Can you get Internet Explorer for a Blackberry Tour 9630 thats flashed for Metro PCS? Answered

Well, I want to start downloading apps for my Blackberry Tour, from App World that is. However whenever I go to download any app there is a page that shows up and it says, "This webpage uses ActiveX controls that work only in Microsoft Internet Explorer. To ensure that Blackberry App World is correctly downloaded to your Blackberry, this site is not designed to work wih any other Internet Browsers. If you cannot use Internet Explorer, you may be able to download the software directly to your Blackberry smartphone".

And theres no download link or anything there to help me out.

I have also already tried to change my browser options/configurations from Metro PCS to something else like IE. But there are no other options other than MetroPCS.

So, please, if you know how, or if you think you can help do so.

Thanks a plenty,

They're not telling you to run IE on the Blackberry. They're telling you that their download-and-install-onto-blackberry-through-your-PC tool is set up to work only if you're running Windows on your PC and using Internet Explorer. Which network the Blackberry is set up for shouldn't affect this.

At least, that's how I read what you've told us. I'm not a blackberry user; so I may be mistaken in trying to apply common sense here.

Yeah, but you need to be running Windows on your Blackberry, which is outfitted with Internet Explorer. Thats why when I flashed my phone, or my friend did it for me, the browser configuration options decreased from Internet Explorer, and a couple others to just Metro PCS. Honestly I dont know if I could get around it but I wont stop until I find out for sure.

Your friend flashed Windows Mobile or Windows Phone onto a Blackberry? I didn't think that was possible. And I don't think IE exists on any phone not running Windows Mobile or Windows Phone.

Well, I found a new way to download apps, not from app world, and they are free. So anyways thanks for the advice. Its called Mini Opera, a type of web browser that let you do a hole bunch more things than IE or the Metro PCS browser.

Flashing your firmware is like a box of chocolates, you never know...never mind.
The way I see it is your choices are limited and its going to require some effort on your part. Warm up to google and start looking for information:

Can you flash the Blackberry to return to the OEM firmware?

Is there a back door or workaround that will allow you to install IE?

Is other software available that will let you access downloads from AppWorld?

Are there alternatives to the software you want to download?

Good luck.

I like the box of chocolate thing, lol, but anyway, I'll start to try. I've tried a little bit but got upset because I hate navigating through webpages with a trackball. Thnx
