Autonomous Robot Cars drive in real traffic! Answered

The latest DARPA challenge has just happened - 11 robotic cars driving round 60 miles of simulated urban highway with real humans driving in amongst them.

Amazingly impressive - if you check the videos, the robots' road manners are better than most humans'!

I still have not "met" a cruise control that can get the gas mileage I can, on a hilly road. I have not tested anything really expensive of course, but cruise control in normal cars is only good on the flat, really.

Yeah, I read an article last night on my school's entry... They lasted two hours in the finals -- apparently, they were the low cost budget team :p

They nearly hit a tree -- a bad command from the GPS... Shut down their steering control and it just drifted off course :p

Impressive. My hat is off to anybody that can do even a fraction of what these teams have done. The winning team had about 50 members listed on its site, and one of those is Red Whittaker, who counts as about three men by himself.

Wow cool. Humans are pitiful, outdone by things they've created....
