In the spirit of Halloween and to kick of Season 4 of The Walking Dead, I came up with this idea for a zombie-proof house as a sort of design exercise. It also has the benefit of sustainable zombie disposal. See some Pros and Cons on my blog. Tell me what you think of my idea. Do you have any ideas for a fortress or zombie trap? Post them here!

Ive got squirrels, and they keep on hiding mushrooms all around the hitch area of my 5th wheel camper. ive tossed the mushrooms, but the squirrels just bring them back. i already tried the simple box, stick, string & bait, but that didn't work. the squirrels were too smart for that. i dont want to resort to killing the squirrels, and detering them didn't work. can someone help me build a trap so i can relocate these little buggers?

I experienced a delayed posting of a project just this past weekend. I submitted an instructable Saturday afternoon to not have it appear until Monday afternoon. Somewhat frustrating to invest time crafting an instructable then to have it burried in the third page when it finally appeares over two days later. Many page views are missed when this happens. I believe the cause was that my instructable contained the word knife [https://www.instructables.com/id/Cut-Paper-Circles-With-Ease-Drawing-Compass-Knif/] and thereby became trapped in the filters setup to catch dangerous instructables. I understand the need for filtering and containing dangerous projects but having reviewed and released projects keep their original posting date means lost exposure. Maybe nothing can be done about it but I needed to share my frustration. Self therapy perhaps. There, I'm already feeling better about it. -Jason

I am building a mousetrap car that is giving me problems in propulsion. I have attached an arm to the trap, I have moved the trap closer to the wheel. I have added a second mousetrap, and it still doesn't work. Any guesses on why the car isn't working?

Okay, so we've got critters in our attic...Probably Wolf Rats or something....I've tried using a large bucket with a board ramp. On top of the bucket I've got a towel laid across the top. For bait, I've used bread with peanut butter. My trap idea just doesn't seem to work.... The animals steal the bread without fallin' in! They're smart.... Any other ideas? Thanks! :)

I am using the good old VICTOR spring mouse traps. I caught the first two bang with good old peanut butter. The next one i baited with peanut butter. They licked it clean! Not even a speck of peanut butter any where. Tried another victor trap. I thought the 3rd one might be defective? NO! The 4th trap, same thing> My son said I wasn't using enough peanut butter. So I crammed as much inside of it as normal. Then I added a bit more on top and sides. Again they cleaned it all off. Not even a speck left on the trap. Does anyone have a better idea? I feel like i am just feeding the mice. Maybe the first two were email@example.com?? And these are cunning adults? I am going to use mouse poison if I can't figure this out. My husband doesn't want poison because they can get in the wall an stink for ever. I do not have a better solution. I would be grateful if anyone has an answer for this!!! I don't want filthy mice in my house! Thank-You, sugarbear

Hi my name is Werner I am from South Africa, and a very enthusiastic angler (freshwater). I wonder if anyone can assist me with regard to a cheap and simple way to make my own frog trap to trap water frogs, as I use these frogs for bait when targeting catfish. Any ideas and assistance will be appreciated.

Hi Friends,Recently someone has been calling me on my cell phone about 3 times a day saying they are the secret service from a private Caller ID. It is someone from my high school. I think they are using a spoof card because the phone number is blocked or the white houses number. It is really starting to piss me off and I need some help. They have called about 7 or 8 times in the last 2 days. Its really annoying. I called sprint to see what they could do but all they said was that I would need to contact local law enforcement to put it to a stop. The worst part is they are not only wasting there own and my own time but they are also working away at my phone bill. So, I need your help. What do you think I should do, contact the local police and get the perpetrator(s) arrested for impersonating a government member or should I try something else such as taking the law into my own hands (phone trap/ back spoofing)Thanks for all your help.Joe Rowley

Okay, for physics class, we need to make a mouse-trap car, and I need some help. Basically, the only thing we can't have any electronics, or another mouse-trap. I've seen the ones on ibles here, and lots on google. The basic idea, is to have two CDs, each with a rubber band, or balloon around the edge for traction. But I am asking you, if you were making a mouse-trap car, what would you do?

