Any ideas on making an inexpensive remote water sprayer? Answered

Our cat is keeping us up at night and we need a remote trainer to squirt when she claws at the door.  We've tried sneaking up and squirting under the door but the floor squeaks and she hears us coming- therefore her behavior has gotten worse because she is getting attention. We are losing sleep and can't afford a $150 citronella sprayer.  Any ideas you may have would be much appreciated.

(For those of you who have cat advice we don't want/need more- she gets plenty of attention throughout the day, we've tried letting her sleep with us, and she can't be trusted to roam free at night. We need a cat training tool)

Hey, how about a Laser Pointer, mounted on a pair of servos? You could trigger it with a Piezo-element when your cat scratches on the door !

Really though, Use a piezo element to trigger the Windshield washer Petercd suggested. Sounds the easiest way. I wouldn't recommend using a PIR motion sensor though, your floors will be Soaked! Are you going to post a Pic when it's done?

Use a windscreen washer system (reservoir, tubing and jets) from a car, the reservoir usually has an included 12v pump, so place it inside next to the door with the pump motor wires going to a 12v battery via a push button.

Then use the tubing that runs from the reservoir to the jets on the bonnet, that way you just feed the tube under the door via the Y splitter to 2 jets, 1 on each side of the door spraying in toward the center of the doorway.
