I'm probably the last person you should go to for game advice, but I'll try. If I don't have the answers you seek, I'll tell you a place where you can find those answers. If you need cheats, I'll see if I can find them. I check to answer your questions every Saturday. If you think you're an expert on a certain game and your willing to give advice leave a comment saying so on my orangeboard.

I am attempting to make a video game (I wonder how many people have said that before). I am not a very good idea person, but I may have something. I could make an open world marble platformer. I don't think thats been done before. However, I am not a programmer, I know my way around BGEs logic bricks very well but I don't know python. If anyone knows python or has any other ideas please post. Also tell me what you think of my idea. If anyone wants to write scripts for me pm me. (I cant pay as I have no budget, but I will credit you and I will contact you for my next project, which I will pay for.) thanks

I have an idea for a video game which allows an opportunity for the players to make money. The problem is that I do not know how to go about it. It would be a space flight\fighter were the players will be able to purchase spacecraft with the ability to customize them to their desire. Then dogfight against other players for cash rewards which they can use for upgrades or new ships. A leveling structure will be needed to allow for players to go against similarly skilled players. First, I would like to know if you would be interested in a game like this, Second, I am looking for people who would able to program, design ships and maps, etc. to get this going. Experience with Unity 3d would be best.

HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!! This question is for people who like games like minecraft, or at least the building aspect. I am making a video game and am going dry on ideas. The game is based on mayhem, and in the story combines past, present, and future. I need small ideas, not a whole new plot, so things like enemies or something like that. (Please don't leave comments like "Well this would be too hard, you shouldn't try to make a game) Those are annoying!

I need help. I've wanted to make a good 3D game for a long time now, and I don't know what to do next. I've downloaded the latest version of Blender on my computer, but my computer is very laggy, has an inconsiderate graphics card, and I have no idea how I'll be able to play it other than on the blender game engine. I took careful notes, I already have a pretty good idea what I want to make, but the idea is so huge, that I don't think my computer (or any computer) could handle it. I have excellent artistic skills, and I've made a lot of thumbnail drawings, conceptual artwork, and details. But I have absolutely no skills at programming, and I've never made a game before. What should I do now? I'm working on learning how to use blender, but since I just got it today, I might be a couple of decades...If I can't make this game, is there a company that I could sell my plans to in some hope that a game might be made? If I can't make a game, I suppose a good 3D movie would work as well...... But I just don't know yet.

We all get bored at some point, right? Or we just want to slack off from school or work. So we play games we call flash games. Some of them completely suck, while some could have been sold for a price and been insanely successful (might be exaggerating a bit there). My point is what are some of your favorites? Personally I liked The Last Stand, Unreal Tournament, Tanks, and I can't remember any more right now...

I think it's a great idea, but I wouldn't even know where to get started on the technical aspect, nor the legalities involved. The game is basically a walk through an instructables-inspired home-built city of interesting devices and systems all loosely (or even exactly!) based on actual instructables. During the games as you explore you stumble on different tasks that you have to complete. You find parts to complete tasks scattered about the city, or win them for completing smaller tasks. Thoughts?

I used to like console gaming because systems rarely/never costed more than $300, it was simple, and everybody had the same stuff. There were no expensive HDTVs, broadband-requiring/expensive online play, the fanciest peripheral was the rumble pack, and your console didn't do anything except light up a power light if there was no game in it.I'm not rich, my parents have never owned a house, and with all the fancy crap that consoles require and do today, I can't afford even a Wii (not that I'd want one, the novelty has worn off). I'm not saying all these improvements in gaming are bad, but for someone like me, I just don't have the money for a shiny new 360, or even high-speed internet (I live on an acerage and there's no cable in the country) for online muiltiplayer/communication.For now, I'll just have to fondly remember having home tournaments playing Star Wars Episode 1 Pod-Racer on N64 with my friends. What do YOU think about gaming today?

Hey so I recently pulled out my old game systems and played them. We normally keep them in the attic but i want easy access so i can play them whenever. I was considering making squares just stacked up on eachother but that's boring. does anybody have any ideas? And also I wonder if cabinets would be better or just have them open so you can see the systems. For an idea of how much room I need I have an Nes, Snes, Atari, N64, Ps2, Xbox, Wii and i would like a few extra in case i get more. I also need space for games and accessories. Does anybody have any ideas for how i could make this look really cool? Thanks.

There are many games out there that have seemed to escape the public eye and has slipped under a sea of top-tier titles and remain unknown to many unfortunate gamers out there. I call upon the eccentric and the wise to cast their knowledge of lost gaming gems to those of us here, and let us have a few hours of gaming goodness. Remember that this is only for the lesser known titles, not the best or worst games. Thank you, and have fun.

I've been recently getting into retro gaming, and I've noticed a lot of things, like bits. I know more bits means better graphics, but what is bits a measure of? I've also noticed how they go. It's by a power of 2, Like this: 1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128 etc. Lastly, what was the Atari 2600's?

This is for all of you who want to (or already do) make video games for a living. Right now me and some other people are in the process of making a video game. We don't really know much about what it's gonna be. I don't even know if my coworkers know what they're gonna do to help make the game. All i know is that we need more people to help us. If you're interested, then just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Include in your email what you can do, previous work ( you don't really need to be experienced), and for 3D modellers, i'll need to see some of your work. I'm in charge of the 3D modelling so make sure you know how to make models because i'm not just gonna take someone who can't do the job in. we're only excepting people who have a good understanding of how to do what you want to do. You can also email me if you have any game ideas. We will include you in the credits and such.

