Can I still master Kung-Fu Wing Chun? Answered

Ok, lats make it quick this time - Can I reach mastery of Kung Fu Wing Chun, if I'll start training at the age of 13? I mean, mastery like shaolin monks - becoming a total killing machine.

It's not too late, but you've go to REALLY want it. Do you have the opportunity to study in immersion under a true master? But - to become a "total killing machine" is a poor incentive for mastery. There are better incentives and the interest to kill is only a diversion from your goal. I feel that you will not be the grasshopper but will rise only to the level of doodle bug. Good luck in your quest.

I agree. Especially the doodlebug metaphor

As long as it is fun there is no point to being a' total killing machine'. I have been doing Aikido for ~6 years, and the best 'ultimate killing machine' is not to kill at all. Unless prison is a nice rest home??

Maybe I haven't expressed myself correctly. By "total killing machine" I mean reaching the ultimate rank, and being an official master. My goal is two main things - self defense, and fun. I seem to enjoy material arts... Recently I have been in the class for my first time, and I'm sure I'll start training soon. I'm willing to put all it will take, as long as I'll enjoy and like what I'm doing.

"Total killing machine" is a bogus goal, having much more to do with movie fantasies than reality. Step back and ask what you REALLY want to achieve, and how much of your life you're willing to invest in achieving it.

How far you go in any martial art depends mostly on how much time and effort and attention you are willing to put into it. If I hadn't gotten distracted, I would have been first-level black belt in Judo by age 18, and I didn't start much younger than you.

"Mastery" is what you achieve over the course of a lifetime, IF you're good enough and dedicated enough and don't injure yourself too badly in the meantime. There is no guarantee you can get there. There is only the guarantee that if you don't try your darnedest, you definitely won't get there.

You're confusing Kung Fu with something else, "total killing machine" doesn't really fit.
What do you actually want?

For eight hundred years have I trained Shaolin. Too old to begin the training you are. A Shaolin must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. Named must your fear be before banish it you can. Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to banishment from Robot. Do or do not, there is no try.
