Im wondering if its possible to convert a 2G cell phone to 3G? I know that there would have to be hardware changes, but is it possible?

It doesn't seem possible really. It would be best if you could replace your 2G phone with a 3G one.

I won’t say that you won’t get an answer on the “complicated” upgrade but…

My thoughts are that you have a couple of options. In either of them, be prepared to pay for the phone out of pocket. Plans that bury the cost of the phone are becoming rare.

Check with your provider to see if they are offering a lower cost 3G upgrade phone.

Look into other low cost alternatives.

If you are a M2M business, Sprint is planning on picking up AT&T’s business and offering bolt-in modems.

If you are a BMW owner, there is no upgrade path offered on pre-2013 BMW's.

I tried to do it, but it is quite complicated, but good luck.

I was told it was only a software difference in the phone if you leave out the video chat feature.

No. (not economically feasable)
