Water valve on/off control

Need some help! I need to know what to buy. I need to control water flow with an electric water valve to open when the water temp reaches 65 degrees and shut off at 55 degrees. From the valve, thermometer, etc., what do I need to buy and how can I wire it? I know it’s the same concept as a HAVAC thermostat in your home, but I don’t know how to wire it to a relay for the valve.

Why is the ball valve of my potato gun releasing the pressure? Answered

solenoid valve control

Hi, im wanting to build somthing simple to control the heater control valve on my fiesta. its a simple solenoid valve at 0v its open(hot) at 12v(14.4v) its closed(cold) the propper control board uses pulses to control the valve, the board has since given up and im left with a very hot car, now i thought a simple way to sort the problem might be to use the 10k pot on the control board with a MOSFET and just vary the voltage going to the valve. will this have the same effect on the valve?

Valve/Tube Amps

Hi, I am currently designing a stereo/mp3 amp for my education and I was wondering... Is it possible to incorporate a Valve/tube into a conventional stereo circuit? (like a standard valve amp but smaller and without the Equalization effects) I suppose the Valve/tube watts would have to match the speakers, but is this possible or would I have to use a circuit from a guitar amp that is already paired with a valve/tube amp system?! Much appreciated. -Rob

Looking for a 5V valve to be driven by ARDUINO

Hi everybody, I am working on a project to make an automatic watering system driven by arduino. I am looking for a valve which I could operate without any extra power supply but the 5V from the ARDUINO. It would be perfect if the valve could be in the range of the 6mm for tubes connections. As my project will rely on gravity for water movements, I don't want to use a pump or whatever active device. Just some standard batteries connected to ARDUINO. Do some of you know such a valve? I have looked on the net without any success. I have found loads of watering projects using arduino but none with the same phylosphy. If you know one, please let me know. Regards,

Gas Inlet valves

Hey guys and girls, I am after a supplier for gas inlet valves, or a standard or anything... Basically I have a laser tag system that I want to add high pressure air recoil to, but I want the air supply in a removable magazine, that will then connect to the gun and go through a blow back valve once the trigger is pulled etc. Now, the problem I have is the connection between the magazine and the gun, to allow the gas to flow through, I know airsoft guns have recoil magazines that they can use, (Im in Australia, so i don't have access to these). But would really like to know where I can get some of the parts from. Or designs maybe.

CO2 valve question? Answered

Hi ... I would like to ask for your opinion about my idea : I got as a present a CO2 airsoft pistol. Unfortunately it's too powerful for the UK airsoft norms. So I would like to make it weaker. I took the magazine apart and I had a look at the valve. I find out, that the moving part in the valve (that release the CO2 from cartridge to the gun) is able to move cca 2mm. Now my question is : If I would limit the movement with "something" so that the moving part woudl move only 0.5-1mm ... would this make the gun weaker ??? Thank you for your opinion or any suggestions.

How to connect a solenoid valve to my water container? Answered

I have a setup in my mind, consisting of a plastic bottle(filled with water) with a male threaded neck. This bottle is sitting upside-down so the threaded neck is on the bottom. I want to transfer this water to a cup(by freefalling water) through an electrically controlled solenoid valve. The problem is, the plastic bottle I have picked out has a neck outer diameter of 1-1/2 inches, and assuming I want to directly connect the solenoid valve to the neck, I need to get a 1-1/2" diameter valve, which is above $100. Is there any way to connect this container and a valve(still not picked out) without that high a cost? Maybe a reducer of some sort(i looked but cant find any with 1-1/2" diameter on one side)?  Thanks guys, and sorry if the question is kinda weird and simple. For a reference, check this project. https://www.instructables.com/id/Robotic-Drink-Mixer/ What i want to do is similar, but instead of using a pump, I want the water to freefall into the cup.I'd like to eliminate the tubing too.

How to make an iris diaphragm?

