DIY Mini Drill Machine Answered

Hi everybody! I have bought a mini drill chuck from banggoog.com. But unfortunately it's hole is smalle than my DC motor. i don't even know the motor I have is 12v or 6v but i have ran this motor on 12v but i didnt burnt. its tip is bigger than my drill chuck. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Hi,

Just buy another chuck, they're around $1 a piece and you'd pay much more to get someone to drill out the chuck, or spend a lot of time getting a poor fit if you try doing it yourself.

Measure the motor shaft and get the proper chuck. It seems to be a 3.17mm shaft, but you need to verify this with calipers.

You can use a diamond file or sharpening block on the running motor to slightly remove material.
You should heat the chuck (dismantled and only the part for the motor) to around 250°C and put the motor in the freezer.
They should then be matched to just fit together.
Once the temps equal out the chuck will be set in place for good.
Same way a train gets new "tyres"...

Find a machine shop that will put the chuck in a lathe and drill it to fit your motor. Then use thread locker to hold the chuck on the motor

I think you need to buy a bigger chuck/collet for the motor (the diameter of the shaft of the motor)
