My wife and I would like to collaborate on an instructable for the fashion challenge. Are we still elligible to win a prize in doing so? Do I need her written consent if we publish this through my account? The rules indicated that more than one author could exist for a given entry.

Bikes have been on my mind lately. Here's some video inspiration. The insanely good Ryan Leech displays grace and precision in Prague. Julien Dupont uses a motor to explore the city, but impresses nonetheless. Fixies strut their stuff in SF. And for some old-old-old school stuff, here are tricks from over 100 years ago.

My wife and I bought an 80s designed house that's not that well designed. We keep one of the litter boxes for our cats in the garage, which is accessed from the inside through the laundry room; and we want to install cat doors so our aging felines can pass through the doors easily to get to it, while keeping the draft from the garage out of the family room. The interior door (between family and laundry rooms) is a standard hollow core and the exterior door (between laundry and garage) is fire code rated solid wood door. We tried a standard top-hinged door with the cats already, at our old apartment, and the cats didn't take to it, so we we're hoping to do french doors, since they know how to get through normal doors pretty well. But we're kinda stuck on our lack of knowledge about hinge designs; we need hinges that swing both ways. Has anyone out there successfully completed such a design/installation and would be willing to share pics and secrets?

Ok, so, it was a pretty lame day at work, what with the apogee server crashing, and me being the only one to sort it. There was three upsides to my day, Firstly, my colleague gave me a cool pair of 3D glasses! (which is good, cos now i can see everything in 3D!) Secondly, my local burger king opened again, and i had an extra large bacon double cheeseburger! Thirdly, my book came, along with, MY OTHER BOOK! I knew that i had got into the book twice, which is great! but i only expected one copy of the book! Alas, i am now the proud owner of two copies of the book! So, i have to ask, does this mean i get two patches? did anyone else get into the book more than once, and received two copies? am i one of a kind? - gmjhowe

I have been thinking of building something like a two-way radio except that it should be more like a mobile phone network with the exception of call charges. it will be used in a small environment of about 100 people. I was wondering if anyone has ideas on how to build something like this.

I want someone to make me two PCBs, I am willing to pay you and shipping. I can get many different file types, and Drilling is preferable but not required, will pay extra. If anyone wants to be a giant help, you could do it for free?

Hi, I'm working on a project where we're working on a tele-operated robot and we are looking to include the ability to have a conversation. We would be looking to use earbuds and a microphone on the operator side and a speaker and microphone on the robot side. Does anyone know how to go about implementing this? It needs to be hands free on both ends as the operators arms are being mapped to the robots arms. Thank you.

Hello everyone, I wonder if any one can help me? I have fitted a two stroke engine kit to a cycle of mine, the thing was running perfect for 220 odd miles then starting stopping and would start again after a few minutes of pedalling. I have changed the petrol mixture and this has seemed to alter things slightly, now it will go but will not rev and only goes to a certain speed then starts kangarooing. When I engage the clutch it will not ideal it just conks out. Could there be something wrong with the accelerator perhaps? Thanks a very frustrated Paul

If one were to solder together two USB charger cables into a Y (a single USB jack leading to two iPhone 4 charger plugs) would this work to charge two iPhones/ipods, or would it cause issues? thx! R

Youtube poster RinpaEshidan puts up some great videos of walls being painted and repainted several times over and sets them to a nice groovy soundtrack. I find them helpful for when I need to give my mind a bit of a mental reboot. Here are two worth checking out.Do you guys have any favorite drawing/creating videos or other forms of inspiration?

Here are two knex walking machines of mine. Neither are bad, but both aren't great. I Might post the second one if I can make it better. They are both powered by two Knex Powerpacks. The first video is of the smaller one, and the second and third are the larger one.

Hi, I would like to make a very powerful 80w bluetooth speaker, but the only great audio amplifier that I found has only two output for speakers. So I was wondering if it will be possible to buy two and connect the first audio amplifier to the second one ? Cheers, PS : here is the audio amplifier and the speakers that I will use : http://www.ebay.fr/itm/232053348992 http://www.ebay.fr/itm/272387157947

If you were to take two model rocket motors and remove the secoundary charge (that pushes out the payload) from one and possibly fill the rest of the cartrage with homemade propellant. if you put one cartrage ontop the other and secured it with a little tape, would that work as a two stage rocket. does anyone think that the flame would travel into the secound cartrage and the pressure would blow out the first cartridge. Just wondering if anyone tried this before and is still alive and happy.

Hi! I have a question in case someone can help me. I need an AC/AC converter from 120V to 12V for a halogen lamp. The required output is 210W, but I can't find a big enough transformer for this. Is it possible to connect two, 105W output transformers in parallel in order to achieve the desired 210W?

I have two solar cells. one has an output of about 15-20v depending on the light. The other has an output of about 30-40v depending on the light. what will happen if I connect then in parallel? will the lower voltage one subtract voltage of the higher voltage one leaving me with about 15v? Will the amperage still double with both cells in parallel?

Hi, I'm trying to do the NES controller/mp3 player hack, and I bought a player small enough that the guts all fit into the available space in the controller case. However, it came with an on/off slide switch, and I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to modify that to the START and SELECT buttons instead. Thanks!

