Finding non live wires? Answered

I have had new wiring put in my house but I can't remember were they are, is there a piece of equipment to enable me to locate the new wire?

You open the breaker in the fuse box, then the hot wire is neutralized and then apply the signal to the wire you are chasing...

Still use a voltmeter against ground, before touching any wires by hand !

It is the same type of thing that is used for identifying network cables only for power lines instead.

I have found that it helps to take pictures of the wiring before the wall is closed up. It costs nothing anymore and can help you to know where NOT to hammer in nails and screws.

I'm a little confused as in the title you say "non live" but in the description you mention finding new wire (are these now live?).

The answer by iceng is the way forward, but be extra careful if we are talking about live electrical wires!! Follow all the instructions provided by the product, we don't want you electrocuting yourself so remember to isolate power first.

For a simple way of locating live wires hidden behind walls you can also try something like this...
