We are LIVE!!! - Knex Flux - General purpose Knex forum Answered

Knex Flux is live now, you can visit it here: http://knexflux.net

So, I randomly had that idea and Sandro likes it too and stuff, so yeah,
is there any demand for a general-purpose knex forum uniting all the parts of the knex community under one hood? Of course such a forum would need people who actually use it, thus me asking if it would be used ^.^
I could do the hosting, I know my way around such stuff :)

This would be in particular good for sharing progress, which isn't really possible on instructables, sharing small projects you don't think are worth a whole new instructable, helping others out and of course all just having a fun time together!

How do you find your spam folder? I know what it is, but I can't find it. I use outlook for my email.

I think that is about an older version of outlook. I checked the delete and the junk folders and it is not there.

I just tried that and it said that the email was already used. I tried to login and it said that it emailed me a code, but it doesn't send it.

I'm thinking about joininh knex flux

but the thought of my IP being recorded holds me back big time

I'm a big fan of what little privacy I have left and that is just too much for me

maybe I'll join as a guest tho :/

Oh that's just the standart legal text so that we stay on the legal side. The thing is that with every request to a website, including instructables, you do actually transmit the IP, so in theory you trust every single website to not do harm with it.

I can assure you however that I am a huge protector of privacy and do everything to protect it :)

Have you checked your spam folder? Unfortunately, lots of email hosts tend to see the emails of forums as spam, even if this isn't the case.

I don't see anything in my spam. Can I PM you my email and you can send me a link?

The issue is on my side, seems like outlook doesn't want to receive my sent emails, hang on, looking into it. For now I verified your account manually so that you can already log in!

Assuming it's your account that's currently awaiting activation, we can manually activate your account. Just to be sure, are you Naxon?

The issue is that we are on the hotmail blacklist for some reason, hang on, reading through how to get whitelisted.

Sent a whitelist request now, they say it usually takes 2-3 days

The forum KnexFlux is in the works and is soon-to-arrive, we still need to set up some things for an immediate awesome user-experience, to make sure that it'll succeed!

Looking forward to it, too :P I am currently working on the feature to add instructions and such in a way that it integrates into the forum experience!

I see there is a KNEX subreddit does that not satisfy KNEXers? I think a forum would be pretty cool!

The thing is there is only one category: knex. And if anything about the theme, about management or anything is not how we like it we are screwed because i doubt 'ibles would change something if only a few members are complaining, while those few members are actually a large portion of the knex community.

I'm looking into collaborating. To clarify, it'd be more of a full-blown website, though the forum would be the focus. I just need to make sure my goals line up with theirs and that we can agree on how to make the site, then I'll join in.

I've thought about this. I had an idea for a general purpose K'nex website with the ability to import instructables too just to make the transition easier. And while some people liked the idea, there were still a lot of people who opposed it. Without support from the entire community, we're only fragmenting it more, which isn't good. Sadly, we're stuck on 'ibles. I think people have grown too content without really realizing how nice it would be to have a custom website of our own. Anyway, I figured at some point after I'm done with my current personal project that I'd throw together a demo of what I had in mind, show anyone who's interested, see if I couldn't get more people onboard the idea, then worry about getting a domain and host if people change their minds.

I already configured and modded some SMF forum earlier today for usage...I also thought that some model database or something would be nice, and importing instructables is actually fairly simple due to their undocumented API.

I think that would be more than worthwhile.