I know how to make your own hornet trap. I don't know if I want to post it as an Instructable or not. It's more of an Idea of mine right now, so its kinda sketchy, and I haven't actually tried it yet. Here it is in a nutshell: (I will give better instructions if I decide to make it an instructable.) Cut a large plastic coke bottle about 1/3 from the top. Fill about 1/3 of the bottom of the bottle with a sticky liquid (Coolaid). Invert the top third of the bottle so the neck is down and place it back into the bottom 2/3. Tape the two pieces together and place somewhere (near a trash can, etc). Catch some hornets I know, it's vague right now.

I've had great success with the fly trap using a bottle. Can you do something for mosquitoes as well?
I work with a humane society and we have a need to build a remote controlled humane trap so we can trip the trap when the right cat walks in. It would need to run on batteries and work at a 30 yard distance. There are a lot of creative types out there and wondered if anyone had an ideas on how to add this device to a trap so it can retract a pin and drop the door. Any ideas would be appreciated..... Thanks, Jim

My shop is located in my horse barn and am bombarded with mice. I saw the electric mouse trap in our local hardware store, and found it fascinating...really a guy's deal. I am unsure as to the specifics of what is needed from a technical/electrical perspective.

Ok, so I've been shooting varsity trap for my high school for a few years now and I can shoot 200 rounds (8 games) in a row without feeling a thing in my shoulder. I've been using a Benelli SBE with stock recoil pads and no modifications. Whenever my dad shoots with me his shoulder gets sore after a few shots. From what i can tell we hold the gun in similar ways, do any of you have any tips?

I live in city usually (not my house), but on holidays in my village (something like mountain). I readed a lot off books at home about animals, and i love animals. I like to watch them, play with them, take photo of them...) and because i am living in village with my old parents both more than 60 years :P and my brother I cant play with anyone expect animals. My brother is lazy and just plays some games like CS and Tetris on laptop and doesn't like experiments and animals. I am 16 years old. I have seen lot off animals in my mini forest at my property and at forest near my property lot off animals like: birds, bats, frogs, bugs and i rarely i have seen: rabbit, wolf, wild pig, squirrel... So how to attract and catch any animal easy with 100% success without buying any trap expect buying something really cheap under 3$ or using something found in forest? (BUT SOMETHING AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE SO THAT MY FATHER WONT RECOGNIZE TRAP, I WANT TO CATCH ANY ANIMAL EXPECT BUGS, SPIDERS, FROGS).AT LEAST A BIRD EVEN IN WINTER HOW TO CATCH? I DONT WANT THE TRAP SEEN BY MY FATHER NOT BIGGER THAN BALL. I WILL NOT HURT BIRDS BUT JUST WANT TO PICTURE WITH THEM AND I WILL RLEASE IT AFTER SOME PLAYING AND TAKING A PICTURE. SO IF YOU DONT KNOW ANSWER DONT SAY ANY COMPLIMENTS!!! I DONT HAVE PLANT FOR MAKING BIRD LIME AND I THINK MOUSE TRAP IS TOO EXPENSIVE!

Our 12 year old neighbor will not stay out of my house and car. We have to keep everything locked, and even though we do that, he comes in. We can't afford a home security system, so what can we do? The police don't care, really, because they're always driving him home from someplace he isn't supposed to be. He is like a ninja- he used to come in while we're sleeping, and he could take things from right next to our heads without us knowing. Now, he usually goes into our shed and steals things even when we're awake, and have company! When we locked the gate, the window on the shed got broken. One time he almost walked in the door while my mom was sitting on the couch watching tv. He started to beat on the door for about 15 minutes. Mom doesn't want anything to do with him, so she let him knock because something happens almost every time he comes inside. She said he started to come inside, and she pretended to be asleep. When he saw her, he pulled the door shut real quick. I pulled into the driveway at about this point, not knowing anything that just happened. I though he had just walked up to knock. He then got all wide eyed when he saw me and my sister. He asked "who's in there!?" Like he was afraid or something. We said "mom," and he asked my sister for a cigarette. I'm getting tired of not feeling safe in my own home, and now we have someone else's car here. I don't want her stuff stolen, so what are some traps I can set up so that if they don't hurt him, they will at least wake me up so I can do something?

