Best LED colors for long lasting illumination w/ a CR2032 3V Lithium Battery? Answered

an exterior installation where the temps are in the 20's.  Needs to last 7 - 10 days.

red, and for the lowest drain, red gallium arsenide (GaAs) at about 1mA forward current and forward voltage of ~1.6-1.8VDC.

Not going to be bright though - all depending on what bright actually means!

You're simply wrong. The approximately 200 or so I had installed into power distribution modules and other associated electronics modules, and set for slightly under 1mA forward current were plenty bright enough to be seen in a brightly lit room, no "dark" required.

You are unlikely to get 7 to 10 days from a CR2030

Red LEDs draw the least current. about 5 to 8 ma for a dim light that can be seen in the dark.

The data sheet for the CR2032 says they are 240 Ma/h capacity

240/5=48 so you will get approcimatly 48 hours of dim use from the battery