I have three chemistry questions. 1) What is my result when I mix baking powder(NOT sodium bicarbonate)and vinegar? 2) What is the result when one burns steel wool? Is Iron Oxide my end result? 3) When mixing vinegar and baking soda if I were to keep the mixture under pressure would the water and co2 stay as carbonic acid or still decompose into h2o and co2?

First bug: (Edited after post by Canucksgirl) When I go to the front page, the list of contest links appears between the "most popular" and "featured author" boxes, then immediately disappears and reappears below featured authors. On refreshing, the list pops back up to the first position, then blinks back down again. Second bug: I was unable to add any image notes to the screenshot - I was going to add something witty to the empty space middle-right. Desktop PC using FireFox 10.0.1 in XP Home Edition

Following along in the last post about the wild world of water, let's see what other natural oddities our Earth has for us. There's a strange sound coming from the ocean, they're calling it a "Bloop." The earth is known for whistling caves, and plopping mud puddles, thunder and earth quakes, so we know the earth is one vocal creature. But the bloop is new, and as of yet unknown. This is what we know: "Although the sound matches the profile of a living animal, it is much louder than any known creature can produce. Any creature that could produce such a sound would have to be many times larger than the largest whale."The story is here. What do you think it is?_BG\\via neatorama\\

Hello everyone. I have plans for foldable and floating house fit for 2 people with WC, 2 beds, 2 fishing chairs with tables and maybe a bbq :) I dont have the money to build it but its a dream of mine. I'll be happy if someone is interested and actually build this thing. when folded its 250sm / 150sm / 50 sm h. For the materials i can use steinless steal squares for base, old inner tires for support, light aluminium rods for the roof, some watter resistent fabric for the walls and some custom made beds and tables. I'm working on pictures with some lame architecture program and i'm posting them as soon as i can. I also have schematics of the joints and locking systems ... well if anyone is interested let me know

Basically I have two ideas, one of which I'm pretty ready to make now and another which will take a little longer to make, one is a tiny forge, like desktop sized, for working at home and the other is a much larger forge for big metalwork projects, thankfully the large one will actually require less parts scavenging as I have plenty of acces to scrap material and there's a brickyard over the wall from us which will do me the necessary materials very cheap, mainly because I did a little forklift driving for them for larger heavyweight loads over three tonnes. That's all well and good a big one I can get my head round easily enough, But. How would I go about making a tiny forge and I mean miniscule, it's main purpose is for heating to cast for my specialist parts I prefer making and the other is for low material single cast jewellry my mum makes (she used to own a jewewllry business and still makes the odd bespoke items. But my main question is how I can build a reliable yet compact forge and furnace, from what I have sitting around I'm sure I can come up with a decent fuel source, ranging from butane torches and stoves, both of which can do propane and I could go to natural gas (we have a special plug out the back for gas barbeques the house had it when we came...) but my other questions are a bit more odd, first of all what would make a great crucible, I need something that'll be fairly invincible to the hardships caused by life, as the other liely user of the forge and furnace is very forgetful and sometimes accident prone. Next up is the housing, would it be feasible to use a single block of thermocrete cast to make the main furnace housing, as in everything is but the fuel and air source holes and the crucible hole would be one block, as it stands that seems like the best way to make it simple and effective, plus it would be pretty airtight where needed. Next question is the fuel and temperatures, I know that butane at full combustion get 1300C and 1000C is a practicable operating temp. for a butane item but what about propane or even natural gas, since it would be very cheap and clean burning... I'm a bit of a noob towards this end of the scale, I can make stuff hot and I can do alot with these things but actual forge and furnace making is a little beyond me on this scale, however I can think of several advantages to my baby furnace, including the practical movement of it, as it could be self contained very easily. The pic was just one of the last pictures that's remotely intersting I uploaded, however it raises it's own points as the jet engine basically welded all it's components forward of the flame together.

As my profile status has said for a while now: I've been working on a TR8 and I might post a forum topic about it. This is the forum topic about it. It's amazing how often I've been on lately, but don't expect that in the future. I sort of don't have anything else to do with my time other than going to the library, taking walks (It's nice out where I'm at) and a few other things, but the bulk of my time, for the week, has been spent here. Stuff I have to do will keep popping up from here on out. I call this custom TR8 of mine The AutoSuggestion. Why? Because it's the name of this one song that I like. I realize that I should send a link to the song, but I figure since you guys won't like it anyway, what's the point. (I have a weird taste in music) It Features: A comfortable stock. A comfortable handle. A comfortable fore grip. Innovative new TR body design. I can't really say anything else about it until I'm finished; once I finish, I can you tell about the range, and other things. I'm going to have to make many cosmetic changes before I upload it to the Rods and Connectors contest. (Thanks, JonnyBGood for alerting me of this contest) Any helpful suggestions as to what I can do to improve it would be much appreciated. Thanks for viewing! Update: I finished the rough draft; the pictures will now show the latest version; it is now on the official prototype phase. I'm probably just going to tinker with it excessively until it's perfect for the Rods & Connectors Contest. Update: Made it fire; gets decent range so far. Installed turret rotating system; it requires bands, but is very easy to use. Update: Cleaned up stock and barrel area. I also made a completely new handle.