Hinges for floor door/ trap door Is there a hidden hinge that lifts a flush floor door? As the door will be heavy, I'll use a gas piston to aid lifting and closing. I like the system used in http://kims-kitchen-remodel.blogspot.com/2009/01/basement-hatch.html but the hinges are visible. Thanks for looking!!! Miguel?

I have also commented on a seemingly related old dead thread but hope for better luck here. Firstly, did anyone ever make any progress with building and successfully using an LED based moth lure/trap? Secondly and if yes, any advice? I am currently in the process of building a lure/trap that will use reflected wavelengths (interchangeable LED head) based on the principle that Moths (as pollinators) and flowers (as pollinatees) see and reflect UV light respectively and if that is true then surely i can take advantage of this to build a targeted trap to trick the moths in. note i will be testing UV wavelength (365nm), violet (400nm) IR and white LEDs.

My idea is for the robot to be a mouse hunter. I know this sounds far fetched, but all you have to do is load it with peanut butter. To describe the trap: You attach a capacitor, and leave the circuit open. The robot remains unmoving, and waits for the mouse to go for the peanut butter. When the mouse steps on the two separated plates, attached to the Create, the mouse closes the circuit, releasing the charge in the capacitor, killing it instantly. (A disposable camera works great for this, it has capacitor and voltage needed to kill a mouse.) The Create would search for either movement via IR, or, if possible, UV reflections from the ground. Mice leave trails of urine that reflect UV light. These trails give the Create an excellent place to set the trap. Once the charge of the capacitor is released, the Create will sound an alarm and flash an LED. Perhaps scooping the mouse into it's undercarriage and moving on to find another ideal trap site.

1. design and build a machine that will put your birthday candle out by setting off the mousetrap. Must have a diagram labeling your project. 2. the candle and mousetrap must be one meter apart from each other (39 inches) no more, no less. 3. you must have at least 4 simple machines in your invention. the mousetrap does not count as one of them 4. only the machine between the mousetrap and candle count as part of your 4 machines. 5. you may use any household item you choose as long as its appropriate for school. you must use the following but are not limited to 1 birthday candle 1 mousetrap at least 4 different simple machines

Want a sawback knife, not willing to spend 70$ on one just yet. So with a file, a hacksaw, and some sharpening stones, could one easily make a "saw" or some very coarse serrations on the back of a knife suitable for bush craft and basic survival/trap/shelter construction? wouldn't need to cut down a tree, just make notches in branches for traps, and basic things like that.

I've often marvelled at how fast fruit flies appear after dumping a fresh supply of the morning's fruit juicer cocktail mush on the top of our worm box. How can I trap those insects _economically_ and then feed them to livestock? Chickens, duck, fish etc. would readily gobble the fruit flies up IF the flies weren't flying around... how would you capture lots of wild fruit flies? I have been thinking about a trap that allows them to fly in but not fly out and then throwing the trap into a freezer to slow them down and then throwing them to the birds... but I'd like to find something that could be done entirely outdoors WITHOUT electricity. Ideas?

Hi guys, I want to make a sensor which can detect the dingo trap movement as I want to know if any dingo is trapped or not. I want it connect it with a dragino MS14( in 14 positions screw terminal). I have many traps in my farm and my part is to make a sensor and find a way to connect it with dragino MS14 14 positions screw terminal. Else will be handled by my fellow participants in the project. Does anyone have a any kind of knowledge about it?
