Complaint Answered

Okay, this isn't a complaint about instructables, but a group in instructables. I've noticed that the myth busters group is adding every single instructable that is featured in the weekend builder, and others that have nothing to do with them but the person is using to get page views. I know it's not directly against the rules but could you tell them to stop? It makes them look like they actually had something to do with it...

Alright, thanks. And it's not the people making the instructables, it's the person who owns the group.

. If you think the situation is bad enough, PM someone on staff (use the About link at the bottom of the page), but they will probably read this topic and act as they see fit.
. Reporting abuse is all you can do - now it's up to the staff to handle it. Ignore the offending group and enjoy the rest of Ibles. Don't let a few bad apples ruin your experience. ;)
. A polite PM to the group owner may help, but don't expect much. They are aware of what they are doing and probably don't care what you or I think. If you get an abusive response, do NOT reply - just ignore it. Do not argue the point; state your case (politely) once and move on.

Ha I did that. He claims that Iron man costumes fall under special FX which the mythbusters cover. I then brought up several others that he had brought to the group and he deleted the comment, flagged it, and did a number of other things.

. Judging by the responses to your OP (or, rather, lack therof), I'd have to say that you are over-reacting. I don't agree with everything that Labot2001, Kiteman, and ll.13 do/say and they ~~probably~~ don't agree with me all the time. We still learn to get along. If Kiteman gets out of hand, I'll just ignore him. . Remember the Golden Rule - thems with the gold makes the rules. If you reported this to staff back on the 7th and they haven't done anything about it, well, you're pretty much out of options.

. I wasn't trying to be rude, just calling it like I see it. If you don't like what I say, ignore me. If you really want to ignore me, you can modify Zachninme's No K'n*x script for GreaseMonkey to filter me out.

Ya I think you call that blunt and to the point...LOL....

. Did that really come across as rude? I don't think anyone has ever referred to me as "tactful," but I try not to be too rude. And usually when I am trying to be rude, it's very obvious. heehee

Nope I didn't find it rude.. it was direct and to the point, and unfortunately some people are so babied nowadays they can't deal with it when they don't get there way...... ((I could be rude here but I won't ))

Lol, don't worry, this place isn't really What I'd consider a rude community. flame away :D

I just wasn't sure what you meant...I guess I missed part of the conversation.

Hey, A good name! Welcome to Instructables! Just a tip, click the "Reply" button underneath anyone's comment to respond to them. :-)

Some of my projects are in that group. Doesn't bother me, why should it? They aren't gaining anything by it.

If anything, your project may gain some publicity or, if nothing else, more views.

Yeah I know, but when I asked the guy about it, he blantantly tried to come up with an excuse... a lame one.

. While it may gain them a few hits in the beginning, it shouldn't take ppl long to catch on and avoid the group. If it gets bad enough, someone will start a new MB group. Ie, it'll eventually work itself out.

They can't be made to stop it as it doesn't break any rules, it just comes down to the community (read: the people who put their irrelevant Instructables into that group)
