Pyrolixer - can you help me figure out what it is?

I need to figure out the actual name of something I bought years ago under the name of "Pyrolixer" for pyro-effects (in Germany). I am also curious as to whether you could diy it.Let me describe what this is about: a liquid that you apply to paper and let dry. When you set fire to that area, it will smolder away, but only where you applied the liquid. From what I gather, it is used for magic tricks and similar effects. In addition to have paper smolder slowly, you can use it to reveal a message by letting it burn away specific areas. Can anyone help me out? "Pyrolixer" does not appear to be a good search term, and thus probably now the English/original/technical name for this. Any feedback is appreciated, and ideas about how to make your own even more so!Thank you!

How to wire a 3 terminal socket ( i believe they are called 2 way sockets

I would like to put led mini lights inside of a liquor bottle lamp that i bought, my question is how can I connect this to a 3 terminal socket so i would be able to turn on just the mini light, or just the lamp bulb or both at the same time.

Search problem.

I wrote an Instructable on how to use the Verowire technique to make circuit boards. Rather oddly a search for "Verowire" does not find it. It finds other things which do not have "Verowire" in the title, but not the article that does. So perhaps I didn't need to bother writing the article, perhaps my search to see if it had already been written wasn't as conclusive as I thought.

I'm having trouble with my sketch regarding how to code , my stepper motor traveling to a limit switch then reversing and accelerating to another limit switch.

I'm having trouble coding at a point, I built an Equatorial Platform for my telescope so I can track the stars.I have a Nema 23 stepper( 1.8 * step, 200 steps per rev.) motor with an Arduino and a Easy Driver for my micro controller. My problem when I make my sketch I have the stepper motor running at 92- 104 RPM with a potentiometer to fine adjust, at this point when my platform hits a limit switch then I want to reverse the motor and accelerate it to 2000 RPM then decelerate to 25 RPM before the platform hits an other limit switch, then start the process over. How do I incorporate accelerating coding that to a certain point then decelerate motor before it hits the other limit switch. Do I need to find some timing coding ( for some length of time), before I want the motor to decelerate to hit the second switch. I don't want the motor running at 2000PM to hit the limit switch, I want it to decelerate before the limit switch. then reverse the motor again to 92 - 104 RPM. I'm a novice at coding with little electrical background. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Jack Brockhurst e-mail jacam9803@yahoo.com

Foam Board/Cardboard Shoes

Hey, I was walking past my little sister watching PBS Kids and on one of the shows this girl was trying to make her own shoes. Out of cardboard. Lightbulb. The only reason that they didn't work is because they got waterlogged. I am thinking that with good enough sealing and strong enough glue, useable shoes made from cardboard are a possibility! The only problem is that I don't have foamboard or time to spare or a working camera at the moment. If anyone could carry this idea further than me, have at it!

Hi, I'm a student and I'm looking for an experienced partner for help with my project :)

Hi, my name's Chaitra and i'm a 17 year old product design student in the UK, doing A level product design. As part of our coursework, we are required to find and interact with an "expert", a person with a good level of understanding of product development and technology. As you might expect, it's quite hard to find someone like this at random, which i why I've come here to see if anyone is willing to collaborate with me :)My coursework will be based on air conditioning, specifically regulating and purifying air conditions during sleep, so it will involve a good amount of electronics and physical design. As the "expert" of my project, we might exchange ideas and offer suggestions to improve the project, and even maybe advice on the best ways to manufacture the final prototype for assessment. You can be as involved as you want to be honest, I appreciate that everyone is busy so you won't be able to commit a huge amount of time to this, but maybe exchanging emails around once a month? I might send over some sketches / cad files over email for you to evaluate and suggest some improvements or ideas on, nothing more than that.If you're willing to help, please answer this topic so we can work something out! Thanks a lot :)PS. this is my first time using instructables, if I've submitted in this wrong place or something, please let me know

I need help connecting 2 solar panels in paralel

Hi,I'm new to Electronics but I love solar panels and hiking.S, I bought 2 of these:https://www.tomtop.com/p-l1613.htmland one of this:https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dual-USB-Solar-Boost-DC-D...and I connected them. I cut 2 USB Cables, connected + with + and - with - from each Cable and connected it to the DC-DC booster. The amperage is not doubled and the output Volts are lower than 5V which should be the constant output of the booster. The panels were solar oriented and the output was only 0.02 A with Bright enough sun from those 2 solar panels. The panels separately work fine, it is only when I connect them to the booster that they act weird. Is the problem in booster or is it me doing something wrong?Thank you!