Hey there!I've been scouring the internet, and I still can't fin anything to help me, so I'm hoping someone here will have the knowledge to give me some assistance.I would like to build an iris diaphragm. Yes, those things inside cameras. But bigger. But I can figure out the size thing on my own. What I'm hoping is that someone will understand the mechanics of it.I've included a basic picture of one. Google image search might reveal other examples.Basically, I'll need to be able to slide the leaves with some sort of handle so that they form a larger hole and then can close up again. Here is a link to the entirety of the useful information I could find.I would be incredibly grateful! As would, I'm sure, several other people on the internet that are apparently also trying to figure out how to do this.Hopefully thanks in advance!

Looking for a particular type of air valve

So 2 parts to this question, one is what would it be called, the other, where would I find it. I am looking for a valve  that would have 3 stems, for lack of a better term.  One one end would be the source, another the output and the last would alternate between pulling from the source and pushing to the output.   Any Googling tips?  Not looking for anything industrial, simple small plastic valve would suffice.

Need some help on a broken valve handle, I'blers. Can you help me out? Answered

I hate that I cannot find a picture of the valve to show you exactly what I mean but I have a 1/4 in compression fit water valve in my utilities closet that leads to the evaporative cooler above.  When I went to turn the handle it turned but the central part that is actually the valve stem (the part that screws in/out) did not.  It is one of the older types with a flat handle and seemingly hollow central stem.  Is there any way to turn the valve on without completely replacing the valve? edit: Sorry.  Somehow I always forget one important detail.  It's a valve on 1/4 in copper tubing.  I got some pictures but they look crappy because there wasn't really enough room for the camera so I took them with my phone and found my phone's usb cable.  The valve was there first and the heater and water heater were installed later, leaving very little room to work. I also tried the vice grip idea.  The brass stem cracked and  part of the stem is gone now. Even if I do just end up replacing it, I thank you for your input.

Remote Valve?

I have an idea for a project, and I am trying to figure out a simple mechanism or valve that will be able to release fog produced by water and dry ice into a relatively small diameter tube. I would like it to be activated via remote, but other ideas are appreciated. My plan is to have a sealed container with water and dry ice on my back. Tubing would lead from the container to a mask I'm constructing. I am just trying to figure out a way in which I can control the release of the fog.

One way air-valve for camping mattress? Answered

My mother's air bed (camping mattress) has a patched hole in it but it still leaks air. I want to hook up a tube from the mattress to the pump so when she needs more air, she just needs to turn the pump on. However, when she lies on the mattress, the air will reverse out the tube and into the fan-operated pump (the pump circulates air using a fan and has a deflating function). I want to make a one-way air valve so it can't do that. Thing is, I do not know how to make one. Any suggestions?

I need to be able to divert some of the air somewhere along the tube. any help would be appreciated.

Gas connections

Hey Guys.  I have a laser tag project that I am making. Now I want to put high pressure air recoil on it. With the HPA being in the magazine and the recoil being a blow back valve in the gun. The issue I have ATM is the connection between the gun and the magazine. I basically want it like a butane connection. I can't find anywhere that shows designs or standards for this though. Or anyone who sells these parts. Also I don't want to use a gas magazine as I have custom magazines and guns. Cheers.

Your opinion on this DOWNGRADE of and airsoft gun ?!?

Hi ... as usual my another airsoft rifle is to powerful for the site rules. Because it's NEW, iw ould like to avoid open it and the gear box as well and change the spring. Or to clip the spring. What about to make a small hole in the valve that is pushing the BB in the barrel ??? With those small/fine drill bits (0.3 - 0.6 mm) ??? That should make the pressure smaller, you wouldn't have to fight with the spring and it would be cheaper to replace it ?!?! Do I see it to optimistic or do you think it could work ??? Thanks ...

Satellite to Radio to Pneumatic Valve

I want to receive some sort of satellite signal with a radio and then use the data I receive to control a pneumatic system to replicate a heart beating. I have been talking around with some people who know a bit about radios and the such but haven't gotten much conclusive help.  I would like to build as much of this as I can myself, the entire radio and everything, though I only have about a month to do it. A DIY radio kit paired with an Arduino might be the answer due to time restraints.  What i've learned so far is that I probably want it to be a tunable AM radio. Whether or not I should build that myself from scratch, build a DIY kit, or just purchase one, I am not sure. How to then interface that into a system to then control a pneumatic system, I have no idea other than the obvious arduino. Lastly, I don't need any special signal from the satellite. I really just need to receive a voltage from the radio. Though, hooking into a satellite with an onboard atomic clock so that i can then display the time as well would be great. I am going to keep doing research, though if anyone here can lend a helping hand I would be very appreciative!

