Stop and Go

This is a pretty easy trick. I will tell you that it does not look cool, but it does come in handy. See, stop and go is a trick where the yo-yo literally stops, then starts sleeping again. This comes in handy if you are in a tournament and your yo-yo's sleep is about to die. First, get into a brain twister mount:Throw a strong sleeper. Point the index finger of your non-throw hand out and bring the yo-yo up. Now move your throw hand under the yo-yo and up again on the other side.*For more detailed instructions, go ahead and surf the web*The trick itselfOkay, now that you are in the brain twister mount, bring your throw hand up and under your non-throw hand so it forms a sort of cup. Now move your hands up a bit and the yo-yo will come up to your hand. Be prepared to catch it. This is the "stop" part of the trick "stop and go". Now for the "go" part. Bring your throw hand under the yoyo and twist it so your fingers point away from you. Now pull your throw hand down and leave your non-throw hand where it is. The yo-yo should start spinning again and you are ready for more tricks.

Boing-E-Boing

Boing-E-Boing is a cool trick for the yo-yo. It is fairly simple, but still looks very amazing. First, go into a split bottom mount. To do this, throw a sleeper and go into a brain twister mount, but instead of bringing you throw hand under the yo-yo, swing the yo-yo over your index finger of your throw hand and it lands on the string. That is a split bottom mount. After the split bottom mount is in place, pass the yo-yo forward once by switching your arms. Now the yo-yo is in the middle of two strings. Move your index finger at the top up and down. Watch as the yo-yo bounces between the two strings because it has nowhere else to go!

Campfire lighting tricks?

I find myself with the task of lighting a camp fire, either dramatically, magically or mysteriously.  I know a couple of methods, but the campfire audience have seen them before. Anybody got any novel ideas for lighting a campfire at the sneaky pull of a cord, or throw of a hidden switch? (Yes, I know about wire wool and batteries...)

Parlor Trick Question

This fad of "planking" reminds me of a parlor trick I think I read about once. Perhaps from the 1800s. A woman lies with heels on one chair, head on another. Supposedly she has been hypnotized to be very strong. Then a heavy guy sits on her stomach. Is there a name for that? Or a place to find image, or reference?

WANTED: Instructable on Acrylic

I've only seen the end result of a project.  My college woodworking teaher had an acrylic cube that had curved holes drilled in it.  I know how it's done but would like to see an instructable on it.  I've searched and searched.  I only found a very broad article on the steps to do this but not detailed enough for me to attempt it. If someone knows how this is done OR has experience with acrylic, please let me know if you write an instructable on this process.  If you have worked with acrylic before but do not know the process, I can explain it. THANKS!

How they steal your card at an ATM!!!

This is how they steal your credit card right in frot of your eyes! (Well, kinda)One surveillance camera in a bank in Italy has captured these images. They clearly show how easily you may be swindled out of your money, while banking at automatic teller (ATM)Read the process here, or just hover over the pictures for the explanation of what's happening:Pic 1- The camera shows someone routinely making a bank depositPic 2 - But what this person actually doing is inserting something in the machinePic 3 - To make sure that nobody catches him tampering with the machine, he has a friend outside to alert him.Pic 4 - Once the trap is set, the victim enters the bankPic 5 - He inserts the debit card into ATM, and it gets stuck there! The victim is surprised: "Weird, maybe this machine is broken?" He looks around for advice:Pic 6 - Luckily there is someone eager to help to get the card out. What "the helper" is actually after is the P.I.N. code:Pic 7 - "The Good Samaritan" convinces the victim to try to enter the code again (he may blame the faulty keypad, new type of the machine, or claim to know the "secret unblocking code", etc.)Pic 8 - However, the card remains stuck, no matter how many times he punches "Enter" or "Cancel". The exasperated victim leaves, realizing he will have to get his card from the bank later.Pic 9 - As soon as the victim is gone, "the helper" returns to retrieve the card from the machine. Now he's got both the card AND the P.I.N..Pic 10 - he withdraws the maximum amount of money from all accounts on the card, and leaves. How it happened: Pic 12 - The inserted "card trap" is just a piece of black film, which blends with black plastic of the ATM.Pic 13 - The trap is inserted into the slot, with the ends slightly sticking out and glued to the outside, for an easy withdrawal afterwards.Pic 14 - Once these ends are neatly glued in, it's nearly impossible to tell if there is any foreign object in the slot.Pic 15 - The trap film also has special notches, to ensure that the card is not ejected by the machine when the operation is canceled.Pic 16 - Once the victim is gone, the crook unglues the tips of the trap and "fishes out" the card.DO NOT FALL FOR THESE TRAPS!Never type your PIN in plain view of strangers.Be on guard, and share this information with your friends!

Tips / Tricks Section

It would be good to have a TIPS/TRICKS category.  Sometimes i have some good info somebody else might be able to use. Not enough for a full Instructable. Its a tip/trick that doesn't take a lot of explanation.  Example ible.  I was forced to add more pictures just to get the ible to publish. I suppose those additional pictures help, but not really needed for this particular tip to be valid. So i suggest a TIP/TRICK section or something along those lines

Trampoline Trick Name

I have a trampoline, and I can do a pretty good amount of tricks. And recently I was looking for a new trick to learn. I found one that I thought was cool, but I don't know the name. What it is, is a 180 aerial (no handed cartwheel). Most of the time when someone is performing it, they are transferring from trampoline to trampoline at an indoor trampoline arena. If you know what trick I am talking about please tell me.

Hat Tricks and Card Cheating

I've just purchased a Indiana Jones Vintage (beat up looking) Felt Fedora, AND ITS FREAKIN AWESOME!!! Anyone know how to do some cool hat tricks? ie, rolling it about, tossing in air to put it on etc... Also, I know here is one (could do with some improvement), but I feel a sudden urge to know how to cheat at cards. Any help?