An awesome website I found for sharing the tools you use in your Instructables (or for anything else!)

I recently found a free website called Kit.com, and as the name implies, it's a website for making kits of the stuff you like and useSo far, I've made a bunch of different kits such as " Dremels & Rotary Tools: All of The Accessories You Need" " My MUST Have Workshop Tools I WISH I Would've Bought Earlier!" (And several others that are organized on my Kit profile page)I think it's a pretty cool website, and encourage everyone to make their own kits of the tools and stuff they use in their projects! If you make your own kits, link them to your Instructables profile page (Like I did with Linktree), and post a comment below so can all see what you use and waste more money on tools we're sure we need! :)They also have an option for embedding the kit in a website which looks really nice (see this, though when I tried it once it looked a bit different), but unfortunately Instructables doesn't support it... (hint-hint!)You can also create an affiliate code, so when people buy through the links, you earn a few percent of the sale, which is pretty cool too!Maybe unrelated, Kit was just acquired by Patreon so if you read this in the future it might not be free. I have no idea. Also, if you're an SEO genius you need to tell me how to make it so my kits rank on Google!Post a comment if you make one!

The indestructable bike lock! ...Idea

The indestructable bike lock: the forum topic that was posted undeniably just to annoy the future patenters! So I had this weird idea for a product come out of nowhere. Y'know how aluminum is supposed to make cutting wheels on an angle grinder gum up, stick, and shatter - when trying to cut it, that is? I was wondering, what if a company engineered a special type of aluminum alloy or a similar material that would do just that: gum up abrasive cutting wheels and make them stick/bind and shatter. Then like with layers of plywood, it would be sandwiched together with hardened steel, in the shape of a U-lock bike lock, making it: Impossible to cut through with a hacksaw, reciprocating saw, TCT bladed portaband , because it's hardened and would wreck the teeth. Impossible to cut through with an angle grinder or rotary tool with an abrasive wheel because the aluminum would gum it up. Impossible to cut through it with bolt cutters - obviously... Impossible to freeze it with freezing gas? I don't know. I heard that's what thieves do. Maybe that aluminum alloy would be a super-insulator and wouldn't allow the hardened steel layer to freeze and become more brittle?I think it might just be invincible until the portable cordless battery powered waterjet is invented!Thoughts?

Compact ight sensor switch with low voltage

Hi there,I've got a led light that's operated via a magnet, if it doesn't detect a magnetic field it turns on if it does it turns off. It's a led light for car door(check picture for reference) and uses 3x AAA batteries in my case 1.2v x3 (3.6v), if you use regular batteries it's 4.5vBy mistake I've order a tiny light sensor module 3.3-5v(check picture) which obviously can't be used as a switch, not in it's present form. While I'm good with solder, I've build an ebike, I'm a computer guy but when it comes to things like this like this make me feel powerless :( ..I 've used 12v light sensor switches but that's a different topic. So, how can I have a low powered light sensor switch that's compact and can save me from replacing the batteries frequent? ...the led light turns on even at daytime which has no point in doing that. I'd appriciate any help :D

Building Touch Sensors from Scratch?

I am very familiar with velostat and conductive fabric and how to combine them to make textile touch sensors. I would now like to make a touch sensor that's more solid, and made from a firmer resistive substance than velostat. I've been looking up the resistivity/conductivity of different metals here: https://www.thoughtco.com/table-of-electrical-resi.... In theory, as long as one metal (or other material) is more conductive than the other, it should work the same? I've read on silicon and carbon fiber, but I'm not sure if what I'm researching is the solid kind, or the flimsy/squishy/bendy kind.

