Can anyone tell me how to wire this motor (from an AC)? Answered

I wired an AC in my room to the central heating unit, but the electronics inside were destroyed(only the motor worked). I've wired the motor to a dimmer switch (and of course the cap it had) but  there are still 3 (or so) wires left. The way I've wired it i can control the rpm to a certain point but then it starts making a weird humming noise. From what i can('t) tell this thing is frequency controlled for lower rpm (or at least that's what a friend told me)

I've also wired a temperature relay in series to the dimmer switch so it stops when it starts blowing cold air.

So, i was wondering what am I supposed to do with those extra wires, it doesn't say anywhere what they are/do  I don't know if you can see it clearly in the pic. the motor runs on 220V (well I don't know what the voltage is after the dimmer.)  It says 220V on the motor but when I run it on that voltage for about 20-30 minutes it gets REALLY hot. (and the voltage in my room is really low, about 200-210 V sometimes it goes up to 220V)

So, the question is have i wired it correctly or should i make some sort of controller for it.

(Also this thing heats up the room in no time, when the input temperature is about 30-40C)

from the model number on the unit , you shall be able to get
the service manual on internet !
the circuit diag will show you where the power is going
and on wich wire color
for this 220 V unit the diag will also indicete the value of the cap
and the mpu board will indicate the voltage DC feeding the feedbacvk
circuitry to the motor ( possibly 5 Vdc )

you could make a two speed with 2 pos selector and resistors
like a fan blower on a car


Actually i searched a bit for the model but came up dry,
according to the diagram i've wired it correctly and with this regulator i have no problem with heat, i'm guessing the old regulator was malfunctioning or broken.

The schematic on the side only says how it's supposed to be connected and nothing about voltages and such...

BTW, the pic shows the motor and whatever my camera could pick up.



the number on the motor will not help
You need the model of the unit that it came from
with that you will be able to get proper wiring diag from the service manual

Well there's the problem all i know about the unit is that the company that made it is Osaka.

(I'll look around and try n' find a model or serial number.)

LOOK similar to my motor on Wall evap split system

large plug power has 3 wires red white black for power
L to white
N to red
and a 4.7 capacitor between black and white

the other 3 possibly 5 Vdc pulses feedback to the mpu 5V + minus and pulses

this may help ?


The motor looks exactly the same. But mine is rated 12W(it's blurry on the pic), the cap is 2uF and is connected to Red and White, power goes to Black and White.

So, this either means I've wired it wrong or the guy that gave it to me wired it wrong.

do not trust what I said for wiring

go to the skematic in service manual for proper id of the wire color

How many wires are on the motor ?


There are 6 wires :
That's what it says on the side
1-Brown-------] Electronic Control
2-Green--------] P.C. 1,2,3 are E.L. Control. PC Board
3-Yellow-------] Board

2-Red -----Cap----|
3-Black --------------|

First the HOT motor, your dimmer may not be full wave or is unbalanced feeding
DC to your AC motor. How mane wires actually come / go to the motor.
You could be running a start coil in the motor ( used to Only start the rotation) .

Forgot, Six come out and i'm only using 3 (2 are power and the third is the Cap)

The other 3 are for some kind of control (on the block diagram they are Electronic Control P.C. Board)

Actually I just replaced the dimmer (motor is cold now), before it used one from a drill and i guess there was the problem. I think this dimmer is full wave tho.

Also power is connected to Black and White (i think), and i had no idea these things have start coils.
