Australians! Urgent help needed!

Hi everyone! I don't really know what category this should be put under, if anyone think it's in the wrong place feel free to move it. I am a guy from Sweden who are backpacking around the world and I am currently in Perth, Western Australia. I'm going abroad to Laos tomorrow and I will stay in south east Asia for about a month and then come back. My problem right now is that I have some luggage (extra clothes and camping gear) that I need to store somewhere during that time. I called a self storage company a couple of days ago from Coral Bay and booked a locker at their facility, however they forgot to mention that I needed to be there before five p.m. when the office closes even though I explicitly asked if I could come by later since I would arrive with the Greyhound bus. Does anyone know any fairly cheap (the lockers in the airport cost 8$ a day, and that is a bit too much) place  that is open at this time, or even someone in the area who could could spare some space for about 1/2 cubic meter of luggage until I come back? If so, please contact me asap either here or on 0405682652.

Looking for standard knex (no bricks).

I am looking for standard knex (preferably no bricks). I live in Perth, Australia and I am looking for a NEW (not e-bay, used amazon stuff etc.) set with a motor in hope of creating a ball machine and other things. I have already looked in Big W and Target. Please give suggestions to sites or stores, and if someone can give a good average price for a certain amount of bricks, that would be appreciated. Thanks!

How would one transform a durable digital wrist watch into a swell steam-punk pocket watch?

Say for instance, a Casio G-Shock into a really cool and functional pocket watch guaranteed to impress. An easy process would be a plus, in addition to parts available at the hardware store.

Is there any danger in using two different sine-wave inverters (UPS) to provide backup power for my computers?

I'm concerned that having two UPS units in close proximity could be the same as having two out of phase mains supplies and the potential for a rather nasty shock.  Or, are my fears misguided? Thanks.

How big a propeller would I need to turn a 3500 watt AC gererator?

A friend of mine gave me a 3500 watt gasoline AC generator because he burnt the engine and he did not want to fix it due to cost. I want to use a propeller instead of a gas engine to make it operational. Is this practical? The wind here blows constantly between 20 and 30 mph.

Choosing components for a car-amplifier - which way to go?

I am lucky enough to have a few "hi-fi" amplifiers around my house. What I've noticed is that the better quality kit has far fewer components than the generic cheap Asia imports. Am I right in my assumption that fewer components of significantly higher spec is the way to go when building a car-amp for myself? Many thanks.

How to stop slow cooked (crock pot) food having watery gravy? Answered

When I use my slow cooker (crock pot) the food is always cooked properly but the gravy/juice is large in quantity and very watery.  I know I can tip the sauce into another pan and thicken it with cornflour, but that seems to miss the point of an energy efficient one pot meal. Can any one offer any ideas and/or recipes that don't have this problem?

I've built a few disposable camera strobes, and want to use them in solar garden lights, instead of LEDs. Answered

My problem is getting them to switch ON after dark.  The strobes draw about a half an amp, when the first start to charge.  A single AA rechargeable battery should last a few hours, but no idea on how do the switching with only 1.2 volts.  Any help or suggestions?  Was hoping to get a half dozen put together before Halloween, sort of a lightning-effect.?

What is the highest legal power for an FM radio wave generator in the United States? Answered

I am building a project that transmits FM radio waves about a mile with frequencies capable of being picked up by a normal FM radio. I know that those little iTrip connectors for the iPod can legally generate FM signals capable of being picked up by a car's radio antenna, but a mile of transmission seems a bit excessive to me. Would such a device be illegal? Does anyone have any links where I can find such information? Thank you.
