A Friend With a Forum Answered

Recently a friend & I have worked out how to make a forum, so we have. Problem is, we have a lack of people who have joined to give constructive criticism! The website is www.wendol.myfreeforum.org, and my account is KryptoniCamel for any one that wants to ask any questions. Thanks everyone, Regards, Kryptonite.

I agree with the rest; It looks like a nice forum. Looks nice, and the front page modules are set up quite well.

You can get a co.nr website, so it could be wendol.co.nr instead of the long URL you have now, for free.

I have a decent amount of experience with PhpBB; I may be able to help if you have any problems.

We actually used a forum hosting website, although the bad stuff about that is it's rather chocker block with adds that they're getting the money for! Bit annoying, but oh well, it's a none profit/none input sorta site.

We're mostly proud of it, but because I'm Administrator, while my friend is Main Administrator/Owner, it means that I can't actually change that much myself, so whenever I find something wrong (often) I have to redirect it to him.

Thanks for all the good comments & everything every one, it's good to see when help is needed, it is given.

  • If you will add the protocol to your link, it will be clickable. Eg, http://www.wendol.myfreeforum.org
  • Nice looking site. Much easier on the eyes that I would have thought. Some parts are a little hard to read, but all-in-all it works very well.
  • I have a little experience with phpBB. I might be able to answer simple questions.
  • Work on your grammar/spelling. Eg, it's a web "site", not "sight." (heehee I hope I punctuated that properly. I frequently put the comma and period on the wrong side of the quote.)
.
. Great start. Now all you need is some members. ;)

Oh, woops, bad spelling, sorry Anyway, how do you mean by easy on the eyes? It's got various skins & depending on how you like it, but the default is quite dark. Thanks for your help, it's really appreciated.

Kiteman has answered this well. I'd like to bring in Death by PowerPoint which is closely related: the forum has avoided these mistakes.

Wow, that's amazingly true. Too often is it that at school when people do a powerpoint presentation you get distracted, far too easily, not to mention the fact you die from over pcychotic flashing. By the way, has any one joined the forum yet? It'd be sorta cool, but not necessary. And thanks for all the help.

. I don't plan on joining, but that's only because I'm 50+ yo and it looks like the forum is aimed at teens and young adults. Plus, I don't need another username/password to have to remember (it gets harder to do, the older one gets).

You're 50+? Wow, you've never really seamed like you're over 50. But yea, the sight is mainly aimed at youngsters. I appear to have the same problem as you, how do you remember all your logins? I end up making a new one every year if I haven't used it for a month or so.

. I recently started using KeePass, but I've found that it doesn't do much good if you forget to enter the new info. ;)

Ahhhh... I see. I generally write it down, & then the hard part is remembering where I hid it.

Yes, that's the point behind "Death by PowerPoint" (a global movement of sorts) - Microsoft packs the thing with stupid toys and people think they're supposed to use them or something... L

Far too true, I've always found the simpler the better, sometimes. But yeah, less animations & more content, not to mention easy to read, is often a good way to success with a (insert subject) assignement.

"Easy on the eyes" means that there is a decent contrast between text colour and background colour, without any whizzy flashing psychedelia to make you squint and give you a headache.
