Collaboration Credit Answered

I’ve recently collaborated on a few projects. Although the function works, it doesn't allow the co-author to get any credit. It seems like a simple solution would be to place the project on both author's pages.

I see the question has been asked before without a decent response.

Yeah, I figured the contests might be an issue. However, that seems like an easy fix. - only allow the lead author to claim the prize - just state that in the rules. Maybe give the co-author(s) a prize pack. The collaborators could work that out before starting.

I've wondered about this aspect of the collaboration function even before I worked here. I suspect it was built this way due to the nature of contests - so full responsibility/ownership of a given project ultimately falls to one person, as only one person can claim the prize should that project win in a contest. There might be some legal ramifications as well, but I'm not sure.

Sharing credit automatically and visibly on all collaborators' user pages is a solid idea. It may or may not become a feature, but voicing the desire for it is appreciated as it puts it on the table for discussion among the site's admin team.

But as you know, currently the best way to give credit to fellow collaborators is to mention them and link to their user pages within the text of the instructable.
