Guess who just got a motorbike? Answered

Me :p
No seriously, at the food pantry/ thrift store I volunteer at, someone donated a fairly good condition Whizzer Pacemaker II, Midnight Blue. I bought it. It isn't yet registered for road legal, but that's ok because I haven't got my car or bike license so I'll call it a scooter for now. Anyways IT IS AWESOME, just a few paint dings, slightly rusty chrome, broken/missing turn signals and I haven't gotten it to run yet BUT I'M WORKING ON THAT... So anyways, here's some pics:

148cc engine, awesome retro looks....

That is definitely MUCH cooler then those bulky putt-putt Mopeds they use around our city. It looks light enough that you COULD actually pedal it (most of the mopeds I've seen, the pedals are for assisting the motor on some hills with pedaling).

ON the pedaling note, ye gads! This thing is 96 pounds, I think I'll let the engine get me up hills.... But you've got a valid point, most mopeds look so.. whimpy and nerdy...

Do you know the engine displacement size? It looks like about a 3 hp engine. . .

Ok, that gives me a bit of a reference :-) I have ridden a Honda 100 in the past. It was just bigger then a scooter, and classed just barely a motor cycle, in my area. I had a little get up and go for it's size (it was a 5 speed).

Not bad! Hehe, that was back when the "Retro" look was like what the "80's" look is now...

Yeah, well that is the biggest think I ever rode with only 2 wheels. I felt oddly uncomfortable leaning into curves (a necessity) and also uncomfortable with the odd way to shift gears (odd to me since I leaned an automobile clutch system real early).

Reply 9 years ago

I am by nature de-stabilized. so curves should be no problem... Fortunately, I have but one gear

Reply 9 years ago

Well, since it won't go so fast as to require deep leaning into curves, having only one gear, even I would be able to ride that safely LOL

If I ever cruise up to Bump's taking the backroads, might as well tack another 3 hours on and I'll let you take it 'round the block aye?

Chuckle, only if we first go out into the country where there is almost no traffic and fewer policemen ;-)

Better idea, we meet at Bumps' which is the country. Save me 3 hours and a gallon of gas...

Ha, you get to convince my wife about that one LOL She doesn't like to ride long distances (for her, that is anything over 15 minutes) and she hates for me to be out of her sight for more than an hour (thus limiting my project time too).

Aye well, the trip to Bump's was hypothetical as well. Your wife sounds much like my mother... I really hope they aren't the same person....

Well, if your Mom doesn't leave the house for fear of being around others and their germs maybe they are twins couldn't be the SAME person, as my wife is always here...

Hmm, city girl like my wife ? :-) My wife has "city syndrome" where she feels unsafe in an area where you can see for miles and miles in all directions, but feels safer in the city where someone could hide in an alley or behind a car..... *shakes head*

She says she feels safer with a lot of people around, whereas, from my point of view, the more people, the more chance of there being a crook in the bunch....

I suppose it depends on how dependent one is on the immediate need for others. That is, I am more independent, and although I can use help now and then, do not depend on others being around ALL the time.

Thanks! According to wikipedia, it's about twice as powerful as a regular moped. State laws call it either a moped or a motorized bike, I'm gona have to call and find out... DMV.. *sigh*
