Questions about Homemade stickers

Hello fellow craftsmen! I have a few questions I'd like to get some clarification on if anyone has tried the Instructable by SirBrittanicvs for Homemade stickers. 1. Can this instructable be applied to pencil/pen drawings without distorting the image? Or must the stickers be printed out by the printer? I'm just worried that the pictures will get smudged do to the mixture of glue and vinegar. 2.) After appliying the adhesive to the paper how long can the stickers be stored before the adhesive is ineffective? There was another question I wanted to ask, but I cannot remember it at the moment. But I appreciate any further assistance with this Instructable before I begin and mess something up, haha. Happy New Year everyone!

Electromagnet using permanent magnets

Hi All, I'm attempting to make a very small strong electromagnet using permanent rare earth magnets. I want to boost the magnetic field and increase the magnetic force. The magnets are 10mm in length by 5mm in radius. I have 0.4mm2 enamelled solenoid wire for the winding. My questions are, Is it possible to increase the force of a permenent  magnet? Will the induced flux into the magnet compile the force or will the EMF have to be greater to see an effect? Will paralleling two windings make the EMF stronger? As the magnets are small I have limited room to wrap windings so is there a more effective method? Any help would be great!

Thermal Cooling and Heating

It is very possible and it is in use today by using Thermal Cooling and Heating from the earth. Performed by using a 6" well at least 100' deep, with thermal tubing inserted into the well carrying the liquid to be cooled/heated. Process is done by a circulating pump in the interior unit - through the coil - sending back through the well system and returning. It starts out from the main unit circ pump.......through the coils.......out to the "down tube" into the 6" well pipe, a sharp 180* turn back up the system returning to the circ pump. Such a system is used by many facilities to Air Condition or heat rooms of about 15' x 15' or so. I have even seen a system that utilized creek water as the "cooler" of the tubing on a circ pump system. That one really was cool, about 52 degrees. Have you heard of these systems or seen something like it or close?

4d Cinema using arduino, Pi, DMX?

Hi I am a beginner. I would like to make something that will do the following. press a button - sound clips play. then after a set time interval the power to a socket powering a light switches off. then after a set time interval another socket powering a smoke machine switches on for a short period of time. Then finally the power to the original socket turns on bringing the lights back on. What would be the best way to do this? would it be an arduino with relays? or pic controller? If i then wanted to make the above into a 4d cinema so it powers up a projector and plays a video file would i be better using something like a raspberry pi that can play video files itself? I would want everything to operate with a press of a button though and do not want to load programs up manually etc. Thanks for your help

Charging NiMh batteries using a small motor - Help!!

I want to build a battery charger that is capable of charging 12v (2x6v) of NI-Mh PCB type batteries (varta packs from farnell) . I think the batteries are button types bound together. The input will be from a small 1" diameter motor spun to give 12v out (I assume this is a dynamo). The output from the batteries needs to power : a 12v wireless reciever (6mA standby/66mA switching) a 12v - 24v dc/dc converter powering a solenoid at 25mA@24v. I have seen a 12v charge regulator in Maplins but it is designed for car batteries. If I send the 12v motor/dynamo output to the charge controller and then onto the batteries will they blow up? As I am a mechanical engineer this is new to me so can anyone help ?

Beginner in desperate need of help

Hello everyone I only starting using the ardunio two weeks ago and have taught myself to switch leds on and off but thats about it. I came across this 3x3x3 led cube and would love to make it as a mini project for myself. I have searched posts and need help in someone pointing me in the right directions. I have a few questions and I hope somebody can help me as I really would love to make this led cube 1) is there a step by step tutorial on how to make this led cube on a breadboard? 2) Has anyone created a code already that i can use? 3) Can someone show me how to soldier up the leds in the correct way? 4) is it better to do this project on a breadboard or not? 5) can i buy kits that has everything for this project to work? Thanks for reading and hope I get some good advice and help

Would You Guys Like a "Wireless Power Kit"?

Hello, This was moved to the forums from I am the author of the Wireless Power instructable here. [1] Over the course of the past year or so, my instructable has had just under 200,000 views and 600 comments. I have found that many people are actually 'recreating' my circuits and making their own wireless power systems. I was thinking the other day, wouldn't it be great if there was a "Wireless Power How-to Kit," which would include a how-to guide, a solderable circuit, and all the components necessary to make a wireless power system. This would be for all of the people who would like to explore inductive coupling, but do not know where to start. I think this kit would help a lot of people... What do you think? Would you like a kit like this? Any tips for creating the kit? [1]

Useful tools

Cheap, cordless drills are amazing tools. Take one apart and attach a speed controller, you got a motor for a robot. Also, they have good high torque motors that can be used for all sorts of things. A $50 RC transmitter and a receiver make good remote uses, such as remote detonation. More useful tools are pneumatic cannons. I've used them from pressure testing to damage testing. WHat are your useful, unconventional tools?

Best Use of Autotune

By now everyone that listens to music has probably heard (or heard of) autotune. It's been used for years to polish up pitchy vocals. Now it's more recognizable for being used on a totally different level. Autotune is the effect that T-Pain, Hellogoodbye (and by now, way to many others) use. At this point most people agree that it's way over used and just plain annoying. I have a poll to take. What song do you think actually uses it well? What's your vote for the Best Use of Autotune in a song?Mine is Woods, by Bon Iver.

Why the stipulation of using the Arduino IDE, and not the Arduino hardware?

I see that the new Arduino contest rules stipulate that your project must use the Arduino IDE. I was actually thinking of making a cool new Instructable using an Arduino Mega, but using avr-gcc instead of the Arduino "framework". Would that be permissible for entry into this contest?
