Contest vs. Challenge? Answered

In the Contests area of the site, some contests are labled as a Contest while others as a Challenge.  What is the difference between Contest and Challenge.  Just want to be sure I am entering these under that proper conditions.

Thanks,

Both are mostly same. Only difference is that challenges are organised by instructables team while contests are organised/sponsored by some other companies (Correct me if I am wrong.) You can see contests have more and good prizes which are provided by that company. Also on every contest, it is written - "prizes provided by ...."

contests are usually sponsored and last more than a month whereas challenges usually are a few weeks long

Challenges tend to be smaller scale than Contests - less notice of them coming, shorter time-scale to enter, but also a less-involved project to complete.

(And there are usually less, and less expensive prizes, though you can still win something that's worth several hundred dollars...)

I think that challenges are more specific, and focus mostly on one thing (ie: Bucket, Dogs, Clay) and contest are more open (Food, Electronics, Woodworking)
