Hello. Answered

I am back.  I will NEVER retire.  And I have learned my lesson.

Thanks Visper, I owe you one.

Also Holy crap I got a huge subscriber boost.

I also would like to thank Aeronous for picking up my torch while I was gone.  He's done a good job of critiquing.

Hmm
Maybe now it won't be so quiet around here.
Still don't know if that's a good thing or not.

In my opinion, ibles is dead. Maybe I've just lost interest but it feels like there isn't as much activity around here as back in the day. We still have regulars who submit their ideas but it still has a slow pace and there's not too much impressive coming out of it. I touch my K'nex, don't come up with anything, and then just leave it for a week or more until I try again. K'nex seems to be a dieing hobby.

I think it's because all the top knexers are growing up, and get caught up in things like school. Knexfreek told me once that he has a social life and it was either that or knex. He chose the social life obviously.

Now I on the other hand got noticed by my friends and they all liked my guns (with the exception of a few junior high trolls), so I really don't have that option which is good.

Well it's funny that people are "growing up" and think they're gaining a social life by giving up K'nex. People really need to grow some maturity and stop judging a person by their hobbies. I still go about my life and just put K'nex in whenever I have the time. It's not of high priority but it's still on the list.

But still I'd hope we'd replace the leaving K'nexers with new K'nexers. It'd suck if it became a forgotten art.

I guess we haven't done much to teach the new generation.

It's because you guys keep telling them to build NARs and TRs...
Show them some more complicated builds.

Reason: They need to start with these guns so they know what we call a good knex gun.

But a lot of the so called "Kings of Knexing" learned from building the small things and improved upon them by themselves. If you don't have anything to build upon it's no fun. You have to remember too that a lot of the new knexers are younger and they aren't going to be on the same level as the older ones that are leaving.

That's only part of it. When I was new I built some guns made by other people that the community seemed to like at the time, and I learned how those work so I got a general knowledge on how knex guns work. You learn best by example, and you can't teach yourself what you don't already know.

I started knex when I was 12, with absolutely no experience at all. I joined the site before I made anything out of knex. I think most of the new people have had some experience with knex before they posted anything.

I agree with some points. The new K'nexers need to adopt their own styles. I started off building the basic block triggers and made only a handful of other weapons before I ended up making my own weapons with my own flavor.

The NAR and TRs are simple but they're too simple in my opinion. We should encourage them to build more complex things so that they learn to make complex things by themselves. Otherwise they're going to get the idea (and most veteran K'nexers have this crazy idea too) that all we want is NARs and TRs and we won't get any innovation. I like pushing people and that's why some would say I was a little competitive.

To find a better way to protest than to name call.

To not be mean and nasty ever again, but he cannot comment! I think admins have done it on purpose...
