Guess who has Swine Flu? Answered

My younger brother (age 8) was diagnosed with Swine Flu about 2 hours ago. He's had a high fever since yesterday. Since he got loaded up with shots within 48 hours of his fever's appearance, he should become a proud survivor of the morbid Pig Flu that will cleanse humanity like no other form of genocide has yet accomplished.

As for the rest of my family... Everyone's fine but my mother and I; we've been experiencing minor flu-like symptoms since early this morning... this may or may not be related to Swine Flu, so I'll keep you posted.

What you can do to protect yourself from Swine Flu:
  • First of all, DON'T PANIC - really, my brother is the first person I know personally who's gotten it, and the fact that it's my brother and not the friend of a cousin's stepbrother's girlfriend is just pure coincidence. I'm no math genius, but if only 10,000 of the world's 7 billion people have Swine Flu, that's quite a bit less than 1%.
  • Wash your hands often
  • Try not to touch your face, especially around your mouth and nose
  • Use common sense - if someone is sneezing their brains out into their hands, refrain from high-fiving him or her, etc

Wish me luck.

That's harsh! Swine flu is NOT the plague of 1666!

I hope your brother is doing better. You should buy a lotto ticket to match the odds.

What do you think was the cause of where he might have contracted the disease? Any schoolkids go on vacation to Mexico hotspots?

The Pork Council has launched their countercampaign against calling it swine flu. It is officially "H1N1", (ayche one, enn one not pronounced hiney).
This flu has genetic coding like those found in certain pig viruses but cannot be transmitted by pigs to humans so eat pork.

And of course, in New York City we have our own epicenter but luckily the closed shools are not near us.

He's doing much better. He went back to school yesterday. Everyone else is doing fine too. I think we just caught it at the right time, like Nacho said.

I don't want to be a downer or anything, but can we get some details of what your brother was experiencing symptom wise (just curious), besides the fever? I know that your brother will get better! Just tell him to stay away from pigs from now on...

Just a fever. No sneezing or coughing at all, surprisingly. As for me, my throat's a bit sore, but I'm ~~hoping~~ willing to bet it's allergies.

Is it any more severe than a regular flu? (ps. gets lots of rest and drink lots of fluid).

. Sounds like you caught it in time and are taking precautions. I'll wish you luck, but it doesn't look like you really need it. ;)
