Dancing/singing robot Answered

Hi guys, I'm thinking of building a dancing/singing robot for a close friend of mine. I want it to be similar to one of those electronic santa toys that dance and sing carols when you turn them on. Except, I would change the body and make it look like the singer of my friend's favourite band, and make it sing her favourite songs. How would I go about starting this project? Any suggestions? Thanks

Start with a Wowwee Elvis Robot bust. Pull off the elvis mask and replace with a mask made from the face of the band member. Rewire (or re-build with servo motors) his jaw so that it opens with sound. (I have a 'sound organ' board bult into me.) Create mp3 tracks with just vocals.

Not easy, but would be so very cool.

. I'd get one of the dancing Santas and modify it. . IIRC, there are several iBles/topics on modding greeting card sound generators, key-fob recorders, &c. If not, there's lot of stuff on the Web.

Exactly. A lot of those toys seem to be basically the same underneath, with clothes or fur to disguise the moving parts.

I concur, and if you have someone that can draw, mold clay or plastics realistically, you will have it made. You may have to substitute the chip board containing the music, with your own board and digital voice recorder/player, and then record the songs from the singer onto the chip, and Voila!
