Hazard Light Hack Ideas ??? Answered

Hi everyone!

My Dad recently bought a van and it had a hazard light on it which he doesn't need. He's given it to me and my Mum to play around with. Other than sticking a plug on it, what else can we do with it?

Hook it up to a timer and some sort of noise-making mechanism, and make a super-effective alarm clock.

Or it could be a cookie-jar or fridge alarm, or else you could wire it into the doorbell.

(If you have a deaf friend, you could do the alarm clock or doorbell thing without the noise-maker and give him/her a really nifty birthday or christmas present.)

LEDs put out far more light than incandescent lightbulbs. Replace the bulbs with high-output (maybe 3W) white LEDs and have yourself a mniniature lighthouse. Or, use whatever tools are at your disposal to make the rotating reflectors start off turning slowly and gradually speed up- no practical reason, it would just look cool.

Put it back on the van, start a revolution...

Ok, so you have thought of the "party light" scenario already.....how about hooking it up to a home alarm system and have it flash outside or just inside the front window?

Buy some cheap laser-pointers and incorporate those?
