Do people still use 35mm cameras? Answered

I have a Konica FC-1 and I do not know much about "film".  I do not even know if it works because the batteries are dead.  Any info would be great.

Many people prefer film to digital when it comes to cameras. Shooting with film requires knowledge of camera mechanics, light, f-stops, and other complex things. That said, anyone can go out with a simple film camera and shoot some nice photos. If you're close to a photo center, see if they have photography lessons available. I took one where they show you how to use your camera and how to develop and print photos. Of course, you could just take it to a photo store and have them print it. One of the main problems (in my opinion) with film photography is that a roll of film costs about five dollars, so every shot you take is money , as opposed to digital where you can take as many pictures as you memory card can hold and delete what you don't want. As for the camera, I did a bit of research and it turns out nothing in the camera works without batteries, so you need to get four SR44 silver or LR44 alkaline cells. Take your camera to a good photo store (not Bartell Drugs or a similar place) and they will help you get the batteries and film you need. I hope you get into film photography, it's a very fun and rewarding activity.

I actually took pictures in High School with this camera. I am now digitally spoiled because it is FREE. Thanks for the answer.

Yes I still use film occasionally - I have an Olympus OM10 many years old now.

I also develop and print my own pictures. For large size you can't beat it.

Yes, many people still prefer real film.
