Amplify FM transmitter range? Answered

http://www.lucidscience.com//projects/Basic%20Spy%20Transmitter/8.jpg

This all relates to the picture linked to above
I was not sure if I could put an amplifier before the antenna to boost the signal going to the antenna extending the range anyone know for sure it seems to make sense

. I think you are looking for a linear amplifier.

ya i just wasnt sure about if it would work...oh btw i like the comment on the Archimedes screw question

"What part are you having problems with? . You can't get much simpler than an Archimedes Screw. It's just a screw in a tube."

I actually put it on my FB page :P

A correctly matched antenna (length). used the higher supply voltage, use the most efficient circuit you can find and this may not be it. IF you intend to power from the mains and a simple wall wart is a good hiding place that most people would ignore, then consider using the mains wiring to carry the signal this can travel a long way and only requires a receiver plugged into the same phase of the supply to pick it up.

Oh and just a warning, people who listen in at doors and otherwise rarely hear anything good about themselves so be prepared.

Note too that boosting the power of a transmitter risks violating FCC regulations. Generally not a great idea unless you have a ham license and are working in the bands specifically allocated for experimentation.