Air ride bicycle suspension

So i've been interested in pneumatis for quite some time and recently I came across a small air cylinder (6 inch travel), 12 volt air compressor, 12 volt valve, and misc fittings. I got really excited and without thinking twice I grabbed tools and started hacking up my old beach cruiser (it was quite a mess anyway after 3 trips to burningman). So this is the outcome... I can control the up/down with a momentary on switch out back. Now just looking at this mess its easy to see that well i obviously can't weld. Never tried... Anyway it rides really sloppy as you can imagine, much like an old Lincoln with the shocks blown out, but it is so much fun! Now i pose the question to you community members, how would you have done this different? Looking forward to your responses!

Stop back flow bringing smoke to the rest of the house through the AC ducts? Answered

One room in the house we smoke, but when a window is opened all the smoke is sucked through the ac ducts to the main intake which is in a hallway right outside all the bedrooms. I believe this is because the room is generally ~10 degrees warmer than the main part of the house which the hallway is off of because it is a large, open area which is less insulated because of a vaulted ceiling and many large windows. I am looking for a way to seal the room off from the rest of the house without disabling the functionality of the AC/Heater. I've found this HVAC Damper which I think could work, but it's a bit pricey, and it's supposed to be hooked up to a controller unit, so I don't know if there's a way to hook it up to either the fan or thermostat so it just opens when the AC/Heater/Fan is on, and the closes after. I had also been thinking about building a box with a large, one-way valve, but the only design I can think of is a bit beyond my fabrication abilities. Any help, hints, or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

How to make a balanced spool valve? For a PVC airgun, need quick release valves.

I'm trying to make a 50 caliber airgun, but this time with a better valve. My previous one had a ball valve, and it's sticky, hard to aim, and just troublesome. I did a bit of research on airgun valves, and it seems as though the balanced spool valve is a good one to try. However, all the searches seem to be focused on the discussion, not the making of the valve. I'm going to be using PVC, hopefully 3/4"+ for the air chamber. Anyone know how, or know a better valve? Thanks!

I need to make an air valve, but backwards!?!??! I really need help.?

All air valves I see move into the high pressure resevoir to release the air and then a spring pushes it back shut. Is it possible to have the valve set up opposite of that? In this valve the valve would open away from the high pressure resevoir and the air would escape the same way the valve is going. Traditionally, the valve moves into the high pressure and the air moves out the opposite way. Any information would be excessively helpful and I appreciate it in advance!

where do I find in the internet about the Swing-Mark automatic valve for resturants and bars.?

Swing-Mark valve is a automatic flow chemical dispensing mixing valve, that works with the flow of water going through the valve. dispensing detergent and sanitizer chemical to each sink at a pre mix of water and chemical controled by the valve. Depending on the type of metering valve it has. Resturant and bar owners real perfer these valves because they automaticly always have a E P A regulated mixture of sanitizer per water, to wash and sanitize glasses and cups. Or any info on similar valves.    THANK YOU

Yea. Basically, I'm trying to make a nerf rifle with a better trigger. I've used ball valves in the past, but those let out the air way too slow, and you jerk when you pull that.  So I need some kind of valve that can be pulled, and is airtight. Also, I'm not so good at this whole construction thing, so the easier, and the cheaper the better. Home Depot is probably where I'll be picking up the materials from... so yeah.

What is a valve that can be opened and closed quickly and easily?

I want to make my own water gun (a la supersoaker), the only pitfall I have is I can't find an appropriate valve. A sprinkler valve requires electricity, a modded one will only close when all pressure is released, a ball valve would move to slowly, or be to stiff for a simple trigger mechanism... and I did have another example, but can't remember it. Essentially I want a valve with a semi-automatic action that can release large volumes of propellant. Thanks in advance.
