the same motions they would use on the real thing, but the disks and rods are all just visualised in their heads.That however is all meant as an improvement and the kids do it because they want to and not because they are forced to.Like learning to be a chess champion before even being old enough to work...In china however we have a very selective education program.Kids are not just trained slightly different to our kids but also closely monitored on their progress.As soon as one stands out for some skill it is subject to examination.Being well above average here means it is an opportunity for the kid and the parents - on paper at least.We in the western world would see it as a viscious circle though.Over the years china developed not only a better understanding of how these special kids brains actuall do their things but also how to create tests for this purpose.What looks like impossible or nonsense to most kids will trigger a scecific response and understand in those that are special.We would create something that allows parents to know early on where the kid has really good skills and what activities should be promoted.In china though the parents receive a nicer flat or some additional income while kids are send to a far away school.Again we would refer to such a school more as a boot camp.Discipline is at least on military levels, same is the punishment system.In most cases families are not reunited for many years, phone or even video calls only happen in the rare times when western TV crews are allowed a sneak peak.I just say: If a kid would see the parents often enough then it would not only know what to talk about but also be happy to talk to them - this however you won't see.It is like they talk to some distant uncle or such.What is really scary though is how these kids are trained to see their purpose and how important it is to be the best in what they do.Imagine you lost your kid at an early age and the only thing you got over the year was letters from the government saying how well it is doing and that you can be proud of it.Then it graduates and you are not even allowed to be there on that day...After that the kid is gone for good, you get a new flat and your proud kid supports you with some nice extra income.You don't get to know where it is working, what it is doing or if it might just be attending some university.By any standards these graduated kids can be seen as a great number of genius young people.Math, music, languages, science, you name it and they will have the experts aged below 20 for it.But what do they do once school is finnished and life starts?So far no reporter or family was able to figure it out.Means they don't appear in some high profile company, they don't start a successful business or teach at any public or private school.I leave it up to your imagination where thausands of kids find secret employment once they graduated....If, at least in theory we could be able to understand all these old technologies then why don't we at least try?Everyone has a goal, some desire a happy family and nice house, other need fame or just money to be happy.With that comes greed.You might have a really nice car but that does not mean you would give to some neighbour for a trip.Even if it just a nice rose garden, you might not want to share the views with anyone.This is true on all levels and we created a term for it "Need to know basis".If you just operate a press in a factory then you don't need to know when or what the next job is that comes for your press.You will know when it arrives and can check the documents attached.You don't need to know that your council is expanding and it is only seen as a courtesy to let you know on some notice board or in the local newspaper.And even our government does the same.What we do from the first days of our new baby we do on all other levels in the same way.What the baby does not need to know we won't tell or show.But we provide all the littly anklebiter needs to develop and be happy.Changing nappies, feeding, proving comfort when sick or having a nightmare.Later we teach language and other skills like walking.It goes on as you know...Humanity as a whole is like a little kid as well.If we would know all the little, dirty secrets then we would riot and go mad.Things that are of no concern are nothing we need to worry about, so we don't get to know them either.Knowing how build the latest fighter jets is seen as a thing that would give a possible enemy an advantage.Makes a lot of sense to everyone as these things might have to protect us one day.The questions that remain are:If humainty is a child, then how old are we now or when do we graduate?If there is a collection of secret and old knowledge then who owns and controls it?What would it take to force the release of all the things people actually created for a better world and not to be locked away?As funny as it might sound but one answer to all these questions would be to do nice orund trip in your Repulsine.Fly over ever single country in this world.Let their guided missle and what not chase you and once enough show then how quickly you can make a 180° turn to get behind them.So called unimportant countries might ignore you and the people only enjoy a nice show.Those powerful enough will fear you and think it was "the other side" showing their superiority.Once done with your round they all will have to realise there is a new power that is at the helm now: Knowledge and