Headphone LED Question (HELP) Answered

I have been making headphones and need some help. when wiring I soldered the red wire to the red wire, and the blue wire to the blue wire. It works fine but i wanted to add an LED, can I solder the led between two of the red wires? If I can't, can you tell me another simple way to wire one so it runs off the headphones? PLZ HELP!

take a meter and measure the voltage. most leds operate at 5 volts.

Just a question... Are you planning on turning this into an instructable? Because if not I'd love to.

Sorry, but it doesn't work. I will be making an instructable on my steampunk headphones, but the LED had to be hooked up to a different power source...

When it's up all the way it flickers and lights up some but is just too loud!

try adding a filter capacitor to help with the flickering, but i think you will still need the volume way up.

if you splice it in with the red wire, it will flash more or less in time to the music, assuming the music is loud enough.

Awesome, i never really thought about blinking because of the audio wave cool, should i use any resistors or is the power outage right? I have an Ipod shuffle (with the clip).

assuming you turn the volume up enough to light the led, it should work fine.