What tricks would people like to learn?

Well after a request for an 'ible on basic bike tricks as a follow up to this cycling 'ible I'm wondering what tricks people would like to know about so far the list is:Pulling a wheelieStoppies/endos (stopping or moving with the back wheel in the air)BunnyhoppingSliding in a reasonable manner (as in tailslides)I'd like any other suggestions, the 'ible will include all requested tricks that I can do, heck got any for me to learn? Just throw them at me. If I can I'll add stalls and stuff to this but considering where I live finding a good place to do so is hard (it's still a building site for the most part...)EDIT: The instructable is now up

Your Best Trick!

Hi Guys ^.^ Just wondering what is your best trick? hardest trick? and how you do it? Everyone has different techniques so your way could help others do the trick... :) My best / favourite / hardest trick is a triple K-flip into dark slide shuv-it into 5-0 grind with an impossible out. The K-flip I do like a normal kick flip but pop higher / kick harder, also one has to catch it before it makes the 4th revolution. The shuv-it is tricky as it goes 270degrees and 1/2 a flip, fingers go in the center and just behind and under 1 back wheel. Catch it and land manual on the rail then set up for a back foot impossible. Fingers like a K-flip but the back finger more to the toe side so as to hook/pull the board round.  Pop hard and swing the back finger upwards while at the same time moving the front finger out the way, as the board comes back round catch with the front finger and land it. Hope it helps anyone stuck with those tricks. Now I want to hear from you! =D Mountain Island xx

Your Halloween Plans?

So, what are your Halloween plans? Are you going to a party? Going trick or treating, or just going to stay home and watch Demons 2? This year, I'm not going to do much. Just paint my face white, and put on black lipstick and eyeliner while walking around the neighborhood. (Okay, I may go to some houses for candy =P)

What are you going to be for Halloween?

So what are you going to be for Halloween (as in what costume are you wearing.) Also what are you going to do for Halloween, are you going to stay at you house and give out candy, scare little kids, or go trick or treat with your friends?I am going to go trick or treating with my friendsI have also come up with a costume design which is a transformer costume that actually transforms! Unlike the costly imitation costumes at the store. Here are some pictures of it but it is not quite done yet. Also i was wondering if anyone would like to see an instructable on how to make this kind of costume? Its kind of like this but not as good: Please comment!!!

Little Gem Guitar Amp Questions

I recently went to build the Little Gem guitar amp from runoffgroove.com. Its a great little amp from what i have read. I made the basic heart of it so far. I have the four caps, resistor, IC socket, and its all connected. I think basically all thats on the breadboard for the PCB layout here: http://runoffgroove.com/littlegem.html(scroll down). I'm confused on where to put the two pots and connect power and all that. I don't have the gain pot yet, but i do have the 25 ohm rheostat. The rheostat has three prongs, would i use the middle leg for the "out" part and the other two for the other part? I can't seem to get it. Also, is there a common ground between the input from the guitar, the 9v battery, volume pot, and output? Help please!Update:I found a layout on Flickr that explains it, i think. See the third picture.

My PROPANE (!) Foundry

Hey, I'm sure you've read some of my other foundry questions and comments, so here's another. I have been using this with charcoal briquettes for quite some time now, and finally built a burner to convert to propane. I made my first melt with it earlier, and I don't think I'll ever switch back, no matter how high propane gets (price). I built a burner according to the instructions here, and it turned out fine, except that the flame won't leave the burner tube completely. It fits pretty well in my helium tank foundry/furnace (a .gif on how I made it is below), heating it up to melting temps on full blast in probably <10 minutes. It is SO much cleaner, easier to make multiple melts( no refilling charcoal), and is alot quicker in starting and finishing a melt (no setting up blowers, positioning charcoal, and that stuff). It was (at first) an easy choice to go with charcoal (cheap, could even be made for free), but after a couple melts, the fun got replaced by work, and I stopped melting metal. I discovered propane, built my burner for $35 total(including regulator) and was up and running within a day. ~$20 for a refill on propane when I run out is COMPLETELY worth it. Sorry if this seems kinda persuasive, but I am trying to help either people on this site, or one of the countless wanderers from Google. Some pictures of my testing (not my burning setup) setup are below.

New School Yoyo Tricks

Yoyo tricks have gotten a lot crazier in the past few years. People are playing with metal yoyos that can sleep for over a minute and can pull off a couple dozen tricks in that time. Some people even go off-string with the yoyo spinning all on its own.A company called Anti-Yo is in the thick of this scene and releases only a couple yoyos a year, but of high quality. The owners, Kiya and Sonny, started out as regular fans of the scene and decided to simply make their own and they've done a great job of it. They're living proof that you can make your hobby into something much more and start to have an effect on people all around the world. The video below shows their new yoyo, the BSP, being played with by one of their team players. Check it out.

How to skateboard

Some of us should post lessons on how to skateboard because there is none on this site (i think). People could teach others by pictures or videos step by step on how to skateboard. Like tips and tricks. Also we could start at like basics like how to turn and stop. Then have some tricks like how to ollie and kickflip.

Building a sawing-a-woman-in-half box?

I'm interested in building a box to perform this illusion on the relatively-cheap. Granted, there are many ways of performing this illusion; I'd like to build one that doesn't require two women but uses fake legs instead. I don't need help with the fake legs.

Glass Bottle Ring

Years ago a friend of mine showed me an easy way to pop the top off a glass bottle. The bit with the threads just snapped off. Now I can't remember how the heck she did it. I think she used two bottles and rubbed them together somehow. Does anyone know this trick? or another, also easy trick?