A couple of friends and I are planning on making our own Video Game. I thought it would be cool to ask others for ideas. Our game is a mixed genre (we are attempting to put as many game types into one as possible, but still keeping it somewhat reasonable) sci fi game based a couple hundred years into the future. Humans have colonized mars, but their is a war between the two planetary alliances. Meanwhile there is an underground organization that controls everything going on in human society. They prepare for the return of the true martian race who left behind some ancient relics which were discovered and kept a secret. The main character is a super soldier created by the underground society. You unite the human race and fight against the aliens. We have story ideas but would like to hear ideas from other people. All suggestions are welcome. Suggestions could include, but are not limited to: Characters Events Weapons Technology Genre types Plot ideas and twists Side missions One other thing is that we were thinking that the aliens could be human based, and be like a sub-species of humans. Yes or No? Any other ideas are welcome. Thanks to all who help.

Everyone loves video games. And most everyone loves social change. So, video games for social change.... a sure winner! If you're in New York City next week, be sure to check out the Games for Change Conference. It's hosted by Parsons School of Design, the greatest school on the planet (I might be biased).

I want to code it from scratch. I know that this is VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY hard, but i am willing to put the time into it. I have almost every night of the week, and the weekends to work on it for lik 5-12 hours, so i have time. I just need to know how to make the exe and utilize the other game files with it. I know im asking a lot... but i really want 2 do it. It will drive me crazy if i dont. And, if i could... i wanna make it a ps2 game. Please dont reply if you cant/arent going to help me because... well... i just wanna make my game. So PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you in advance. Please feel free to ask any questions about what i want to make. THANKS!

Sprite Stitch is a neat blog devoted to turning classic video game scenes and characters into cross-stitch patterns. Since that just means gridding them out and picking suitable colors, it's also a great resource for all sorts of projects: knitting, mosaics, or even LED art. Who doesn't want a Pac-Man scarf, a Super Mario Brothers tiled shower, or a glowing wall of Space Invaders?Bookmark this one for future use. I'll be referencing it when we redo our bathrooms.

Hello, I am making a game and I have ran out of ideas. I has hoping that maybe some people might have ideas they would want in a game. It has a building aspect to it like minecraft, or terraria. The game Is about a merge of time lines, like Medieval knights and gulf war soldiers. I don't really want a whole new plot, but small ideas like enemies or other little parts. Also If I use your idea, I will tell you and if its implemented in the game i might even pay you. Thanks you!

So, I live in a dorm now with a few other students. We'd like to play a game together on our personal laptops, but we don't know which ones would be good to play. Requirements: 1. No internet access required. 2. 2-16 players or more. Multiplayer-only games are OK, but single player would be nice too. 3. Mainstream games are fine, but if you know of any indie games, that would be even better. 4. It doesn't have to be new. In fact, from 1990-2008 would be just fine. 5. Most of all, it has to be fun to play. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Could somebody possibly do, or make an instructable on how to make a portable Sega system, kinda like the one in the following link?: https://www.instructables.com/id/NES-in-a-Cartridge/ If it could be made to play the original games, and be hooked up to the TV, and be run on an outlet too, that'd be cool. I'd do it, but I really am not good at doing things with electronics. But if someone can do something like that, that'd be sweet!

Last night we added a new "Games" category, and brought back (and made better!) the random sorting. When we first added categories, the theory was to add new categories as they emerged. I'd say that games has pretty clearly emerged. There are great Instructables focused on video games, video game cabinets, homemade game consules, board games, card games, magic tricks, dice games, how to cheat at games, and lots of other ways to have fun. Explore the games category, and have fun. If you come across an Instructable that should be included in games, but we missed adding to the category, leave a note here.A great way to see if there are any we missed adding to games, or just to explore the site in general, is the revived sort by random. It's new every time you click it in the Explore pull-down menu, or click "Spin the Bottle" on the explore pages. I bet you'll find something cool you've never seen before. As always, let us know what you think.

LiveScience is reporting that playing video games before bed can help gamers control their dreams. This can be helpful for those who have troublesome dreams. "If you're spending hours a day in a virtual reality, if nothing else it's practice," said Jayne Gackenbach, a psychologist at Grant MacEwan University in Canada. "Gamers are used to controlling their game environments, so that can translate into dreams." I can personally attest to the fact that playing a ton of Tetris will affect your dreams. You'll be seeing those blocks fall down, endlessly clearing lines. After playing the heck out of Resident Evil 4 I had dreams of fighting back zombies for months. Far from a nightmare, I always found it to be a fun challenge. Does anyone else have any experiences with video games and dreams? Video Gamers Can Control Dreams, Study Suggests via Slashdot

I started a new group. In the near future I hope and plan to write some video games for Microchips (PICs or other microcontrollers) such that the chip is connected to a joystick and a video monitor. I do not write PC games. I would like to know what chips are popular and cheap and easy to program for you so that any games I write would be easy for you to Make. I have a Hydra/Propeller and a PIC programmer. It is my impression that PICs are cheap and popular... compared to AVR's and such. I used to write games in the 1980's and miss that hobby. What chips do you suggest are good to write games for? What I mean is, what chips can you program; I would like you to be able to Make and play any that I or others write! Use "Rickard Gunee PIC Tetris" as a typical example of the "console", (but expect more interesting games, if any!) which will be on a breadboard, or on the Hydra Game System i got at Make Store. So tell me, What's your favorite PIC chip?
