Help me find a use for my old aquarium (without fish)? Answered

Hi :) I have an old fish tank / aquarium that's the tall polygon-style (like this - http://www.crystal-fox.com/webart/products_large/3385.jpg)

I never seem to have much luck with fish sadly, so I'd like to find a non-fish but decorative way to use my pretty glass fish tank. I like candles, plants, pretty stuff like that.

Any and all suggestions would be very much appreciated, thank you :)!

OOhhh, big glass container... insulating glass...

Jacob's ladder, Van de Graff generator, Tesla coil, whatever, just sparking away just out of touch. Since it's surrounded by the glass you can have oh my God are you insane that's too much voltages going. Depending on what and how it's sparking, maybe you can get a plasma globe effect, where putting your hand against the glass will draw the sparks over.

That would be sooo cool.

  • Keep stick insects.
  • Keep hermit crabs.
  • A giant lava lamp.
  • Fill with water, and add a magnetic stirrer. Add glittery bits to the water and have a shiny whirlpool.
  • Put a layer of mesh across the bottom, with a gap beneath. In the gap, install several small fans (like PC fans), blowing upwards, maybe each leaning slightly clockwise. Add interesting light-weight items (thin mylar foils, fluffy things) or an ultrasonic mist-generator and watch them blow around.
