Bug in the Instructables Layout Answered

On my computer, when I am on an Instructable, slideshow, or video the main layout of the Instructables website changes.

The righthand sidebar moves down to below the last comment and makes the page a lot longer. Also the drop down bars at the top are longer because they only allow one link per row.

I don't know if this is just the new layout of the Instructables or if it is just something with my computer. Whatever it is it has just gotten annoying and I had to tell someone. Could someone (Preferably the admins)tell me what's wrong.

EDIT 6/22/08

It is fixed

it has been fixed for weeks so stop giving me useless advice

Which refutes my point how?

At least you make a valid point, rather than resorting to childish name-calling.

Oh wait...

It's probably an internet explorer thing. Use Firefox.

Again? When did they win before?

Thanks for this response. You caused me to track the issue down to Firebug. It seems that the problem is actually the combination of Firefox3 and Firebug. It works in Firefox 3 without Firebug, an Firefox 2 with Firebug. Weird!

Yes, Firebug is still a beta release for FF3 and doesn't play nice with our site.

How did you know, stalker? (I know you looked at the printscreen) Does it do that in firefox?

Nope. Not even now, running Firefox 1.0.4 on a 5 year old Dell Inspiron 4000 on Linux. Firefox will one day take over the world.

i cant change my image the "change image" link is in normal text

This is a somewhat common problem we have with IE sometimes. Although the menu pulldown seems strange. I would typically try clearing the cache and reloading the page as a first attempt to fix most layout issues, in FF or IE.

Mmmk.
You are:
  • Running Google Desktop
  • Objectbar
  • Photoshop
  • Vista
  • HP computer
  • Internet Explorer with Google toolbar
  • Screen size is 1024 x 640 pixels
  • NOT USING FIREFOX?!

I don't even know if these photos are true, because you had photoshop open.

They are true. I had to use photoshop to paste the screen shots in.

You also forgot touchscreen laptop.

I do have firefox by the way

Cool! Touchscreen laptop.

Yes, I know. You also forgot adobe flash, adobe illustrator, adobe contribute, windows sidebar, and microsoft office
