Help! My Leds wont sync to the music! Answered

okay, so here is my problem: i have done this tutorial, and have had no luck....

i got all my parts from radio shack yesterday, ( Transistor, LED, switches, etc....) so they aren't old, and to make sure, I just tested the two transistors, and the still are working, same with use, battery.

I do not know what i am wiring wrong, but please help!!

here are the pictures of the wiring

LEDs the wrong way round ? In the circuit shown in the tutorial, the battery is the wrong way round.,

If the battery was reversed wouldn't that be backward for the transistors?

no, at least i dont think so. Resistors only go one way, and that is from Base, or B, to the emitter, E, i think....then the collector, C, gets added on for more power

No, I've reviewed it again. As shown, the emitter of the NPN transistors is forced positive, and the collector negative. The LEDs are shown as emitter loads, and correctly oriented for the transistors, the power is definitely wrong. Don't let the voltage at the base go more than .7V, or you'll damage the transistors that way too.

Fix what ? Base resistors ? Add a 100 Ohm resistor to the base in series.

You want to draw this nicely, I'm not sure which things are what, sesp. the black blob. Where is your input?

Maybe you don't have the volume loud enough? Bad song choice/not a loud song?

well, my ipod is on full blast, and the song choice was by the offspring, which is a rock band, and pendulum, a techno-ish rock band, so i dont think it was that

Well for starters, That's a stereo plug and I only see two connections.

The original diagram has two transistors and your's only has one.  Look at the PC earphone here.

the plug does have a third connection, its just off the picture, you can kind of see it on the left side, its green. The plug came off of headphones, so it should work. Also, i just wanted to try using one transistor, because i wanted to make sure it work and all.
