Go back to the old layout. Answered

I've noticed that in the attempts websites make to become more and more advanced, they always somehow mess up and make their layout WORSE than the last one.  The one we had before was good.  The one before that was better.  Same thing for any other site.

Google has had the same layout for who knows how long, I respect them for that.  They made a simple interface, clearly laid out buttons, and they left out all the garbage.  When the stats and related ibles were on the right of the instructable, it centered the instructable currently being viewed on the screen which was good for my eyes.  I don't know why you guys decided to change it, it was fine the way it was before.

Just my honest opinion here...

Update: Thanks for taking my advice guys!

i hate the beta channles they force u to have on youtube

Personally I like those better than the old channels.

yeah but 4 the rest of us we had no choice

Funny, when I am logged in, the view is back to 'normal', related on the right.  When I  log out, the related stuff goes to the left.  Does anyone else notice this?

I noticed that too. I'll check my settings to see if they added it. I suggest you do the same.

Agreed. Facebook got weird, too...

too bad this stuff doesn't work on facebook.

Well its back to normal now.

Erm...

Everything looks the same as it used to to me...

You only get blamed if you break the interwebs.  Slight tear in the matrix, nothing to see, move on folks.

I agree. People read left-to-right and the 'ible should start the page. I could be crazy, though - does anyone prefer the new layout?

Have my prayers been answered?

For the record, I like everything else about the redesign - the new subscribe button and the bigger project pictures.  That was the only weird thing to me.

I always liked the old Instructables layout. I always sit slightly on the left side of my laptop so I can see the main text of programs in the middle. I've always liked how when I viewed an instructable the text was bang on in front of me, but how I have to look to the other side of the screen, which feels like I'm writing with my left hand (when I'm a righty).

twiddling thumbs till someone comes up with a Greasemonkey script.......

I liked the old style more, too. But every time there's a change, I tend to get used to it pretty quickly. After a few days if it still bugs me, I might say something. The thing is, we're used to looking to one place to see something (like stats). So when it's not there and we have to look somewhere else, it's annoying. From my experience, It won't last long, though.

Agreed. Some with this guy Aaron Cake who runs aaroncake.net. Hasn't changed the layout in years, because the one he uses works. And is easy on the eyes.

I concur.

I agree, it's stupid. I don't see why they thought it's a good idea. At least give the option to pick between the two.

Like nmcclana said, I read left to right, not 1/3 right of the left side to the right.
(Why is the named underlined? I didn't set it to do that)

I copy and pasted his name on my comments, and it was a link, so I deleted and retyped his name, but for some reason it was underlined.

Wait, why would they change it for instructables and not threads? I give them two days. I hope they don't change it.

i agree that its bad....

I didn't get the new layout yet (I'm always late for everything!), but now I'm kinda afraid...

Nevermind, it just changed for me.

I don't like it so far, it looks too clustered for me.

It's only been like this a couple of hours, at least give it a couple of days before judging it I say.

I'm just worried that ibles will cave and change their layout like all the other sites.  The layout I'm seeing for ibles is not as good as it was yesterday that's for sure.