Gap measurement using a sensor

I want to measure a very tiny gap of about 20-30 microns(0.02-0.03 mm) using a sensor with the help of arduino and then display it using a 16x2 Digital LCD Display. Can someone help me out with the sensor that I will need for this purpose with exact name and its working. The gap that I want to measure is the gap between the the joints of a healing fractured bone.(the joint where the tissues develop to join the broken parts together.)Since this is a leg bone any person walking with such a fractured bone will put pressure on the bone and the gap present in the bone will reduce. So that is what I want to measure using a sensor and arduino. Since this gap will be too small (20-30 microns) I am unable to find a suitable sensor for the same.PS: Main issue I am facing is the measurement of gap using a sensor and arduino since I can find a suitable sensor for the same. Please find the attachments of the bone and the gap I want to measure. Also the thing I am doing is a close case of greenstick fracture. refer to the attachment of greenstick fracture.

Arduino-Based Solar Heater for My Above Ground Pool

A few weeks ago I grabbed the garden hose to top off the pool and noticed how hot the water was as it came out. (the hose had been lying in the sun). So, I decided to put it to good use. We've been looking at solar heaters for the pool but found the prices prohibitive, and being a DIY'er I decided to build my own. I have 50' of black, tangle-free hose coiled on a 2' by 4' piece of Wolmanized, 3/4" plywood. This is perched on top of an 8' 4by4 post which I sunk into the ground near the pool's filter. To feed the hose I installed a faucet in the filter's return line which is under sufficient pressure to travel up and into the hose. The other end comes down to an electric valve before emptying back into the pool. The Arduino portion of the project consists of an Arduino Uno board, a DS18B20 temperature sensor probe, a 12-volt, 3-amp power supply, A small prototype board that holds two 12-volt relays and two 2N3904 transistors which the Arduino triggers, two 12-volt car-type relays which are triggered by the smaller ones, and a Mallory Sonalert. My idea was to have the Arduino monitor the temperature in the return line from the solar hose coil, and when it reaches 80 degrees F, the Sonalert goes off for 5 seconds to warn swimmers that hot water will be coming out of the return spout in the pool. And after the warning sounds, the electric valve then opens for 2 minutes, flushing the warmed water into the pool. Since the system is driven by the pool's filter, the solar hose is replenished during this flush period, and when the valve closes, that new water is then heated, and the whole process starts over. The Arduino code consists of a couple libraries to incorporate and read the temp' probe's output, a subroutine which tests both the Sonalert and the valve when the system is first plugged in, and then the necessary code in the Void Loop section which simply waits for the temp' to reach a preset level and then sound the alert and then open the valve. The system is built into an 8" by 6" electrical box that mounts on the 4 by 4 post just under the solar hose panel. The systems been up and running for about a week now and I've averaged about a 2 degree rise in the pool's water temp' per day.If anyone is interested in seeing photos of the project, or the Arduino code, I'll be happy to provide. UPDATE: Here are some phots of the project...