understanding.No more secrets, a repulsine for everyone who wants the plans to build one.A new world would start.Ever thought about that when wondering why all these "Aliens" we see in their ships in our skies never land to say hello ? ;)Even if they would be Aliens and not just some human pilot in some experimental craft:Shouldn't this demonstration of absolute power and control without any violence tell us something?The Repulsine need to come back to life to end all this UFO nonsense and Alien theories out there.You hear the sounds, see the ligh show and impossible abilities.And suddenly most if not all UFO sightings would have a common factor again.Just because the Repulsine is claimed to be lost and that it never actually worked despite film evidence showing the opposite does not mean there is no one using the technology.A working Repulsine available to everyone would also kill the doubt on so many other old inventors and "fringe" scientists.Science and physics would need to be redifined as would be able to find a lot of missing links.I know there is not only a lot of people out there trying to get what they can about the Repulsine but also that there are others who try to prevent this.You have a really easy time getting permission examine some old and histrically important artefact from a museum than getting just a hands on approch for what remains of the Repulsine in various places.Not even decent 3D scans will be allowed.Anything like just getting a tiny pipe cam inside is rejected with the excuse it could cause damage.If the thing is a hoax and never worked then why would it be so important to never touch or move it? ;)I recently got word that two of the remaining Repulsine "artefacts" were examined by the same group of "scientists".This happened in the late 80's and said scientists were claimed to have had acces to a collection of spare parts for the original Repulsine that was lost after the war.A private collector was also mentioned who denied all access but what he had in a secure storage facility appearently disappeared shortly after his refusal.Putting all the dots and hints together it would mean that someone in the late 80's was able to get literally everything that is left of the project in his hands.Those who claimed to have seen these scientists working on the Repulsine leftovers claim they used top notch technology to do so, including 3D scanners - and those were basically imossible to get back then for any uni out there...The laptops used were said to use touchscreens and were connected to all sorts of equippment.And they did it in almost total silence, like a group who studied a performance many times and knew exactly what do when and where without the need of many words.Professional in examining something unknown all all possible levels.I was unable to get any information on these scientist or who they worked for.But if you are one of them and readin this then I would love to hear from you!

Howtoons the Book Launches!

It's been a long journey since I first looked over Saul's shoulder in our shared 4th-floor MIT Media Lab office and saw the proto-sketches that would become Howtoons, but today the book finally launches! Here's the word directly from Saul:I along with my co-authors and illustrators, Nick Dragotta and Joost Bonsen are proud to announce that today is the official publication and release of our fully-illustrated, science-meets-adventure-and-mischief comic book, HOWTOONS ! The Possibilities are Endless. I know I personally am nervous, relieved, and all of the other things that a first time author can be. Nick has drawn for Marvel and DC, including Spider-Man, X-men, Fantastic Four, and X-static titles. He is currently passionate about making more comic books for kids. Nick lives in a small apartment with walls lined by the shortened stubs of ruined pencils. He sleeps in a pile of eraser filings, drinks black ink, and exists on a diet of pureed superhero comic books.Joost Bonsen immigrated as a young boy to the United States from the Netherlands with his parents and his personal suitcase full of LEGOs. He grew up in Silicon Valley, California, immersed in that creative and entrepreneurial culture. While Joost was growing up, the vacant lot across the street from home served variously as play space, special effects set, race track, rocket launch pad and more as he and his friends made home movies, practiced being space explorers, and plotted space projects. Joost went to MIT for undergraduate studies in bio–electrical engineering and recently finished his graduate degree at the MIT Sloan School of Management looking at how labs are run, how research themes emerge, and how new technologies are commercialized.Saul Griffith grew up in Australia and his earliest memories of inventing things were of making grappling hooks for climbing trees and buildings. His childhood adventures included making his own rocket–powered toy cars, kites, and enormous puppets. He kept a diary of drawings of his inventions as a kid that included fantastic monorails and airplanes shaped like manta–rays. Saul ended up studying materials science—the structure of the materials we use every day—before going on to MIT to do a PhD in building self–replicating machines and a theory for folding 3–dimensional objects. He now works at Squid Labs in California inventing cool new things for making the world a better place. He still builds kites, they are just much, much bigger now.