Arduino heating controller: solar panel, oil burner, stove. NEED HELP AND ADVICE

HI this is my first time with arduino and electronics so please be forgiving.i want to make a controller for my home heating system and if it possible be able to control (change temp. setting, see statistic, etc. by phone - Bluetooth).so, i have three source of heat: solar panels (water), oil burner, wet stove. first part of plan is to connect all electrical components correctly (to make sure nothing blowup), second step is the program. third connect controller with phone by android or have a option to send sms to turn on/off oil burner.let's startthe heating system should looks like that (photo attach)please don't focus on the plumbing (that's only sketch), electronic and programing is more important.program (second step) should do:1. if T5 >T2 pomp P2 work 2. if T3>55'C , P3 work but only if O1 is switch off (automatically P1 and M1 is off, because they will be connect directly to O1 power) 3. option to on/off O1 by click on the phone (or by modul GSM in the future e.g sim800L) 4. additionally options 2 and 3 they are conditioned by other sub-option of 5 zones (where hot waterwill flow, so what will be heat): a)olny hot water in the tank- M3 open, b)only underfoor h.- M2 open, c)only radiators- M4 open, d) all heating, no tank- M2 i M3 open, e) all M2 M3 M4 open. so, before turn on O1 start making fire T3, one of the zone have to be pre-sellect.also if T1 >60st.C (and O1 and P3 are off), P4 will turn on (dump extra hot water to underfloor h.).that's all, nothing more .... but it's to much complicate for me right now. :smiley-confuse: and third part: all should be controll by simple phone app (android) e.g. turn on/off oil burner (maybe timer), change temp. in tank, change zone, see statistics etc.thera are elements what i have already- arduino nano-logging data module-relay 8 ports-bluetooth modul At-09, ble-4.0-extension board nano v3.0- temp. sensors DS18B20 i connect everything by all info what i've found in internet. also i tried to do simulation in THINKERCAD but many of my elements are not exist in the program, stiil no win. i didnt want to connect power just in case of blow off :o this is what i already found online:http://www.reuk.co.uk/wordpress/arduino-solar-water-heating-pump-controller-design-and-code/https://thesolaruniverse.wordpress.com/2016/11/21/monitoring-temperatures-in-floor-heating-loops-with-an-arduino-with-data-display-on-a-3-5-tft-screen/http://house4u.com.ua/articles/solar-controller/en/part11.phphttps://www.instructables.com/id/2nd-Gen-Arduino-Hot-Water-Solar-Collector-Controll/https://forum.arduino.cc/index.php?topic=70048.0and about bluetoothhttps://arduino.stackexchange.com/questions/19517/hc-05-bluetooth-module-inq-command-doesnt-worki only showing the links to proof my hour's spend in google.i think first two are the best.so i put together all what i found and this is my first program:const int TANKSENSORT1 = A0; Including comments in a download

I was possible in the past to choose to download comments with a project. This ability has disappeared. Any chance of a revival ? Many times a comment may add to the value of the project or point out, for example, a safety problem. Thanks JohnO

Create a phone shell/frame/body?

Hello all,The new phones these days break too easily and its harder and harder to replace the battery or sim card. Instead of buying or making a case, my idea is to make a phone shell/frame/body with a 3d printer, and just taking the parts out of my Samsung and just putting it into that.Is it doable?

Please help me solve this error in code

Cree XB-D driver circuit

Hi Everyone,I would use following design with some modifications to be able to drive 3x3 Cree XB-D LEDs Green/Blue:https://www.instructables.com/id/Circuits-for-usin... Step 8 #4I would use 12V ATX computer PSU as voltage source.PWM source: Arduino nanoAttached picture show how I modified the design: 3x3 LED setupMy main concern, is it correct my calculation of LED currents: based on my understanding, 220mohm current sense resistor setup 2,272A current through FET. Based on Kirchhoff's current law, it will be 757mA for 1 LED.Is that correct?Any advise and suggestion would highly welcome. Thanks,Best Regards,Gyorgy

How can i get my PC to detect a WIFI signal again?

About 3 weeks ago, I was trying to update from win10 v 1709 to Win 10 version 1803 but I couldn't finish because the signal for this particular WiFi at the Lodge became so weak all of the sudden. Actually, the lodge has two routers- one with the excellent signal and the other with a very weak signal. What surprised me is that my android phone detects the signal immediately I enter the lodge premise but my PC won't. This WIFI network only shows up on the available networks for a few seconds and it disappears for hours. Sometimes I get lucky, it comes on and connects automatically but limited service. So I think my PC has a problem and not the router. Any help please. I'm stuck here for like 3 weeks, school work isn't easy to do anymore. I've atrached pictures from which u will see what Im talking about. I'll appreciate your responses.
